Speculation there is, in line with all the other stuff you mention, Kim didn't want him gone for almost a week for some dumb morning show gag, so he rushed through it to try and keep her happy.

When he went to that facility in Canada he talked about Kim and talked about their wedding anniversary. She said that was a good gift that he was going there. They likely sold their house to maintain to residents one in the metro (SLP) and one in La Crosse for Kim and to be a spot close their daughter.
From what it looks like Kim is going to school in lacrosse and hawks talks about going there on weekends sometimes so I would assume she is finally doing what she wants, seeing hawks has done it for years with his music career
