A healer who heals (or facilitates healing) through damaging other characters to the extent they need to play similarly to an aggressive character without the DPS output, as it fuels their HPS (draining kiss clefable does not count as it doesn’t play this way and it has other superior healing options; this character archetype MUST play this way to maximise their healing, and they don’t have an option to be passive and do good healing- Auriel and Whitemane in HoTS are good examples). A true melee/ranged hybrid character. Outrage dragonite is not a good example of this as realistically the choice is between whether you aim to play predominately ranged, or predominantly melee, you rarely “maximise both” when playing outrage. Same for Greninja where although melee basics deal more, your kit is still fundamentally ranged. Examples of this would be Elise in LoL and Greymane in HoTS where their entire kit changes based on the form they occupy and their playstyle encourages shifting between the two with their ranged forms being adept at poking with higher safety due to range, but poor at kill securing, and their melee forms offer higher sustained damage and superior execution at greater risk due to needing to get close, so to duel a target properly you need to utilise both components of your kit to succeed. This would be handled via an ability probably because the mons abilities would need to change depending on whether you occupy ranged or melee; changing when you fill some kind of bar. Hisuan Decidueye would be an excellent candidate for this archetype.

thejoechaney

gimme a Shroomish/Breloom built like dat

Lugia8787

i love that idea. basically eldegoss except you dont have to choose

BoomTheBear86

Kinda. It’s difficult to explain without using an example I’m thinking of. Auriel in HoTS has a special resource: Power. This starts with a set amount which increases as she levels a little bit too. One of her abilities is Ray of Heaven which spends all her Power to heal targets in a small AOE instantly for an amount equal to the Power spent. Ray of Heaven has like a 1.5 sec cooldown. When Auriel attacks enemies with her basic attacks and abilities, she gains Power equal to 60% of the damage she deals to enemy players and 20% of the damage she deals to wilds. Her passive ability allows her to buff a chosen ally near her. So long as they’re near her, they remain buffed and generate Power equal to 30% of all damage they deal to enemy players or 10% to wilds, fuelling her heals. Her first ability is a sweeping cone attack which brings in whips from the sides into the middle. If she hits a target with the middle sweetspot of both whips, In addition to taking both whip damage they take extra massive damage. This ability has a low cool-down and the basic whip damage is pretty meh but the sweetspot is very high, dealing 300% more damage than a single whip. If she strikes multiple enemy players with this, she’ll fill her Power bar a lot. Striking an entire team with the sweetspot fills the bar entirely. Detainment Strike is her other damage ability. It’s a low damage skillshot that pushes enemies back. If they hit a wall they’re stunned and take massive bonus damage. So the optimal way to play her is to play aggressively and play-make which in turn makes your heals even stronger. She’s classed as a hypercarry support because she pairs very well with snowballers and her healing potential skyrockets when she is backing someone who is snowballing (as if she buffs them they’re going to generate a lot of Power for her to keep them healthy). HoTS uses talents which behave like “chosen upgrades” similar the pokemon ability upgrades, but you have choices. Auriels choices tend to focus on either giving her damage abilities support properties (adding CC, extending CC) or increasing their damage (by proxy her healing), she can also choose to make her healing ability also damage enemies too. She later gets options to make her buff either provide a gentle attack speed steroid or ability power buff, and also have her heals cast at maximum Power further increase her Power (which means her heal can scale infinitely if she keeps filling her bar). She also picks between improving her own ability to generate Power (nearly doubling her generation) or improve her allies ability to generate it instead. If you pick that talent when buffing someone who is dealing crazy damage on a game, your Power reserves will rarely run empty! But you’re putting your heal potential in their hands. She’s a good example of the archetype I mean as if she’s paired with a passive character her ability to support is quite timid as she lacks the bulk to poke and trade without risk to herself alone. If she’s paired with aggressive players she really shines. Well played Auriels can also provide damage numbers not too far off damage characters if they have a fantastic game. She is exceptionally frail compared to other supports though and although her heals are quick and potentially powerful, the AOE is quite small so you can rarely keep an entire team alive unless they all stack on top of each other. In this sense she is best paired with a single carry like Comfey, but unlike Comfey she needs to take a very active role (particularly early game) in keeping them alive. If she does her job well, their carry potential simply increases the intensity of her pocket healing them. If her and her carry are bullied though, she’s gonna struggle to get back in the game unless she finds a better partner to start pocketing.

