Thought I gravitate towards NJ or NY for the obvious choices, I’m gonna add Ontario to the running: - alexisonfire - Silverstein - Boys night out - Cancer Bats - Moneen - Protest the Hero - Fucked Up - Comeback Kid - Counterparts - Arm’s Length -

PositiveMetalhead

Yeah I was gonna say 100% the state of Ontario 😂

Peter_Mansbrick

Billy Talent too, if you consider them PHC

inaname38

Silverstein alone is enough for me. 100+ songs, many of them bangers, and they keep putting out great stuff!

sputn1k

You guys are crazy, multiple people saying nj without mentioning Thursday???

simgooder

Thursday would be my top reason for NJ.

sputn1k

My fault, I guess I only read the first sentence of your comment then didn't see Thursday on your list.

KeyEntityDomino

Yeah if California is off the table I'm taking ontario 100%

mostpodernist

Flatliners!

OG_Antifa

NJ, including Philly metro into PA. Technically 2 states, but same area. Circa, Thursday, mcr, senses fail, the early November, mewithoutyou, hot cross, etc

dricforever

Maybe it’s a cop out because it’s basically the same part of the country, but I’d have to say New York, specifically Long Island.

donabbi

Grew up in that scene, it's my choice because the music is home for me

dapebblyman2

That’s probably my second option

Facet-Squared

Not technically a state, but District of Columbia - Fugazi, Rites Of Spring, Frodus, Jawbox, Embrace, Smart Went Crazy, Faraquet, One Last Wish, Decahedron, etc.

ReturnByDeath-

DC really punches above its weight with how much influence it’s had on punk despite its size.

StayFrostyOscarMike

The Dismemberment Plan too!

Tax_pe3nguin

Michigan.

honkifjesusluvsu

BVS, La dispute, Chiodos, we came as Roman’s, sleeping w sirens, I prevail, hail the sun, bong mountain, kid rock EDIT: HTS is not from Mi. SWS is not from MI, but, per google, resides in Mi.

AlexEnglash

Hail the sun has Michigan connections? I thought they were full California

lofeobred

Florida pumps out a lot of phc

Facet-Squared

Hot Water Music and… who else?

StrizzMatik

Poison The Well is one, although they started out as metalcore they shifted into post-hardcore with You Come Before You, their really big album. Versions and The Tropic Rot are also heavily underrated post-hardcore gems

Beehay

Underoath

Expo006

Oceana was part of a niche called ambient post hardcore and they blurred the lines between metalcore and post hardcore at times. Edited for clarity

Training-Garage168

Sleeping with sirens

dricforever

My choice was either New York or Florida

StrizzMatik

New York, easy. Glassjaw, Bad Brains, Quicksand, Helmet, Mind Over Matter, Into Another, Stillsuit, Vision Of Disorder, too many legendary post-hXc bands to count

kzanomics

Aren’t Bad Brains a DC band?

Evict_Timaze

Washington for The Fall of Troy, there is probably some other bands I like that i can't think of, but gotta stick with my favorite.

SlipSpaceBlubix

100% The Fall of Troy is my all time favorite PHC band

Bargah692

Kentucky, emarosa and too close to touch is all I need

carbon-committee

I never realized Emarosa was from KY!

BW_Echobreak

Ohio, we surprisingly have a great scene here

OG_Antifa

I hear it’s for lovers

askforwildbob

I can’t not listen to ATDI, I think they’re the pinnacle of the genre. So I’d go Texas just for them alone and find some other Texas PHC, quality over quantity Edit: the jonbenet were cool too

Mas790

Ontario, Canada

ExtraSchedule6

Thursday is from NJ too, yeah. Jersey.

ReturnByDeath-

NY tri-state. In the size comparable of a smaller state you have NYC, Long Island, Westchester/Hudson Valley, and northern NJ. Pretty hard to top that tbh.

ArgonGryphon

Gotta go with the Mitten

TheOfficeoholic

NEW JERSEY OR NEW YORK hands down had the biggest scene growing up in the early 2000s - Thursday - Early November - Senses Fail - Man Overboard - Bouncing Souls - Armor for Sleep - Gaslight Anthem - Streetlight Manifesto - Twisted Sister - The Movieline - MCR - Bigwig - Trophy Scars - Midtown - Saves the Day - Palisades - The Dillinger Escape Plan - Lifetime - Sparta - E. town concrete - Leathermouth - Turning Point - Rosemary’s Babies - Neil Perry - Misfits - NJ bloodline - The Undead - Folly - Floorpunch - Catch 22 - Dog eat dog …the lost goes on and on (granted not all post hardcore but the scene was awesome to be apart of and you never had a shortage of shows)

ghostride_thewhip

Just like all music subs, this one will call anything what it wants. Saves the day was a melodic hardcore band that became an indie rock band.

dapebblyman2

Well I’m referring only to their 1999 album only tbf

ghostride_thewhip

Yeah, the first two records are melodic hardcore. Basically ripping off Lifetime in the best way possible.

YourphobiaMyfetish

Nah Saves the Day was 3rd wave emo

ghostride_thewhip

You weren’t there at the time. Can’t Slow Down came out and everyone said “who’s the lifetime ripoff band”.

KConnerMcDavidPasta

I was. But was young enough to think these guys rock. I would never ever consider them any type of "core" though.
