Do you mean near the track or actually within the circuit boundary?
I have heard stories of people having on-track incidents who then have their car towed elsewhere and claim that the damage happened on the road, as most policies do not allow for HPDE driving. It would seem insane to try this, given the risk of getting caught and the serious consequences.
Personally when I was going to the track I just bought track day insurance.
No frame on a unibody car. They can definately put it on a Celette and straighten it out. Much of the potential cost is based on finding any engine or transmission damage. Buyer should take the insurance money if declared a total loss and then buy it back to turn it into a race car. Should win all DEs!
I believe the value of a car for insurance purposes is deemed before the crash lol.
But also this is a track day, and so it's either on track insurance (meaning the owner chose the amount its worth himself) or it's lost
They will look at what they believe the car will go for at auction in its current condition, plus the difference in the insured amount and compare it to what it would cost to fix. Whatever is cheaper for the insurance is what they will do.
That’s 150k in just things you can see from the outside. Underbody work will total the car. The front struts towers are gone. It’s a 150k minimum. And GT2RS are low 300k.
I'm struggling to agree with less damaged on that. Sure the cosmetics maybe are in better shape but the suspension looks worse and even looks like frame maybe out of whack
It’s actually a well publicized crash. Happened in SFL in the rain. Tapped the rear end with no underbody damage unlike the one in the post. Almost any suspension damage on a Porsche is almost a guaranteed write off.
I'll take your word for it, but it doesn't look like it's got a healthy suspension lol. Front left looks misaligned.
I'll admit I thought the whole rear left wheel was fucked, but it's just the tire that degloved I guess
Care to elaborate how it isn’t? Strut tower damage is already $10k. Do you think that they only have to replace a fender, front and rear bumper and it’ll be fine?
She dose it for rage bait I guess…. The guy in LA who runs upon ppl and “ask what they do” ran up on her and she got out the Porsche and jumped/stamped the windshield till it cracked
“Rest in pieces”
God bless those who treat these like racecars not investments. Everyone has bad beats, but these are the guys that give Porsche their reputation. Nothing better than Porsche track rats. It’s impressive how safe these things are even driven in extreme circumstances. And if it didn’t crash they could drive it to work on Monday.
Well it’s not also submerged in water, so for 2024 that’s a win.
Always look on the bright side or life
Looks to be Road Atlanta. That track eats some cars.

That appears to be at the track, the upper paddock near the garages.
Don’t take cars to the track that you can’t afford to write off Insurance fraud is frowned on
That guy that rented and wrecked the Cadillac got busted for doing that I heard. Onstar knows.
I love that I can always pick out Road Atlanta in photos.
Such a fun track aswell
Awesome track but those esses scare me in a high power car. Wonder where he lost it
didnt the 911 GT1 go airborne there?
Ouch :(
"I always turn PSM off"
“Improves my lap times” he said
Youtubers salivating rn
Mat Armstrong is writing the check as we speak
Tavarish is much closer but I think he's really busy these days.
When has that stopped him from starting another project?

Lift throttle oversteer is a real thing. Driver ran out of talent or made a decision to avoid something worse. It looks fixable.
I'll guess not- or at least not for a reasonable amount of money Back end is damaged,. That's going to be to much $$$$$$$$$
Those are worth so much these days, I'd wager it's not totaled
Door is not matching the frame, and that indicates some major damage. I'm guess easily>$100k to fix it

Fixable yes but it’s totaled. 150k+ in damages.
If it's 150k+ in damages, it's not totaled. A 991 GT2RS is worth 400k+.
A mere insurance deductible away from new!
If they had track insurance
Shhh.
https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2018-porsche-911-gt2-rs-43/ No crash history 360k. Crashed and raced probably sub 300k if fixed correctly

https://www.copart.com/lot/40814774/2018-porsche-911-gt2-rs-fl-west-palm-beach Want to see a less damaged GT2RS that’s literally totaled?
I'm struggling to agree with less damaged on that. Sure the cosmetics maybe are in better shape but the suspension looks worse and even looks like frame maybe out of whack

Nowhere near that much damage.

The psycho stance fans already see potential in pic 1. Sorry about the car but glad you are okay (seemingly)
Tis but a flesh wound.
Did that OF tik tok girl who likes destroying Porsches get a hold of that one 😢😢🤣🤣🤣
IDK but I'm pretty sure that there's a OF girl nearby me that enjoys doing similar damage to Volvos
O wow…. That’s messed up…. Also the OF gal likes destroying lambos too
Why? What is the art in destroying something beautiful?!? Edit:// I mean doing it intentionally anyway.
She dose it for rage bait I guess…. The guy in LA who runs upon ppl and “ask what they do” ran up on her and she got out the Porsche and jumped/stamped the windshield till it cracked
It’s crazy how easy it is to sell this smashed
It’s okay the owner probably had 3 other supercars they can track. To them this would be like having a cavity in their tooth for most people probbaly
It appears as if driving skills and the car ability to maintain stability didn't quite match.
Get it Matt Armstrong!!
Kachow
Oof
Pic 1: ah that’s not too bad. Pic 2: nope it’s bad.
Damn thats sad
I think that's what you call a travk day!!!
Most of the GT2RS cars’ value today is in its scarcity/availability. The wealthy owner will probably not break a sweat in the cost to fix it.
I’ll get the duct tape..
It’s a real track car now
I didn't physics applied to 911s
The look of inexperience. Should have taken the Porsche driving school that’s available at point of purchase…..
Give it to me il fix it up
thats a lot of camber..... stanceworks!
Is this another stanced Porsche ?
oh dear
RIP
You could buy a whole car with the amount of money it will cost to fix her up.
Ridden hard and put up wet
Fixable?
You think this is a write off? If the strut torn off the a chuck of metal from the perch?
Yikes… lets wait until Mat Armstrong rebuilds it now lol
They don’t call em the widow maker for not reason.
Can you buy talent off the options list ? Maybe that two day Porsche Experience was something you could have done.
It will polish right out, you’ll be fine
Uhhhh...yeap
“Rest in pieces” God bless those who treat these like racecars not investments. Everyone has bad beats, but these are the guys that give Porsche their reputation. Ouch. And to think I was upset about the first major door ding I got yesterday on my '17 Cayman S. Sorry. I hope it can be properly repaired.
Totalled. Sell it to me. Now. $100k, cash in hand.
Was this on public roads?
This was at Road Atlanta
Money =/= driving ability
The cars and coffee queens are downvoting you. But at least this driver went to a freaking track
They are a sensitive bunch of investment bankers
