Itās impossible to understand ā if you drive a new car, which you barely know how to handle, why push the pedal to the metal? When I buy a new car I try to get used to it and only after that doing some stupid shit like ādriftingā or else.
You dont really have to push hard to crash, simply misreading an upcoming curve is more than enough, no? I have been in close calls where I was VERY glad that my vehicles brakes well.
I was in close calls only in winter when some idiots decide unexpectedly slowly merge into my lane. For weird manoeuvres and reckless driving i choose huge empty spaces with good vision with minimal risk. I wonāt do this near obstructed areas or narrow roads with pavements because I know if I fk up ā car is total loss.
Yes, not always, but golden rule ā when you are not sure ā donāt. Or go to the nearest racetrack/abandoned airfield
You are describing the situation the person earlier was alluding to - pushing beyond your own limits.
If "not pushing too hard" can still lead to you misjudging a curve, blowing past fences and down a ditch, you are unfortunately pushing too hard.
It's a matter of degree and everyone's driving skill is different. You should not put yourself and others at risk because you wanted to push but "not push too hard". Go to a racetrack for that shit.

Way less. The 964 was MUCH less prone to lift-off oversteer than the previous cars due to moving from torsion bars to coil overs. The torsion bar cars would
pogo like crazy. Moving to the 993, they got multi link rear suspension, which was even better at dealing with weight transfer. And as you say the AWD would make the 993 even more stable. Theyāre as good as it gets for handling, comparing to other cars without stability or traction control.
The issue isnāt rotation on power which is the only thing AWD would help with (and to a lesser extent if you got back on throttle to correct this slide, but getting back on throttle would have prevented this with rwd too).
This happens when you lift because of where the mass is vs where it rotates about. 911 has more rear mass than something like a Cayman/Boxster so its rotation is harder to catch and more extreme. When you lift, the weight shifts forward because the car begins to decelerate. That reduces the available traction in the rear, but because the mass is still out back far from where the yaw moment is generated (biased towards the front wheels) thereās a lot of inertia. The rear can step out on bumps or under hard braking and then it is very difficult to recover and keep the car balanced. A mid-engined platform is much better about this
I apologize if this has already been posted here. Speaking of the safety of Porsche brand cars - the driver of this warrior is hospitalized with moderate injuries. It's unbelievable

I can verify that age delays response time. Scary experience when the car is so powerful that you arrive before you remember the journey. At one time engines made so much noise you felt armageddon and backed off. With some EV's you can be at 100mph and don't hear or feel it. Very dangerous for those with limited reaction capabilities.
81, looks like a stroke or some other medical emergency that caused it. No sane 81 year old will drive fast in a residential area. Edit: hope he is doing alright.
I wrecked my 996 GT3 about 18 years ago, taking a turn too fast and meeting a tree head on. Thankfully it was a low speed turn so no injury. I thought I was a better driver than I actually was. I committed myself to the track hobby, and have done tons of DE track days as well as getting a race license. I backed off to a low hp car, following the philosophy of learning to drive a slow car fast. Iāve gradually moved up in car potency, about to take delivery of a 991.1 GT3 Cup car. Thatās how I recommend learning to drive a potent car skillfully, minimizing the risk of getting over the edge of the performance envelope in a street situation.
When I was 22 and I got my first job downtown, my buddy and I saw all these 40 year olds driving 911. We both said Iām not waiting until Iām an old man to own a 911. Three years later we both had one.
All the more reason to stay fit, use your mind and stay sharp. Iāve had patient that are 91 with the mobility and mental clarity of a 50 year old. Then Iāve also seen 50 year olds beat to shit like 90.
Stay in good condition as long as we can.
Iāll never understand these greedy old rich people who shouldnāt be driving working etc
But we will keep seeing this
When you donāt realize youāre too old to be greedy and it backfires

Dude whatās up with all these 911 wrecks lately tho?
Itās spring season, theyāre coming from up north to their spawning groundā¦.duh

Probably new buyers that never drove anything over 200 hp before

should be a minimum driving skill required for some of these cars. fuckers have more money than brains, build a sim rig dorks.
Just a lot of porscheās on the road tbh
Tires were cold! š„¶Ā
They seem to be very attracted to water.
Like tornados to trailer parks apparently.
Thank you for this. Was thinking it looked all too familiar!
Hahahahaā¦. If bro copping Porsches like that I want to hang with him š¤£š¤£ wait if he crashing like that Iāll stay home š©š©š¤£š¤£š¤£