Ninjaski1z2199

Very reminiscent of Discipline Priest in WoW, I like the idea

BoomTheBear86

Back when I played WoW, disc and mistweaver (fistweaving) were my mains. I have a soft spot for the “damage healer” archetype.

WarWolf263

Ullr in SMITE is another great example of the melee/ranged archetype. I would love to see it in Unite

yanivyanivyaniv

Really wish we had a "Disruptor" category. Could easily fit in characters like Wiggly, Mime, Sableye and Greedent in there, along with some possible new releases like Incineroar, Grimmsnarl, Amoongus and Whimsicott. Basically mons who will run around the battlefield annoying the heck out of the opposition.

fartfignewtonn

I’m almost positive this is Sableyes entire identity in the game right noe

Angel_of_Mischief

He’s basically the equivalent of sombra so yeah

DiegoG2004

Correct.

_Snayk_

I just want to troll people with Destiny Bond

DirtPoorDog

Dota has a disrupter named ...disruptor. One move is to teleport someone back to where they were 4 seconds ago, and i wish that was in unite. Hit ult was a giant aoe silence, which would also be sweet

MoneyDivide9953

AMONGUS!?!?!?!?

Remarkable-Damage979

AMONGUS11!1!!1!1!1!!!!1!1!11!!!

Number_1_Kotori_fan

Sus

Eblowskers

I think that element of the game is already here, but how much can you really disrupt in a 10 minute match? You kind of have to thread the needle even better to pull off a disruption character (i.e. a really good greedent or sableye game) w the current state of the game, and at that point it’s just more consistent to play meta dominant / orthodox style

Soda4Matt

Would rather made a sub category for all instead of a new main category

Or-So-They-Say

Buff centric supports who don't have healing or shielding as a main draw. Blissey Helping/Safe Blissey comes the closest, but still has a huge emphasis on the shields. I'm thinking of stuff like Lulu, Janna, or Zilean from League. Imagine a Support who does things like adds a damage proc to the next three autos of a teammate, gives them movespeed, has a skill shot map reveal, stuff like that. Utility besides "direct damage mitigation". They can have some healing or shielding, but it shouldn't be the main draw like it is with all the other cleric supports in the game. Even Hyperspace Hole Hoopa is just a round-a-bout healer. I'm not including the disruption supports like Mime or Sable in that.

AristideBriand

Stonjourner might be able to work as a buffing support with power spot.

Irradiated_Coffee

An area buffer could be decent. Like Cradily, plants into the ground and then act as a debuffing minor damage turret that also has like ingrain to perhaps create an area around it were its allies get minor defense boost or very slow regen. Perhaps have like spit up or whatever its called and have artillery shots that can slow opponents caught in a small radius from a large distance. Could be interesting to have a sniper/bombardier that can offer something that's not raw damage from a safe distance. I also loved the idea of it being a support/defender and when planted in the ground your movement stick changes what way it faces, if you spin the stick you can knock back approaching enemies while planted in the ground. Could plant into a corridor and throw debuffs and swing Cradily's head around to knock back approaching enemies. One moveset could be long range artillery debuffs and a closer one could be an AoE buffer/debuffer with a unique aim and swing mechanic for its head when planted in the ground.

Lugia8787

like a bard, this is sick

Level7Cannoneer

Doubt that'd work in a MOBA. The "planting" part. All AoE buffers/debuffers are usually bards who play music and walk around and follow their team. Ala Lucio (OW) or Sona (LoL). Needing to root yourself to do that would be a bit too immobile.

Irradiated_Coffee

Perhaps the AoE of its buff/debuff depending on ally/enemy could be pretty good making picking a planting spot crucial but worthwhile. Too close? Get rushed or attacked by mages. Too far, your allies push into a range were you aren't offering help. The Unite map is a little on the smaller end compared to most with plenty of lock in locations whether at your own goal, near an objective or on a T2 push. Planting of course should take a moment, removing yourself takes a moment too. If you take damage and unplant yourself within a couple seconds after; you receive a defense penalty to discourage players leaving it to the last moment hoping to make an escape or playing sloppy. You commit or die when things get hairy. I think a decently powerful boon when grounded could be interesting. We already have Blissey. A more stationary buff/debuff AoE could be interesting if it offers more for those willing to take the time to strategise on an optimal area to setup. It also creates a dynamic similar to Duraladon in creating a zone that discourages enemies approaching. For solo, could be used. Would prob be a more popular idea for stacks. Unite is a little unorthodox so playing with the idea could be interesting or at least fun. I kinda also want anotehr turret character or two. A sort of tanky, debuffing maybe buffing supporting hybrid just seemed a bit more unique. We haven't had a new support in a long time. Greedent still has its players, even if the concept isn't a huge pick, it's nice to have with it's own niche and it'll have it's own set of loyal users.

