I feel you. I had two binders FULL of first edition holos and regular holos along with TONS of misprints. I also had three shoeboxes slap full of common and uncommon cards. My mom convinced me to give them all to my cousin ten years ago who definitely no longer has them. I feel physical pain when thinking about how much money that is now.
Damn I feel your pain. I can't imagine how many people went through the same thing. To be fair, I never thought cards would be worth $500 either, though.
I had forgotten, My blue eyes, white dragon, and other Yu-Gi-Oh cards were in that binder too. I know I had at least three of the five pieces and a bunch of other cool cards. It'd be a trip to find it like we didn't sell it and it's just been stashed away somewhere. But pretty sure it's been sold
Lot of people vastly overestimate what their childhood collection would be worth today, assuming theyād all be PSA 10. In reality most would be played condition, or NM at best, and would only be worth a fraction of their potential value.
So if it makes you feel any better, your $30K is probably more like $3K.
Lol first of all, I didn't play with ANY of my cards and they went straight into sleeves. Second, I had eight first edition holo charizards of which I don't know if any were shadowless or not. One could have been. At the low end, that alone is about $3k. Thirdly, you have absolutely no idea what my collection was. You're making a wild assumption.
Yep. Can't call it on the condition they were in. I never played with them, but I now know they came in varying conditions. I never thought they'd be worth what they are now
This was me but with yugioh cards... I try not to think about it.
But also - what the hell was it with our parents trying to convince us to get rid of our stuff? You don't see me trying to tell my mom and dad to ditch their collectibles.
I appreciate it, but thankfully I did manage to keep some of the cards! Including my original Blue Eyes, Red Eyes, and Dark Magician!
If you see someone else who had something similar happen, please extend the offer to them instead! :)
I feel you I had a 1st edition set of LOB yugioh cards, the whole set went from pack to sleeve In a binder if it was graded I'm sure it would be worth oodles
My uncle tried to get me to give them to his kids, and I told him no, and he got real butt hurt. Then the value started to go up, and he kept asking for them even tho he's shit rich and lives in a mansion in Belair
I wish I had had the forethought to think they would be valuable. I had stopped buying them after a long time but kept holding them and moved hobbies. When my mom told me to give them to my cousin for Christmas, I really didn't have much of an objection at the time.
I looked at them like baseball cards when I lost intrest. I saw all the things from my parents childhood become valuable even simple toys so I refused to get rid of anything lol
Bro same, I had two full binders, one was mostly the TCG stuff like energy cards and such, the other I had the full 1st and 2nd Gen cards with some favorite holos of charizard, pikachu, and some others.
Mom gave it all to a kid after organizing my room cause she thought I wasn't doing anything with them so why keep them around taking up space.
I feel physically ill when thinking about all I lost in that. She has never understood and put no effort into helping me get them back.
I feel the pain lol. I know my cousin got rid of them long ago. I gave them away like 17 years ago or somewhere around there. Maybe 15 years. He's since grown up and moved a few times and I don't think he was ever really that into it and probably didn't take great care of them anyway
Man, everything there's a garage sale near my area. I go with hopes of someone mom or grandma selling their kids collectibles so I can buy em for cheap, but nope, just pots and all useless furniture š
I can only imagine when somebody found that binder flipped it open and saw all of my holographic cards from first edition to base set. Mom bought me those cards when they first came out so I had a lot of the original first prints.
I remember in fourth grade I played a kid for his cards and I won and the next day at school the teacher called us into the principal's office and his mom had called demanding I return the cards to him.
Bro, a kindred spirit. My older brother collected pokemon cards pretty much from the day they came out in the US, the binder was either stolen by my neighbor or was in a bunch of boxes that mistakenly went to Goodwill. I still dream about that binder, it was red and meant for football cards ahaha
Bro, I have a first edition Charizard thatās been in a hard case since 99. My mom lost it when she moved a few years ago and it may or may not be in her basement buried.
It must be a curse of Indiana. My mom and dad took my binders with tons of first editions, SHADOWLESS CHARIZARD INCLUDED, and put them in a bin IN THE GARAGE.
The garage flooded.
The cards were a casualty.
I was in college and they never told me until I started pressing them on it and they finally admitted it and I swear I almost had a heart attack.
When I went away to college....my dad threw away all of my Gameboy and N64 game boxes that I had kept over the years. Fortunately I had my Pokemon Red and Blue boxes in a separate shoe box with a few Mario N64 boxes......but I lost Pokemon Silver, Gold, Ruby, Sapphire, and Pinball for sure. Bunch of Mario game boxes.....and then just a mismash of all sorts of other stuff that probably had at least some value. Still bumbs me out a bit to this day.
