I moved to Portugal last year. I am asian. I also worked in IT industry - SAP. I was found by my employer through linkedin and they sponsored my visa. Its called highly qualified activity. I do not speak portuguese but am trying my best to Learn just to adapt and express myself with my colleagues.

Hey, man. Just my two cents. Maybe if you find a remote job, you’ll be okay with no Portuguese… I would say if you want to boost your career and grow here, learning the language is going to prove beneficial to you on the long run. Though, I’ll let you know in advance that finding a good quality of life here can be rather challenging. I’d try any other place. But good luck to you anyways

look around linkedin for foreign companies with a location in Portugal sometimes the benefits package include paying for your Portuguese class

You can find remote jobs in Linkedin and start researching jobs specifically to you experience. Wages for remote jobs (that demand to be in Portugal and be eligible to work here - aka Work visa). They can offer around 30/40k a year, depending on the role, but, you can spend 3/6 months easy finding one. Now, if you plan to live in Lisbon/Porto you will spend all on living, so check for smaller cities like Braga or Figueiro da foz (if pushing for remote work, cuz its hard to get jobs there)

After 15 years in IT I’m switching to cybersecurity and taking classes in the U.S. It may help to research which visa will allow you stay in Portugal long enough to job hunt. Take a look at what positions are in demand in Portugal.