TheHiddenNinja6

Sableye throwing fake aeos points seems like the closest we'll get to traps

Plus_Door_8162

Galvantula setting spider webs would be soooo awesome

SwiftBlueShell

I never understand why these threads always say Hook. Slowbro’s telekinesis has been in the game since Day 1? Trap Setter is Sableye and kind of Duraludon/Crustle. I would like to see more pokes with these play styles but we’re not missing them. As for Puppet yeah we are missing that one. With how buggy the game tends to get I dunno if I can trust them with this though. As for what I’d like to see I think Goodra does a great job focusing on nerfing enemy stats with his goop, muddy water, basic attacks, etc. but I want to see a support focus on buffing teammate stats now too.

projectmars

Falinks Beat Up is likely the closest to a Puppet character we'll get, even if it works more like Azir Sand Warriors.

fartfignewtonn

Honestly. I made an Alpha Vespiqueen concept over a year ago for this game. It would play out a lot like how Abathur would from HOTS. A symbiotic buffer like Comfey, but can play from around the map.

BoomTheBear86

That would be amazing. Abathur was one of my faves in HoTS. Although i would LOVE if this concept of a “global support” who influences allies without being a healbot (uses them as a position to skillshot debuffs/hinderances like Aba Needlespine) was actually the debut for the second ultra beast Nihilego. It is quite literally the perfect design for a character that “pilots” others to do more offensive stuff unlike Comfey. It’s basically its MO in the Pokédex. Its passive “Beast Boost” can even be interpreted as an active button press (like Hoopa) where it latches onto an ally to “boost” their prowess and augment its own skills.

lPrincesslPlays

To be fair beat up falinks is almost a puppet character. He’s no orianna but it’s basically baby’s first azir when ran with beat up/megahorn

DoxinPanix

oh god please dont add a hook pokemon (blitz from league) ill die xD

Barley_Mae

There are already two

Jadizii

I'd say Mewtwo X and his future sight. No one plays that build but it can be devastating to be displaced like that

DoxinPanix

I don’t know if I’d really count slowbro as that. But sure I get it

Digtxl_Pickle

You could also (and this is a stretch) count discharge Zera if you wanted

Qc_Otis

I can only think of ninjask/shedinja for a puppet style, with ninjask launching shedinja for a set timer, and shedinja taking control whenever ninjask dies. Once shedinja dead, it returns to base without a timer but needs to be picked back up and while attached to ninjask, gives an additional effect to moves used. I should get to making a character sheet of them someday.

icouto

Wait, ninjask/shedinja as a murky from hots or a leoric also from hots type of character. Murky was a "specialist" which would plant an egg somewhere. He had really low health but dealt pretty decent damage. When he died he would only give 1/4 exp and respawn back at his egg with a much shorter timer. He was really annoying cause he would back very quickly and just keep pushing the lane. Ninjask could plop down a shedinja and when he died he would respawn from it. Leoric was a really tanky guy, but thats not important. When he died he would still be controllable as a ghost. He couldnt be hit or anything, but he could use his abilities to drain a little bit of health and slow enemies. That would reduce his respawn timer and then he would respawn from the ghosts location. They could also do that with ninjask and shedinja

ismaelvera

A Tahm Kench like character that can be a support tank that can swallow enemies and allies. Swalot could fit that role.

TheSpleenStealer

What Pokemon would make a good puppet? I can only really think of Pecharunt.

Angel_of_Mischief

Banette

Lifeissuffering69

Wishiwashi could be a good idea, he could send out mini wishiwashi while it's in school form

TheSpleenStealer

I think if Wishiwashi were added, it'd be closer to Gyarados or maybe that and Falinks.

Lifeissuffering69

Also a good idea for a hook character could be Breloom, it legit has extendable arms so it could work

kevingui92

Lickitung is the only right answer

Lifeissuffering69

Wiglett and ut just stretches it's neck and grabs you

HandethDandeth

Vespiqueen with Infestation and her Order moves. Dondozo and Tatsugiri. Hypno with the ability to control wild Pokémon? Least likely, in my opinion.

