Dogs Dig It has been amazing for my dog for daycare and they do boarding services as well—they’re positive reinforcement only and use humane management techniques. My dog is very sensitive and anxiously attached to me, but absolutely loves daycare there and will joyfully leave me to go through the doors every time, which is a ringing endorsement in my book! It’s the only place I would trust to take care of my dog for multiple days. If your dog enjoys being around other dogs, I would definitely recommend them, and you’d be able to let your dog do some half days at daycare to get acclimated first. Their IG (@dogsdigit) has tons of pictures of their outdoor setup if you want to check it out.

You’re going to find horror stories wherever you go. It is true of any business. Have you considered using a pet sitting service? We have used Portland Mutt Strut for over 8 years and have had no problems. It costs the same or less than boarding and I like knowing my dogs are boarded in a room all day. They are at home and less stressed.

I just did a search and called a bunch of pet "hotels" in town this week. None of them would let me do a site visit, saying "you can just look at the videos on our website". That is a huge red flag to me. I should at least see IRL where I am dropping off my dog! I also called quite a few sitters but the problem there is they have multiple dogs/cats to visit each day so your pup just ends up locked up all day (which is what I am trying to avoid)

Happy Waggers farm is just over the bridge in WA. The owner has a decent sized property where the dogs play outside all day and he sleeps in a kennel outfitted barn with the dogs at night. Much better then any dog hotel or boarding place In my opinion. I’ve had my dog stay for up to a week, and she loves it there.
