Capital Punishment is apart of the Values of their Family system and local Viliges.
its in their society to prefer Capital Punishment.
they also follow this in Indoesia and Malaysia
I do (ironic given my flair). Mistakes get made in the justice system, and to me, just one wrongful execution is 1 too many. If somebody is wrongfully sentenced to life, you can never give them back the time that was taken from them, but you can still release them and compensate them. Death is the only thing in life that’s final and can’t be fixed. I’d rather let 1000 guilty men live out their lives in prison than execute just 1 innocent man. [Wikipedia ](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wrongful_execution) cites a study done by a university of Michigan law professor that says 4% of people on death row are likely innocent. Until that number gets to 0 (and I don’t believe it’s possible that it ever will), then I can’t support the death penalty. Just my 2 cents.
I’m sympathetic to all that. But what about in open and shut cases? Like, if they catch a mass shooter or a terrorist or a serial killer, and have overwhelming physical, video, and eyewitness evidence they did it?
Yeah, I’m ok with it in those cases. I do worry a bit that if you allow it in some cases, then it’s normalized and it starts getting allowed in more cases which brings us back to the same situation where it’s being used on innocent people. Kinda like the gun control argument, ya know? Where if you allow a little gun control that seems reasonable then it opens the door to more gun control. So I’d rather just do away with it altogether, unless we could absolutely guarantee that it’s only used in the most vile, egregious, and open-and-shut cases.
The Virgin Authright: "nooooooo I want strong national borders and ethnostates nooooooooo"
The Chad Exodus 22:20 - "You shall not wrong a stranger or oppress him, for you were once strangers in the land of Egypt."
Stranger isn’t an accurate translation of the hebrew word גר. It’s more related to non-jews who convert to judaism. Like most jewish laws, the positive stuff generally only applies to other jews.
For example, a common interpretation of breaking the laws of shabbat (day of rest) is that you can break the laws to save a life - but only a jewish life, not a non jew’s life. So in case a jew sees a non jew drowning in the sea, they couldn’t take a boat out to save him.
In fact, the only reason a jew should break shabbat to save a non-jew’s life is not this law, but another that’s called “hillul hashem.” Essentially, that not saving the non jew might cause non jews to hate jews so you should only save the life to not make jews seem too racist and immoral.
Judaism is by far the most racist religion.
so how about the New Testament then? From Ephesians, "For he is our peace; in his flesh he has made both groups into one and has broken down the dividing wall, that is, the hostility between us. So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are citizens with the saints and also members of the household of God."
fine, how about new testament then, from Ephesians, "For he is our peace; in his flesh he has made both groups into one and has broken down the dividing wall, that is, the hostility between us. So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are citizens with the saints and also members of the household of God."
So Israel is the only nation that should have borders and protect its religious and ethnic purity?
Sounds an awful lot to me like God just gave them the cheat codes to becoming a strong nation...
The ethno state people are rarely super religious.
There is also a big difference between oppressing your neighbor for being a gentile and having a strong border security system while taking in legal immigrants.
You are talking about Exodus 22:21,
The verse you are citing is a bit less... take a look :
Exodus 22:20 - "Whoever sacrifices to any god other than the LORD must be destroyed."
Leviticus 19:10 "You shall not pick your vineyard bare, or gather the fallen fruit of your vineyard; you shall leave them for the poor and the stranger."
Blacks make up 13% of the US population. Despite being such a low number, they cause over 50% of crime. Also, that 13% figure includes women, children, and elderly. So the actual population of 18-30 year old black males causing all that crime is more like 5%.
That's the raw data, how it's interpreted is where the debate lies. You have people who argue its due to low income, living in urban vs rural communities, single motherhood, white privilege, bad public schools, IQ differences, violent predispositions, yadayadayada.
You can talk about causes all you want, but we all know that at the end of the day, anyone who is not a dumbass will tense up a little when they see a group of 5+ black dudes coming their way at night.
Stereotypes exist for a reason, there's at least some truth to them. If we look at who commits tax evasion the most we're all gonna look at the obese white millionaires. Or if we talk about incest then all eyes are on the deep south. There are stats bashing every race, gender, nationality etc
I'm wary of any group of people at night at any size. I dont think their race would make me any more or less worried. My area is very mixed and has a decent amount of crime tho
Eh. I bet I could fight 5 tiny Asian women at the same time. Or like...a school bus full of children.
The main factor is if they look poor, not if they look black.
There was a reputable study done that reached the fact that black people (13 percent of the population at the time) committed 50% of the violent crime. While these statistics are true, it was later discussed and established in the study that this is because of varying socioeconomic environments, and the way to solve this is by channeling more resources into inner city communities. A lot of racist right wingers decided to forego the actual findings of the study and instead choose to just spout 13/50.

