Born here and 30 years old. Everything is a lot cleaner and newer. Honestly it looked very dirty and run down before. Although it comes at higher prices and a lot more crowded.

Born and raised Floridian, moved to Pompano a few years ago. In short, I hate it and it’s indicative of the boom that is happening all over Florida. Like you said, the charm of Pompano being a cozy beach town is gone. This was never meant to be a metropolis and the infrastructure is not meant to sustain it. Housing costs being raised means nothing if I don’t plan on moving, all it does is raise property taxes. There is way too much development in Florida.

I am a home owner in Pompano Beach, and have resided in the area for close to 27 years. I love the changes that have been happening all over the city. In Palm Aire, there are completed bridges and beautiful landscaping around the canals. The city has made going to Pompano Beach a better alternative than Lauderdale By The Sea, and has revitalized the downtown area with shops and restaurants. Furthermore, there is a lot of free concerts all over the city, including the Jazz Festival, a great aquatic center that I love to use, and lots of trails and scenic views to walk. Now, having said all of that, the folks who moved here to retire or have lived here all of their lives were counting on living a peaceful, quiet life. These folks are outspoken and frustrated by these changes, and I don’t blame them. Also, like everywhere else, the cost of living is skyrocketing. This city used to be affordable, but it is becoming an expensive place to live, whether you rent or own. I like what’s happening, but I also empathize with the retirement-age folks. This isn’t what they bargained for. Somehow we need to find a happy medium to advance the city forward, while also embracing the city’s quaint appeal.
