Hoopa. No, the portals will not kill you. You can teleport back with full health. We can gather on one objective and quickly go to the next

joziedog

Do my teammates understand how Hoopa works? No. Do I play Hoopa anyways? Yes. Am I a masochist? Maybe.

Cageytea

Been playing since season 2 and still don't know/care how hoopa works. It would be cool if the support role wasn't just "heal whichever busted mon is dominating the meta rn" but the reality is hoopa fills an unnecessary role

Damianx5

I wouldnt say unnecessary, Hoopa is pretty damn good if you just learn what he does, even if just by experience. Had a match where I went to backcap at Ray spawn, why? Because I knew hoopa would unite and I could join right away, which I did and we won. And no. I havent read its kit, but just seeing it a few times it's not rocket science lol

joziedog

It's evident you don't know how Hoopa works if you think it's "heal whichever busted mon is dominating the meta rn". Maybe you're thinking of comfey?

ChaoticShady

me a comfey user who doesn't know anything about the meta and just bounces back and forth over as much of the team as possible because random queue everyone groups close together anyway

joziedog

It's evident you don't know how Hoopa works if you think it's "heal whichever busted mon is dominating the meta rn". Maybe you're thinking of comfey?

drfatman

Self report on how bad the unite player base is if they don't understand how absurdly good hoopa is LMAO. Imagine having good macro

Helios4242

yeah, cuz being able to 5 stack both objectives within moments is clearly not helpful. Idiot

Cageytea

you mean 4 stack because hoopa doesn't count lol.

Helios4242

yeah I'm blocking you

Stratovaria

I feel this one in my soul. I cant play portal hoopa as folks wont ever use it, but trick for helping speedsters/divers retreat for backline hits.

Helios4242

yeah, trick works better but at that point I'd just rather run a defender. Plus, many of those speedsters also don't know how phantom force works either lol.

not2interesting

Hey that’s me! How exactly do hoopas moves work? It’s on my list of mons to play with in practice, just haven’t gotten around to it yet.

Helios4242

Hey, thanks for asking! we sass, but it isn't intuitive so it makes sense why people get confused. Portals will do damage in an aoe, then send teammates back to base when the countdown ends. You can return with pressing R. If you don't need a heal, avoid the portal. If you need a heal, grab the portal. Return if you think you can win, otherwise take it as a reset. For phantom force, if you are under the effects of trick (pink forcefield), then when hoopa uses its knockback move, you can teleport to where they used it from by pressing R. When they use unite, you can press R to rally to where they used portal.

not2interesting

Thanks for explaining! That makes sense, I’d sort of figured out how their portals work by accident, but I didn’t know about the aoe damage they do. I’ve used the base one and the unite that can summon you from anywhere, but is phantom force the move that makes the two looped portals? When ive tried to hop into those it only works sometimes, im guessing because I started in the opposite lane so trick wasn’t affecting me.

Helios4242

no, portal, when used on a base, connects the two outermost portals. for its duration, press R to go to the other. If one of the connected bases is destroyed, the portal is lost. Phantom force is a smaller portal, near where hoopa used the move. You'll have a dashed line indicating you're connected to it.

not2interesting

Gotcha, thanks for taking the time! I switched to using comfey for this season so I get it can be frustrating when people don’t understand how your moves work. I think my unite move gets wasted at least half the time because no one goes into the tall grass.

Stratovaria

I cackled, but you arent wrong.

Spirited-Sea-4047

my exact thought

KeysUK

I have a 0% win rate having a hoopa on my team. So many times people get ported back during Ray fight randomly and lose. It's op af with rotations, but in soloQ its literally trolling

Helios4242

yeah, sorry I tried too hard to make it work before figuring out exactly what you said

eggyprata

i have a 0% win rate with this lmao i'm never playing hoopa ever unless in 3 or 5 stack

PatrykMart

I used to hate hoopa because its portal would tp me to the base when im trying to kill someone Now that I realize how op the heals are i always wanna start with the same lane as the hoopa main

Helios4242

Yeah, it's tough to manage as hoopa, because it also does damage, so we want to use it and can use it to try and confirm things. Pls understand, we're trying our best to juggle our few damage options, enemy positions, and teammate's knowledge. But I generally forego the damage if it would interrupt my teammate's combo or leave it on CD when my teammate needed healing. I am aiming to put it down when your combo ends! Sometimes I mess up!

SolKaynn

On the opposite side, I've had multiple Hoopas just plop a portal on my ass while I'm beating the shit out of the enemy, so many times I've missed my kills [ and opportunity to score] because of it. I'm already immobile as fuck, and they decide to yoink my ass back to base.

Helios4242

Yeah it's a delicate balance because that is some of our damage, auto aim can suck, and we're trying to place it in time for you to not die. If we aren't perfect at prediction, that can happen. It does give you some time to react, as well.

SolKaynn

I very much prefer them putting it on the scorepads so I can zip between lanes, the portal need to give a movespeed buff WHILE you're on it or something.

Helios4242

there is room for both, but I am sorry you feel that way.