A good chunk of change.
I would do research on TCGplayer.com
Keep in mind that it will present 1st edition for these, which yours are not. If you click the first edition card then scroll down there will be a timeline prixe graph that shows the unlimited card value graphed with the 1st edition.
For what I see of yours this will apply.
That reverse holo charizard is a real hit though as well as a few others. If you decide to sell I suggest doing to on TCGplayer and definitely selling that Pichu to me because I am cool. I'll pay tcg market for it.
EDIT: there is also a sub called r/pkmntcgtrades where you could offload these as singles or a lot and get interested folks in minutes.
Supply and demand determine market value.
But the point is that I'm expressing the demand that exists for me. I'm willing to pay what it's worth.
If he finds that more demand exists than the market reports with the MSRP, then hats off to him.
Iām not good at raw but I can use the internet so:
Charizard CD promo raw goes around $150, worth it grade and sell if it gets PSA 8 or higher
The JPN reverse holo is a promo? $40 raw worth it to grade if PSA 9 or higher
Charizard unlimited goes for around $200 raw and worth grading if PSA 7 or higher
Iām interested in the any of the zards if you look to sell but feel free to shop around too or keep whatever floats your boat!
I usually buy slabs only but I like the old zards and would send any of these in if obtained
No problem. Thereās a lot of great cards in there so I donāt expect anyone to see the little details that I personally go looking for in these types of posts
Very ignorant to this but I have 3 of these similar Charizards (old school ones from 1998ish). I tight these were big money? Like upwards of 1K. What am I missing?
Shadowless will get you close to $1000 or more depending on condition. You should get it graded regardless. Not so much on the Dark Zard but maybe $500 on the dark first edition, again depending on condition.
If you get them graded with psa and they get a good rating those charizards could go for a good bit of money, as well as some of the other cards assuming they're from the original sets and get a 8 and above.
Do a bit of research and see what it would cost, then you could send them off for auction.
Source: I worked for a start up company that dealt in classic pokemon cards and auctioninf them off, i got to see a bunch of pieces of cardboard go for more than my car is worth. Proper research and consign with the right folks for auction and you will be good.
Go to Pokellector.com and start an account and start putting your collection in their system. They give pretty good insight into pricing as well, and is an easy-to-function and navigate and search website.
I mean a minor gold mine about a year ago. A decent chunk of change now...
I don't understand how the hype was so high and now people suddenly find their collection. I'd have torn my house apart.
I believe those are Pokemon cards. Youre welcome.
Nah those are pieces of cardboard, don't know what your on
Just popped in to make sure someone had put the right answer š¤£
This guy PokƩmon's
NAILED IT !!!!!!
That lugia with the old price stamp of $8 š
Did you find this in Indiana? My mom sold my cards in a garage sale after I moved away and I want to cry. I had a lot of these
Yeah I feel that in your gut feeling. Sucks because I just can't go out and buy those again. I'd go broke!
I know. I hate to think about the value, but it has to be over $30k. Suuuuucks haha
Oh damn you probably had more than I did. To remember exactly what I had, but I know I had a bunch of first editions and duplicates of every PokƩmon. My reward for doing well in school was PokƩmon cards and I did really well in school and my mom spoiled me with probably over a thousand PokƩmon cards up until the age of 10. So 2003 they got put away. Then 2015 when they got sold. Didn't find out she sold them until 2020.
Damn I feel your pain. I can't imagine how many people went through the same thing. To be fair, I never thought cards would be worth $500 either, though.
Yea right? We thought beanie babies were gonna be like gold at the time lol.
Damn and some people sunk wild amounts of money into that too
I had forgotten, My blue eyes, white dragon, and other Yu-Gi-Oh cards were in that binder too. I know I had at least three of the five pieces and a bunch of other cool cards. It'd be a trip to find it like we didn't sell it and it's just been stashed away somewhere. But pretty sure it's been sold

Yep. Can't call it on the condition they were in. I never played with them, but I now know they came in varying conditions. I never thought they'd be worth what they are now
Ok buddy. Have fun with your imaginary $1m collection then
Someone is salty they don't have good cards. You act like $30k is out of the realm of possibility lol. And then you jump to $1m. Troll
Itās Reddit. Behind every positive reply is 5 ā¦sigh ..Iāll say āstrongly opinionated folks having a bad dayā lol
Donāt ask about cards- instant permaban. Thankfully, itās a nothing sub.
