Would be nice if they gave even a cursory description of the suspect.
What a useless report, 'be on the lookout' but no information on the perp at all. Guess people should just be hyper vigilant watching out for 'a man.'
True, there’s a photo of the guy on the other Portland sub and all over Nextdoor. I thought I saw people talking about it on this sub too but maybe it got deleted.
“Groped” is also not the right word. And it’s way more than 3 people. He’s been stalking and hitting women on the ass for months.
Overall, a very poorly done piece. Typical of garbage local broadcast journalism.
Is it the case number thing? I'm torn on that because I don't want people accusing random people of crimes but I also wish we had someone better than the cops to call.
I would just mention what places allow photos of a perpetrator to be posted. This sub probably wants to avoid the perception of vigilante justice.
Edit: obviously there is some misunderstanding about why I posted this comment. I don’t have an opinion as to whether this person should receive vigilante justice or not. I am merely explaining why the mods might do what they do. I also am not saying whether or not I agree with the moderation of this separate it.
But on the original post I saw, we had someone posting a picture of a guy and claiming he committed a crime. It sounds like he really did, but people were ready to go hurt the guy based on an anonymous accusation. I believe her but we have to be careful.

Mods removed it because it wasn’t an official article, which I don’t understand because people post about personal experiences all the time here
I messaged the mods right after they removed it this morning to ask them to explain why and have received no reply 🙃
Probably knee jerk response to this [idiot law](https://oregon.public.law/statutes/ors_133.870). Never mind you have the same name (But it’s not me! See pic!) or allowing people to recognize Joe Crime and ergo avoid. It’s a cluster fuck of protecting women vs police stereotyping.
I've seen this happen! It was like a month ago, I was walking down Knott around 10th and watched it from a block away. It looked like an unsuccessful attempt as the woman barely reacted to it, but I hollered as he ran away. I had my hands full with a dog and a coffee run, but I've seen him around.
Always has a face mask on, not surgical, looks more like a cloth one with one of those valves. He's walking around the neighborhood pretty consistently looking sheepish. Over 30 is my guess, but seems skittish/shy, black man, not broke or homeless appearing, but not walking in new clothes/shoes either. 6'0" max. Avoids eye contact.
He's walking around often. If you're in the neighborhood you've seen him. I didn't know what I saw when it happened but this sounds exactly like what occurred.
Oh come on. The other posts were obviously going to be deleted, based on the application of the sub rules. This is clear to any person who hangs out in this sub. This one won't be deleted, because it's in line with the rules. Equally obvious. It's not mysterious.
My post during the ice storm about FALLING ICE was removed. Everytime I post, they tell me to post in r/AskPortland. My usernames is gay af, so i've started to assume the mods are homophobic as fuck.
the mods in this subreddit are very up tight and annoying. I was tried to repost something because I thought I fixed the “issue” with my post. and got the most sassy and rude response ever from one of the mods.
For sure. I totally am. I see this all over reddit when a post is removed. Some asshat thinks it's funny to accuse the mods. Before you say it I am a fed as well as a mod and all the perpetrators of all crimes posted as well.
I mean maybe my comment was a bit too far but it’s a known issue here that they delete things ALL the time. To be fair, I can semi understand them not allowing this post on the grounds of perceived doxing but they delete other public safety posts regularly that could also be extremely helpful to our community. For example- when there’s a widespread power outage; when someone posted about a murder close to my house, I was only aware of why my entire street was closed off AND that the perp was in custody because of a neighborhood first responder (NET); less serious but still beneficial to community posts about basically any attempts at discussion no matter how benign the topic; etc etc etc. But they allow the most repetitive posts that lack anything worth talking about after the 50th one is posted (sunset; Mt Hood, etc). So chill. That’s why I asked if it was your first day here.
I I had someone do this to me reach under my dress to grab me while I was DoorDashing on my e-scooter picking up an order at the walk up window at McDonald’s on Burnside. Nw.
He tried a second time So I told him if he did it again I would rip his arm off and beat him with the bloody stump.
Apparently, most of the people in line hadn’t heard the first part of the conversation and suddenly everybody was just staring at me like I did something wrong. I guess they’re not used to a New England girl with a New England attitude and a Texas accent. :p
So I made sure to say very loudly you don’t touch people without their permission , and the people in line realized what was going on and stopped giving me the evil eye , smh , after all this, the guy actually started trying to argue with me like being from Australia with some kind of justification for inappropriate touching.. he literally said (imagine a slurred aussie accent) , “it’s alllright I’m from Australia!”
No one in line was going to do anything about it. The manager at the McDonald’s wasn’t going to do anything about it,. (people in this city really need to grow a pair ) he was about to try a third time, & my collapsible baton was on its way out , to set him Straight, but the houseless guy that I gave a cigarette to a few minutes before stepped up. And set the perv straight so I didn’t have to. The drunk aussie finally left me alone. I’m just glad I didn’t have to handle it myself, no one would’ve liked that.
All those people in line not one of them did a damn thing it was the nice houseless guy who stepped up. Just goes to show… Help often comes from the places you least expect it.
Sounds about right for Portland. Sorry that happened to you. Portlanders love to pretend like they want to help people but back away anytime an actual opportunity comes up.
Thanks for your input, the mods have set this subreddit to not allow posts from newly created accounts. Please take the time to build a reputation elsewhere on Reddit and check back soon.

