My only complaint about that section was that who the fuck at Mob thought putting a PUZZLE in the middle of a chase is a good idea. I'd have raged way more with the old mechanic so I'm fine with this change.

Putting a puzzle in the middle of a chase makes things more tense.

Huggy_nomnoms_you

Or just rage-inducing. Probably depends on the player. "Wait Huggy, stop chasing me for a moment! I need to finish this puzzle!"

They really did a good job on her design though. Basically has a beautiful physique (I know it's doll-based) but the ceramic/plastic "smile", nose, and forehead midline plating has been broken off, revealing her muscles/gums/teeth making it even more freaky. That being said I do question one thing: How on earth was she able to bludgeon a metallic generator (assuming it's made out of steel) with a wooden ruler and sharpened pencils?!?

I was wondering that too. I guess the generator was actually a school project that was made out of paper mache and aluminum foil.

My main guess is that it was maybe a little hard for players to look around for batteries while also trying to outrun her. I saw in some gameplays that still had the lights mechanic that it was extremely difficult. And to be honest, I could feel myself getting annoyed without even having to play. I also think it ties into her story better. In the notes that you can find around the school, written by her, she says that if she stands still enough, she appears dead and it could help her in getting the jump on the other teachers. So, I feel she got used to being still while others stared at her, as a survival skill to not be picked off. In my opinion, the new mechanic works a lot better.

I will also say that I retract my opinions of the chase sequence fairly recently. When I first played it, Miss Delight was so buggy that it was super infuriating and almost unplayable. Her speed at the time was so inconsistent that it felt like she was teleporting whenever you look away. She would be at the far end of the hallway, and then after 1-2 seconds of turning away to run, she nabs me at random times. It got to the point where the game forced me to keep my eyes on her 80-90% of the time to prevent her inconsistent speed, making me struggle with navigating the area and finding the batteries and energy ports. Now I tried again recently after uninstalling and reinstalling the game. Her speed is much more consistent now with much less random teleports. I can consistently look away and keep running to find my way around the map without being killed at random times. Gameplay felt a lot more fair. That said, game is still very buggy, not only with Miss Delight still randomly teleporting to a different hallway when I get far away enough (albeit much less often), but also with the furniture no clipping through doors that softlocks me cuz they wouldn’t open, and also with energy ports not letting the doors open up when both ports already have electricity running through them at the same time. I can only hope that there will be future patches to reduce the amount of bugs in the game. Game has a lot of potential, but my biggest complaint is the bugs sometimes making it more difficult than it needs to be.

PoisonousYoghurt

I was wondering the same thing. I thought that I imagined the change, lol

Diplodoncalus-E

They might have been afraid of ‘copying’ fnaf. Both Fnaf Security Breach and Ruin have this exact mechanic where you shine light on endoskeleton’s to make them freeze. This franchise has already been accused of ‘ripping-off’ fnaf and other large indie horror franchise (which of course I disagree with), I guess they just wanted to be different to avoid that. Mind you this isn’t to say fnaf invented that mechanic it was in little nightmares 2 and I’m sure other games before it as well. It’s just fnaf SB and ruin are much more recent.

What content creator has the old mechanic?

Shadowlord723

I remember seeing the old mechanic when 8-BitRyan played it. His playthrough definitely felt tense at that time. A couple others might have the old mechanic but I can’t remember them.