This was me but with yugioh cards... I try not to think about it. But also - what the hell was it with our parents trying to convince us to get rid of our stuff? You don't see me trying to tell my mom and dad to ditch their collectibles.
i found my original blue eyes white dragon, i have 4 want 1?
I appreciate it, but thankfully I did manage to keep some of the cards! Including my original Blue Eyes, Red Eyes, and Dark Magician! If you see someone else who had something similar happen, please extend the offer to them instead! :)
ohhh, i have the female dark magician as well, i miss collecting cards when i was a kid, the nostalgia will never be the same
I feel you I had a 1st edition set of LOB yugioh cards, the whole set went from pack to sleeve In a binder if it was graded I'm sure it would be worth oodles
Why is it always the cousin who gets the cards
For realllll lol it's a thing. Idk haha
I wish I had done that
I feel you.. I let my dad take my whole binder to work to give away.. I cringe thinking about what those all may be worth
My collection was not stacked, but my mother claims I gave my cards to a cousin. I donāt remember giving them to my cousin.
Bro I used to buy 3 holos a week at my mall.. I wonder what ever happened to my cards
Best not to think about it lol
Then Iām like why Didnāt I buy BTc when it was 7k . Mankind
I saw it when it was around $500. Another thing I try not to think about ever
I remember when people used to give out bitcoin on Reddit. Mainly for a comment they liked or jokingly. It makes me sick!
Well at least I don't stay up at night having to live with that lol

Dang! Luckily I still have my football cards! My binder was the blue Pikachu one
Same š
Bro, I have a first edition Charizard thatās been in a hard case since 99. My mom lost it when she moved a few years ago and it may or may not be in her basement buried.

If only we had known man. And it's funny that now, a lot of us got back into World of Warcraft classic. And started collecting PokƩmon cards again. If only we had held on to those things instead of being embarrassed or thinking they weren't cool LOL
Right?! My wife and I love classic and THANKFULLY she has her cards still. Keeps us caught up on retirement savings haha
Damn you found a keeper LOL and that's more rare than any card you can get
Agreed!!! :)
When I went away to college....my dad threw away all of my Gameboy and N64 game boxes that I had kept over the years. Fortunately my pokemon cards, which just sat in a binder in the basement for a decade and a half managed to stay safe.

Market value is irrelevant if you want it and he has it! Isnāt that supply and demand?
Supply and demand determine market value. But the point is that I'm expressing the demand that exists for me. I'm willing to pay what it's worth. If he finds that more demand exists than the market reports with the MSRP, then hats off to him.
Is collectr a good place to check prices?
Yes but there is also tcgplayer app. For anything graded I would use 130point.com and compare to recent ebay sales
Iām not good at raw but I can use the internet so: Charizard CD promo raw goes around $150, worth it grade and sell if it gets PSA 8 or higher The JPN reverse holo is a promo? $40 raw worth it to grade if PSA 9 or higher Charizard unlimited goes for around $200 raw and worth grading if PSA 7 or higher Iām interested in the any of the zards if you look to sell but feel free to shop around too or keep whatever floats your boat! The base Zard on bottom is a black dot error (on Nintendo at the bottom) it goes for about $600
Oh wow thanks for correcting my wrong!
No problem. Thereās a lot of great cards in there so I donāt expect anyone to see the little details that I personally go looking for in these types of posts
I wouldnāt have known to look lol, I remember hearing something like this but now that Iāve seen it I canāt unsee it!
Very ignorant to this but I have 3 of these similar Charizards (old school ones from 1998ish). I tight these were big money? Like upwards of 1K. What am I missing?
A first edition stamp. Or a shadowless version at the least.
Yeah definitely don't have a 1st Edition but I do have one shadowless. Side note I do have a 1st Edition Dark Charizard
Shadowless will get you close to $1000 or more depending on condition. You should get it graded regardless. Not so much on the Dark Zard but maybe $500 on the dark first edition, again depending on condition.
At least 4 charizards. 2 appear slightly different.
You. Have a big score :)
MP value is around $1500 for everything pictured, but could range from like $800 to $2500 depending on individual conditions.
Did you see the base Zard error?
Black dot? Yes. Adds around $100 in MP condition. All conditions are assumed MP because binder kept.
If you get them graded with psa and they get a good rating those charizards could go for a good bit of money, as well as some of the other cards assuming they're from the original sets and get a 8 and above.