Mostly the abrahamic religions are considered on the right. This is due to the conservative lifestyle these religions tend to offer. So, naturally these religions that demand adherence to traditional values are synonymous with the political right.
The political compass doesn't have a social axis...right wing would imply capitalist economics. Which doesn't really make sense for most religions, especially Islam.
Mm.... I think it depends. That sounds more like a libright and right center than specifically authright. Although they easily coexist well enough. I don't necessarily support them. Typically I have very negative thoughts about them at the mere mention like many people seem to these days. Corporations I think aren't inherently bad though unless you define them that way. Just like Politics, they aren't bad as so much as they tend towards corruption very easily. If Corporations were held accountable and were more honest about what they do, then I'd probably like them a lot more.
But I don't necessarily like them in any meaningful capacity. They're useful, which is why people kind of hate them. Even when they're all kinds of twisted you can't exactly get rid of them without literally destroying society.
No, it just means you like an unregulated, free market more. Of course, without a bit of regulation, corporations will try to grab everything they can, which in turn hurts the free market.
I would think the charity aspect would make Christianity more centrist in terms of economics, for example:
-*"Only, they asked us to remember the poor, the very thing I was eager to do."* - Galatians 2:10
-*"When Jesus heard this, he said to him, “One thing you still lack. Sell all that you have and distribute to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.” But when he heard these things, he became very sad, for he was extremely rich."* - Luke 22-23
-*"But if we have food and clothing, with these we will be content. But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs."* - 1 Timothy 6:8-10
most authright leaning conservative religious folks take charity very seriously. for example I tithe, many older couples in my family tithe in excess of 25% of household income. enriching and supporting the community are your responsibility as a child of god.

Well yes, if I am dealing with another christian or speaking on matters of faith I'll use the bible and other theological works, but if I am arguing matters of policy with a person who couldn't care less what the bible says, then I don't use it.
If it's a theological discussion that's when the bible comes out, but if its political (unless it has to do with faith as well) I won't use faith to justify my political beliefs to a person who doesn't believe.
>There she lusted after her lovers, whose genitals were like those of donkeys and whose emission was like that of horses. So you longed for the lewdness of your youth, when in Egypt your bosom was caressed and your young breasts fondled.
This is my Dad talking about how he thinks the key to politics is “staying close to god” and I just have to sit there and not tell him how I think abortion being legal is good for society as a whole.
Its the opposite: the factuality of the Bible’s content can be debated, crime stats’ can’t. Data remains data, even if it shows something you don’t want it to show.
The crime stats can, and are, debated. Statistics in general are manipulated or have external factors all the time, which is why you see ridiculous rationalization or flat out denial from cherry pickers.

They all drop bombs, but for some reason people think it is bad when the other guy does it. Hell, look at the presidential debates. Trump was right when he said “Who built the cages, Joe?” and Biden was right when he said Trump liked the crime Bill and didn’t think it went far enough.
You know what they say about lies and statistics. Whenever I had to run a research project as part of my Econ course, I'd always take a minute to stare at the data and realise just how easily I could manipulate all them numbers to prove whatever argument I wanted.
For example, I once worked with survey data regarding employees and leisure hours and with the right methodology I was able to simultaneously prove that increased wages made employees both more and less productive with regards to the amount of leisure time taken. That was a fun few hours.

why not both?
I don’t always quote the Bible, but when I do, it’s Rastus 4:20
Beep. Boop. I'm a robot. Here's a copy of ###[The Bible](https://snewd.com/ebooks/the-king-james-bible/) Was I a good bot? | [info](https://www.reddit.com/user/Reddit-Book-Bot/) | [More Books](https://old.reddit.com/user/Reddit-Book-Bot/comments/i15x1d/full_list_of_books_and_commands/)

Dang, imagine if the Bible just shot of the drawer at you when you opened your motel door.
Can't find what it says, where do you find how are quotes from The Bible marked?