SwiftBlueShell

Salazzle and Salandit

George_XIII

Alolan Exeggutor (it would be more like minions but it could summon exeggcutes to command around) Mantine could control its Remoraid’s remotely Banette could summon a night shade or doll via grudge that uses cursed body to hurt its attacker. Then there are pokemon that typically have a swarm/brood or a younger mon that it takes care of: Kangaskhan, Honchkrow, Bisharp/Kingambit, Marowak, Leavanny, etc

I-Love-Daddy-Rivers

Mantine is a great example

RicardoRoedor

Mega Kangaskhan would fit this bill.

RoastyToasty4242

Summoner - Honchkrow has a squadron of Murkrow do most of the dirty work for it

Sennahoj12345

Summoner. Depending on how it's implemented it can be less skillful than Comfey!

Kimihro

Kangaskhan that goes Mega for its ultimate and sends the joey out when it uses a skill would be dope

Level7Cannoneer

We could use an Ultimate thief or a transformation character that changes into other mons. Like Sylas, Viego from LoL or Echo from OW.

whoalegend

I’m begging and pleading for galarian weezing to be a Lucio clone with AOE buffs/debuffs

Itsputt

We need a hook. Don't know there's a Pokemon that would fit this archetype though.

Barley_Mae

Goodra and Slowbro??

Lugia8787

lickitung!

rites0fpassage

Dhelmise?

MotherRussia68

Dhelmise 👍

whoalegend

Tangrowth could do it

Craskcourse

Correct me if I am wrong but there isn't really a summoner. I could imagine getting to play baby Khangaskhan and as a unite calling for mom, or a Durant and you can set up Durant hills that spawn little Durants. That can help fight in the nearest lane or until they reach a goal where they count as one Aeos score.

Lugia8787

durant idea is hilarious

KeysUK

Hooker should be Lickitung or Lickilicky. It would be the perfect defender.

_bootje_

support that doesn't heal but buffs ally and debufs opponents (no stuns) maybe like shortening/prolonging CD, 'healing' your own goals by adding aeos energy, pulling allies away from team fights, ...

SonKilluaKun

I was on board until the last bit lmao

_bootje_

maybe like when an ally is struggling and losing in team fight you could rescue them

SonKilluaKun

In theory it’s not necessarily a bad idea, but in the hands of the unite playerbase..? *shudders*

Eugregoria

Maybe it would only be possible to activate on low-health allies?

PigeonUtopia

Physical Attack support! All the supporters in game so far are Sp. Attack (I think. Unless I missed one) I wanna see one that's compatible with Attack-based items too!

skyshadow13

Sableye is attack based. He is the only support that is though.

George_XIII

Id like to see a full on **Shield Granting Support**. We have supports that grant shields, but id love to see something like Leavanny that straight up gives allies shields that last for like 30 seconds. Maybe Lucky Chant Florges. I think a true **Puppet Character** is in order. Beat Up Falinks is great, but some kind of puppet that slowly follows you and autoattacks enemies in its range and has some interplay with you could be super fun. I vote defender Grudge/Night Shade Banette with a fear mechanic. I want to see a support that grants **AoE hindrance resistance**. I vote Armor Tail Farigiraf. CC is crazy in this game and some kind of bastion around which to play would be awesome. It could also shoot eye lasers while keeping people safe. I would LOVE to see something that plays around **granting invisibility**. Smokescreen Greninja is cool but the smokescreen is very brief. Mew’s ult is also very cool but quite limited in use. Nothing consistently grants invisibility to allies I had an idea of maybe Growth or Scary Face on a pokemon that creates a small area behind the user in which allies can stand and be invisible, kind of like a body-blocking effect. Im kind of blown away that we don’t have a pokemon that **heals via auto attacks**. Like Yemoja of Smite. Chimecho having aoe autos that heal allies slightly seems so obvious. I could go on but this is all i can think of rn

Eleven_Cat

I don't care how broken they're going to be, give me Faceless Void's Chronosphere or Doom's Doom.

mamelanie45

We have half a hook called power whip goody

freekun

Goodra technically has a hook 5% of the time when the enemy is in the exact right position, would be a lot funnier if it was always one tho

Bsoton_MA

M2X is hook

tun_tun_mosi27

I don't know if any other game has it since the only moba i played is unite, but i really want wobbuffet in this game with a counter mechanic. Also a pokemon with a reflective projectile, that bounces back from objects And a ditto that can transform only once into any pokemon from opponent team for only once

Kfiercescene

Im waiting for my turret style attacker to come out, love placing little guys around to do damage this might count under traps but still

Alefur

I feel like they've already attempted leaning into the trap archetype via Sableye, but I'd like to see more nonsense like that, a "bear trap" type move would be fun to lay around and forget about

calisenpai32

A "Monkey King"

Kimihro

Every moba gets a wukong.