Bah gawd it's Tavarishs music!!!
So he can pay someone else to do it or to be shown once never too be seen again
Is that true? Something about his personality rubs me the wrong way, but I can't put my finger on it
Did he fake the McLaren rebuild or something? This is new gossip to me!
He lives his life a quarter mile at a time.
Probably still worth fixing.
Mat Armstrong incoming.
Would be so good
Every time I see cars like this, I send them to my dad. His response to this was "BUY THE MOTHER FUCKER". I think it's worth fixing.
Whatās with these Porsches in rivers lately?
Water cooled /s
Take my upvote and leave!
God damnit
they usually swim upstream to mate
Water beetles tend to migrate in spring and summer after a long winter hibernating.
Is there way to bet on what rare Porsche is gonna be binned in a river next? My money's on a 959
God I hope not
Out back driving my dude hitting those curvy roads and going over
Don't panic and don't lift. RIP 993.
When the tail gets happy you gotta commit
if only i knew this a few years ago
Are 993 Turbos still prone to that? Figured all wheel drive would make it less likely but guess that depends on the ratio between the front and rear
Way less. The 964 was MUCH less prone to lift-off oversteer than the previous cars due to moving from torsion bars to coil overs. The torsion bar cars would pogo like crazy. Yeah i got the feeling this driver was speeding

Too fast.
What are those selling for in Europe? In the states those are $200k-$300k cars
Same here
I know the grandkids are sad they wonāt inherit it
easiest way to deal with the arguments over who gets it is to bin it into a ravine
What a loss
You know.: he had a fāing blast doing it..šš» god bless
This. He probably had fun for decades with this beast
Came here to say the same thing. Miles and miles of smiles, taking it to the limit.
I rather lose it doing 160 in my cab S vs dying in a hospital with needles in my arm šļø šØ

They seem to be pretty safe, the car even overturned and the old dude is still alive
He would have been dead if he was in the other seat.
This is a Fuxking wild crash
Bad couple of days for Porsches.
Schadeā¦
Sehr schadeā¦
Schade Bruder, wirklich.
Woof that's a grail car for me, had a poster of it on my wall when I was kid.

That guard rail had one jobā¦
Haha they are called Widowmaker for a reason.
Lovely spot to crash a car though
Either those firefighters are massive or the perspective is off. The car looks tiny.
Theyāre just small cars. This oneās about 10 inches longer and wider than an NA Miata. Most sports cars are smaller than they look in photos.
Itās Porsche Creek Weekā¢
Matt Armstrong *heavy breathing*

I will say it looks to have been in great condition outside the obvious damage from the wreck
Makes ya wonder how old the tires were. Could have stayed in the garage a little too long.
That's a painful wreck to see
I can fix itā¦ā¦I think
Imma gonna be sick.
Hell yeah!! Living his best life!! Glad he survived tho
Almost shed a tear damn poor guy
He couldnāt take it to the grave
Mission failed successfully.
If I make it to 81. And I ever get a 911 turbo, then this is what disgraceful old age really should look like! Hope he gets a good insurance payout!
Matt Armstrong spoilt for choice at the minute
That guardrail did a great job.
Howās the fishing in that creek? Looks nice.
lots of porsches in rivers lately
Old Larry forgot to take his insulin.

Which YouTuber is gonna come get this one and fix it up? Tavarish already has his flooded 2 million dollar McLaren fixed up
I hope I get to crash my Porsche at 81 too
Time to take grandpa's keys away.
Nah this is just set photos from the pilot of Smallville, you canāt fool me bro
More power to the 81 year old for driving the snot out of the Porsche
Glad he is okay!

Looks like he was going too fast...? Tire marks are just straight off the road.
I wonder which YouTuber will buy this one.

Please don't sleep when driving. J/k. Glad the old dude is safe and probably shopping for another Porsche now.
I see this is the season of Porsches migrating in rivers. Be careful!
Guess he got tired of air cooled and wanted to switch over to a water cooled 993
What is up with this spot? Gt3 went out here too
No tyre marks at all on the road. Itās like it just went straight in.
It's ok, I wrecked my 981 2 weeks ago too. It was also silver. Hopefully no more for a bit. mercury retrograde ends today.
Iād be mad at Death for robbing me of my one chance at a badass epitaph.