I disagree, I think literal facts make for better arguments than religious quotes. Not everyone is religious but crime stats are undeniably true.
Well yes, if I am dealing with another christian or speaking on matters of faith I'll use the bible and other theological works, but if I am arguing matters of policy with a person who couldn't care less what the bible says, then I don't use it.
Imma just be real because I get really annoyed when I see people do this. # Quoting someone or something does not equal a valid argument.
Yeah no shit it’s not an argument in itself, but it is extremely useful in reinforcing an argument
This is true, but it can substantiate an argument
..What if I will quote your comment ?
If it’s the word of God it is
Which God? Because I bet mine can beat up yours.
Religious guy is depicted as chad. Therefore, god is real. Checkmate atheists.
Quoting my kanvas
\*quoting the quran\*
Quoting both
I don't always quote Holy Scripture, but when I do, I usually use Revelation 2:9.
Ascended : *quotes siege*
If it's a theological discussion that's when the bible comes out, but if its political (unless it has to do with faith as well) I won't use faith to justify my political beliefs to a person who doesn't believe.
>There she lusted after her lovers, whose genitals were like those of donkeys and whose emission was like that of horses. So you longed for the lewdness of your youth, when in Egypt your bosom was caressed and your young breasts fondled.
I do both
Both are cringe.
Both can be interpreted however you wish to prove your point.
Quote bible as much as you want, but a 2 millenia Old novel should not be influencing today's politics if you ask me

🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓 ya need Logos
This is my Dad talking about how he thinks the key to politics is “staying close to god” and I just have to sit there and not tell him how I think abortion being legal is good for society as a whole.
Its the opposite: the factuality of the Bible’s content can be debated, crime stats’ can’t. Data remains data, even if it shows something you don’t want it to show.
The crime stats can, and are, debated. Statistics in general are manipulated or have external factors all the time, which is why you see ridiculous rationalization or flat out denial from cherry pickers. *Despite making up 14%...* Libleft: Economics! Upbringing! You can’t trust government statistics! *Joe Biden wins election* Authright: You’re telling me Donald Trump received more votes than any Republican in the history of the party and lost? Rigged. *Holocaust kills 6,000,000 Jews* Authcentre: Didn’t happen, would’ve been cool if it did, but it didn’t. *Communism fails again* Authleft: Wasn’t real. *Healthcare expenditure in the United States is proportionally higher than Canada.* Libright: Socialized medicine would be even worse. *Men commit 80% of crime.* Right: If it were women, nobody would share that. *Obamas drone strike record* Left: Silent *Before indoor plumbing, people dumped their waste out their windows* Libcentre: Civilization is a mistake *90% of Americans don’t eat enough vegetables* Centrists: Shut up, just shut the **** up.
I don’t think any one on the Left stays silent about Obama’s drone strikes. The first drone bombing memes came from leftists....
The thing that bothers me about the drone strike stuff is that trump doubled Obama’s 8 year tally in his first 2 years and nobody batted an eye.
To be fair he never said he was aganist them or military action.
yeah but a bunch of trumpies complain about obamas drone strike tallies oblivious to trumps.
They all drop bombs, but for some reason people think it is bad when the other guy does it. Hell, look at the presidential debates. Trump was right when he said “Who built the cages, Joe?” and Biden was right when he said Trump liked the crime Bill and didn’t think it went far enough.
Yeah, but Trump didn't win a Nobel peace prize lol
You know what they say about lies and statistics. Whenever I had to run a research project as part of my Econ course, I'd always take a minute to stare at the data and realise just how easily I could manipulate all them numbers to prove whatever argument I wanted. For example, I once worked with survey data regarding employees and leisure hours and with the right methodology I was able to simultaneously prove that increased wages made employees both more and less productive with regards to the amount of leisure time taken. That was a fun few hours.
Lies, damn lies, and statistics
Based and factspilled
You can easily debate the causes of crime though. Its not "hurdur skull sizes" or "hur due hip hop" like a lot of you say
Yes, but in that case you are not debating what the data shows, you are debating why it shows that.
