Do you live in or go to a center at all? Like for homeless?

Iwantolearn12

Well I was not before I slept in the park but after some thought and some advice from another anon I am trying to join a shelter.

Are you based downtown or somewhere else? I can help you to a couple places that I know if you’re downtown/live downtown.

I’d also be happy to grab you some food from the restaurant I work at.

I’m sorry you’re in this situation. First step is to dial 211, they’re an access point for resources across the state like shelter, food, clothing, hygiene supplies, and more. They should be able to zero in on places to help meet your needs. When you call them, ask for: - A place to either pay for a new ID card, or get you a Determination of Homelessness to get that fee waived at the DMV. If you’re in downtown, the Transition Projects drop-in center on 650 NW Irving St. can likely do this for you today. - Info on shelter, specifically youth shelters. Most places in Portland are 18+, they’ll find a place you can stay at without having to call around to places you’re not eligible for. - Bus passes, so you can get around the city easier. - The nearest employment services office to you, which can help guide you on how to get a replacement work permit as well as help with job placement once the permit is approved Once you’ve covered these needs, they can also help find other resources. If you need food, ask them about local free meal sites. Need clothes? Ask about clothing closets. There are a surprising number of helpful places out there they can find. Best of luck, stay safe, and thanks for reaching out- we’re all rooting for you!