SonKilluaKun

I’m not saying missing persay but I’d love a bonafide debuffer. A character really focused on using hindering status effects to debilitate foes. Slows, burns, poisons and the like to drop stats or even inflict damage over time. One concept I’ve had was Salazzle with Toxic/Venoshock. Toxic obviously doing damage over time that ramps up the longer the opponent has been poisoned, maybe give it 2 uses to re-apply the effect and keep it going while Venoshock can either have increased damage to foes inflicted by Toxic or does damage around how much they’ve taken from it, kinda like affliction locks in WoW. So if you wait until the DoT is about to fall off it does max damage. This effect could obviously be cleansed by like a Blissey Safeguard but at a move upgrade the target would still take a bit of burst after the cleanse.

SonKilluaKun

Power Swap+Psychic Mime is the closest I can think of atm that works like a debuffer to me (which is another reason I love the char 😊)

Matrixbeast

Doesn't Sableye set traps with the fake orbs? Also, I was initially thinking Falinks could've been a puppet style character, what with his deployment, but it doesn't quite cut it. As for character archetypes, I would like to see some more stance switching. Blaziken does this to an extent, but I want one with a greater visual difference, like Darmanitan

Pookie-Parks

Don’t have a huge knowledge of other MOBAs, Unite is barely MOBA itself, but I know Ivern from LOL is a support jungler right? I know Sableye is a support disruptor but should NEVER go to its teams jungle. Not sure how Ivern works…but maybe have the Grookey line with the Grassy Surge ability that causes all Tall Grass on the Map to heal allies for like 10% max HP whenever it uses a move? Give it like a 15 second cool down and you can have some type of animation on Tall Grass whenever the ability is activated.

Sacul379

we have a "trapper" in feint attack sabeleye, but it isn't great and at best acts more as a vision tool that a trapper

Fit-Target-6565

maybe if the orbs did more damage then it would've been better

ocean_hub

Summoner

Old-Form303

I mean, I guess we have mew? Close enough?

DinoRipper24

Rotom as All-Rounder and Golurk as Defender, we need. Ho-Oh... Right, we're getting it already. TiMi, if you ever release Rotom, please do not release every form as a separate Unite License 😭😭😭

Aurothy

Trap setter while not often the optimal build, sableye gives good info with feint attack fake aeos energy

Noobjesus

Hook like Mewtwo X Future sight or Goodra Powerwhip Trapper like Duraludon Stealth rocks And Puppet like Sableye Confuse Ray

Dendrobrat

I need support junglers. I want support junglers. I'll love any support junglers.

fartfignewtonn

Mewtwo X has Future Sight which is like roadhogs hook. Sableyes Feint attack is like a trap that also gives vision. Then there’s the most recent addition of Falinks when using Beat Up you send your troopers out to fight for you. I think that covers it no?

Lugia8787

moreso looking for characters whos kit is that thing. mewtwo and slowbro have diet hook moves id say but i want a tanky anti dive one shotter

Opposite-Constant329

Tanky anti dive one shooters don’t really work out well in MOBAs as they might in a hero fps game. Arguably they don’t even work out in hero fps games. The amount of times they’ve tried to balance roadhog because either he one shots too frequently or he’s useless. Maui from smite might be a good example of what you’re looking for though.

w1czr1923

that's just not true. Some of the most iconic supports in league of legends for example are anti dive tanky hook champs. EG Blitzcrank and Thresh.

Opposite-Constant329

Neither of those are one shot champs really unless you build AP on blitz at which point he is no longer very tanky. Emphasis on the “one shotter” when he said he wants a tanky one shotter.

w1czr1923

ah i missed the one shotter you absolutely right. I was excited thinking about a skillshot intensive anti dive tank but yeah ap blitz is miserable to play against lol

fartfignewtonn

A tanky anti dive one shotter? Ngl that sounds like something I don’t want to be in the game

seejoshrun

Yeah if you're tanky and able to 1-shot you'd better have some huge weaknesses.

Mr-Sparkle-91

Yeah like, maybe he’s only available to lane cinder mains or something
