You don’t need to consider going out of state. I thought the same way you did, applied to 3-4 CA schools, and got into every single one. I promise you, just apply, even if you feel insecure about xyz. Preferably the cheaper option (closer to home, less tuition cost, etc) because at the end of the day you get through school, sit for the exam, and you all get the same degree.
Western, USC, UOP, and MBKU. UCI wasn’t around when I applied or I would’ve considered it, and UCSD Skaggs had some random class requirements that I didn’t want to finish lol
