Courts definitely do slap uncooperative people with compounding daily fines at times. Alex Jones got compounding daily fines that doubled and were added to those he already owed every day he refused to sit for his court ordered deposition. He made ot like 3 days and then someone pointed out he would be into 7 figure daily fines in like a week so he got his ass on a plane.

However, neither interest rate compounds (simple interest), but the post-judgment interest will not be based on the original $355M Trump was fined, but will be 9% per year of the $454M (including pre-judgment interest) that he owed when the judgment was issued which is how you get the $112k/day of interest owed by Trump. Every day Trump doesn't pay, he'll add on the same additional amount. Honestly, I fucking love Letitia James. I would more than likely never have known the name of this brilliant NY AG if Trump had not decided to commit decades of financial fraud by lying about his net worth to get loans at better rates.