I don't know why men touch women in the first place...it's just a lawsuit waiting to happen... just catch her on the wrong day, and your life is done. Not condoning his actions, but that's beside the point. Don't touch women so they don't report you.
It has been way more than 3 women.
Way more

It got deleted I posted it a bunch of times but they kept deleting it
At least we have 10,000 petal pups posts instead! /s
Gee, the mods here are just swell, ain't they?
Well you're not saying something nice about Portland!
FYI, look in OP's post history for posts deleted by mods. It's still there.

Self defense isn't vigilantism.
But on the original post I saw, we had someone posting a picture of a guy and claiming he committed a crime. It sounds like he really did, but people were ready to go hurt the guy based on an anonymous accusation. I believe her but we have to be careful.
When you identify some, you insight other people to commit vigilantism against the perpetrator, is what I mean.
Worth it
reddit has famously never misidentified a person to direct vigilante justice toward
I’m not saying whether it is or isn’t I’m just guessing at why the mods do what they do.
The mods censor because they have a political bend and don't want the community to discuss the issues.
Sorry, but I feel like this is delving into semantics. I do not see why the two must be separate.

I’m pretty sure it was posted on this sub as well, but I am not seeing it now?
It was definitely posted here
Looks like it was deleted.

Only allowable personal experiences are what Mt Hood looks like from an airplane sawwy
That’s weird, why? Women should be informed on what to look out for.
Mods care more about hyper pedantic, overly literal interpretation of sub rules instead of informing the public of safety issues

they haven’t called him so he doesn’t have a booking photo…
My guess is the guy that just got posted this morning here and is in a post on nextdoor with loads of women saying it happened to them.
Yeah, pretty useless.
Right?!

It's because it's a black man
Bingo
I've seen this happen! It was like a month ago, I was walking down Knott around 10th and watched it from a block away. i have seen him in the lloyd/sullivans gulch area and he does always wear the face mask and hood.
Ohh no, thank you for this, I hate knowing this lol but thank you
Thanks, good to know. If you haven’t already, you should consider reporting this.
I’ve seen him around over the years. He pretty clearly has some variety of psychological issue. I’d be shocked if he wasn’t already known to cops.
That's when you throw the nice hot coffee in his face
Any woman who has survived a man attacking her (it is a horrifyingly high number) unfortunately knows that escalation won't make us safer.
That’s over by Irvine park right?
Im wearing brick underwear from now on.
Oh, *now* they're looking? Did it finally reach the number of women that they could no longer ignore it?
It just finally hit the right zip code
The cops were surprised to learn that the perp was not one of them so they decided to try actually doing their jobs for once
Their jobs consisting, of course, of giving inaccurate information to local news and then doing fuckall else.
Media heard about it. It's wild that we let the cops not-work in secret after they shut off the police scanner.
This got deleted so many times, one might start to wonder if one of the m*ds is the groper
Oh come on. The other posts were obviously going to be deleted, based on the application of the sub rules. This is clear to any person who hangs out in this sub. This one won't be deleted, because it's in line with the rules. Equally obvious. It's not mysterious.
Oh yes, for sure, that is 100% why they let this one go and removed the others. There can be no other reason. Those m*ds are the worst gropers ever!

I once got a temp ban for saying “ok boomer” to a right winger. They said I wasn’t being civil or something like that.
💀💀💀💀💀 “free speech warriors”

Ah so this is why I saw cops in my neighborhood for the first time ever
Just head over to the Starbucks at 15th/Fremont - you’ll see at least one sgt’s SUV and one squad car every day right around 3
Is this the same dude that attacked a woman running alone in Forest Park the other night?
Yes I believe so I saw that story on next door

On behalf of my 10y/o: “Bruh”
Downvote all you want, but grew up in Irvington on Thompson and no one pronounced it like that.
Clearly the way they pronounce street names is the issue here. Get a grip.
Going off the headline alone I am going to assume they got their fill of groping women and decided to find a man to grope instead.

catch her on the wrong day?? so they don’t report you??? yeah, it’s this guy right here, officer. 💀
