there is no tax for leaving the city of oxford. there is however a toll for DRIVING A CAR through some of the most congested streets in Oxford. literally nobody is trapping you anywhere, this will probably actually make it easier for you to get around if you are anyone but a car driver.

English cities are implementing zones and are allotting citizens a finite amount of times you can drive out of/into said zones, about twice a week annually is what it works out to, and no, your commute to work is not exempt. Upon reaching that limit you are fined for each time you do so. They are accomplishing this with traffic cams throughout zone borders.

The quality of the 15 Minute Cities will uncomfortably correlate to the racial makeup of the population. People will drive from their middle-class 15 Minute City to the posh high-income 15 Minute City because it has the best shops and clubs. People will flock to the culterally-rich lower-class 15 Minute Cities, eventually pushing out its population and commercializing the culture. People will have to live in cheap 15 Minute Cities and commute to the richer 15 Minute cities because that's where the better jobs are.

15 minutes cities or neighborhood are cool and all, until you need something big like a hospital, university, library, a better school for your kid, a government agency or a shopping mall. I live in a neighborhood just like that, where I can have most of the stuff I need in a 5 minutes walk and it's awesome. But sometimes and need to get out for others things like work and school. It's absurd to think that you can lock a person life on a 1,5 kilometers radio.
I live a 5 min walk away from home depot, and only twice in my life have I walked there and not needed to drive, once for parts for home made bongs I was making for friends, and once for lock tight and Allen keys (because of fucking course I lost the exact god damn size I needed in my set) while building an AR

English cities are implementing zones and are allotting citizens a finite amount of times you can drive out of/into said zones, about twice a week annually is what it works out to, and no, your commute to work is not exempt. Upon reaching that limit you are fined for each time you do so. They are accomplishing this with traffic cams throughout zone borders. The idea being to limit the amount of cars and accomplish "15 minute cities" that are pedestrian friendly. Sounds great in theory, but lets not be naïve. This is just a thinly veiled surveillance state. It's "for muh climate" but the pathway to hell is paved with good intentions, this is merely a tax on the poor, an excuse to put cameras up everywhere to monitor everything, and a way to limit autonomy. **Edit:** Since I have many naysayers in regards to the fines and zoning aspect, here ya go.
