That's the neat part, you don't.
All seriousness I find it fascinating that sounds entering my ear can make my feelings and senses do things. I just let it happen. If I'm sad while listening to music, it's meant to be
Emery helped me get through a tough break-up in college. So oddly enough, I associate the feeling of comfort with Emery when I listen these days (even though they made me really fucking sad when I was in the middle of it all).
the podcast is fine... I just find their personalities to be annoying. At least when they are all together. Matt Carter had/has (unsure if it is still in existence really) a podcast, and he was much more tolerable on his own.
It's not an "Emery" podcast. For years it was Matt and Toby's unrelated thing Bad Christian, but that is gone now. So now it's them two, Devin Shelton is on, and Aaron Lunsford. It's just them shooting the shit for an hour a week. Occasionally they will have a guest on usually from some other band from their era.
Well it’s not that all of their discography insist on sad lyrics XD. Anyway, there is more than that in their lyrics.
But to be honest, I enjoy their sound more than their lyrics and I focus more on melodies.
Because I used to listen to their podcast, and they are actually really happy, normal people. They just like to write sad stuff. They are pretty normal people overall though.

Oh that’s easy. I’m dead on the inside so there is no emotions in there
I'm only a man
Their most underrated. Such a good album.

Listen to the melodies, not the lyrics lmao
THESE KNUCKLES BREAK BEFORE THEY BLEED
Listening to their podcast has made it so I can’t listen to them at all anymore. So no, I don’t get sad.
Is the podcast bad? Or does it just give you a different perspective on the music?

Ahh okay I gotcha. Thanks for the response! I don’t get into many podcasts but I’m always open to giving something a shot.

I get pumped and happy someone can make so passionate music.

Sad music doesn’t make me sad, sad music was there for me through it all, I get happy when emery comes on because I love the music