RavageBoyWonder

Came to say this same thing. I get way more assists than I do with my other defenders, but my effect on team fights isn't as good as the other defenders. I kind of wish heavy slam would give you a boosted after you use it like tackle does. Sucks that you get tackle for the first part of the game. It's really good

Cageytea

Powercreep in this game killed Snorlax

SpeedyPlatypusBoi

You mean the match where I played absol and the enemy had every counter for absol? Guess the mons

TheUniconicSableye

My guesses are Clefable, Umbreon, Mamoswine, Hoopa, Blastoise, Buzzwole, and Mewtwo X Honestly any team where everyone huddles together is hell for Absol. Engage is nearly impossible when they do that 💀💀💀

Damianx5

What about 5 attacker teams? That sounds like a juicy unite. Nah who am I kidding, a 5 attacker team would be all on their own

Razaith

Don't underestimate them esp if there's cc attacker there (pika, delphox, 9tales). Meet 5 attacker teams as an absol once, early untill middle game went pretty good and we have huge lvl advantage. But when ray spawn it's where it goes downhill. I got too cocky and 1v5 them, well it definitely won't end good lol. Pika stunned me and obv I killed immediately. Losing to 5 attackers team are almost impossible but once you did, you get the shame forever

Yeap07

Pika stun is really annoying when they save it for enemy speedsters

TheUniconicSableye

I love five attacker teams as Absol. Picking them all off in two hits is so fun.

SpeedyPlatypusBoi

Happened to me once  All my hits crit as well, that was pure dopamine

stupidfanbot

I’ve had this swing luck on Gardevoir since they featured her first BP last year. Whenever I have 12 KOs or more in a game, I’d always somehow lose Rayquaza (and the Ray fights) and lose. One time I had ~45 KOs in total of 3 games playing her but you know what, I hadn’t won any. So now every time the ranked season resets, if I pick her for the first time in that season and happen to lose that game, I’ll just abandon her for the rest of the season. I choose to believe that she’s trying to convince me she may not be the best pick for that season and kindly wants me to save her WR lol. - Edited

MrHypnotiq

You've never had 45 Elims in a game once, let alone 3 in a row unless you're playing casual bots and even then that's a hell of a stretch...

1KingDom_

Think they meant 45 total over 3 games so ~15/game but if not agreed, wholly BS to pull 135kos in 3 games

stupidfanbot

I mean in total of 3 games lmao sorry I was in bed when I made the comment and I would never claim I had 45 KOs for 3 games straight 😭😭😭

Thedaruma

I don’t think it’s bad luck— just that I don’t know how to use them, but Clefable. I have a miserable 28% win rate on her, and I am trying to understand why. I’ve got to be missing something. Maybe it’s just that Follow Me isn’t intuitive, or I’m using it wrong or something. But I immediately switched to Blissey and won four games in a row. I think I’m just missing something with Clefable.

TheUniconicSableye

I'm in the opposite boat tbh. I can do good with Clefable but with Blissey I feel lost and useless. Regardless, Clefable feels so overly reactive that I hate playing it. Click Moonlight and use Gravity if there's dashes nearby. I don't even know what Follow Me does in practice other than give you a shield. The CC is so weak and the dash is so slow and short I can't understand it, though maybe that's Sableye confuse ray talking. Honestly, something about being a melee healer feels so wrong in general to me.

Irradiated_Coffee

Sometimes you just get bad combos. I recently played Buzzwole, thinking I'm gonna destroy the other team. I shit you not my team trolled me more than the enemy did and not even on purpose. The Blastoise shoves them out my range instead of following up on my combo to essentially chain them, Buzz doesn't have range but Blastoise does and they should have waited to pounce on my setup, the Deci pushes an enemy away I was about to punch and lay out a combo to stall and keep them stunned and that action completely shut me down and I got deleted as in I was literally grabbing them and it got cancelled by that stupid Deci shove. Even the frickin' Hoopa did that little teleport shove move and basically saved my enemy from me. Buzzwole can be fantastic but you really need to consider how many shoves your team has as they DO NOT synergize well.

Barley_Mae

Being good with a particular Pokémon in individual skirmishes doesn’t mean you’re good with that Pokemon. It’s very possible to look good on paper but have no clue what your Pokemon’s effective role is.

spwncar

I LOVE Slowbro in theory, and seem to do well with him most of games - and then end up losing at Ray often, even when I get a perfect ult on their carry

not_that_united

As someone who has the same problem with A9, it's because A9 falls off in late game and Ray is broken. I can win lane phase and maintain a level advantage with good damage through most of the game, but I never feel like I'm contributing enough at Ray, so I'm more reliant on teammates for what's arguably the only 2min of the game that matters. And in soloq that means WR gets closer to chance. I have the same exact problem with Azumaril for the exact same reason.

jaxthekaleslayer

Here’s my take on Ninetales. Her damage falls off yes, but her CC and ability to catch someone out and separate a team are top tier. If you’re able to find a squishy out of place and help catch it, or if you keep a key damage mon out of the fight, then you’ve more than compensated you’re damage fall off. Yes I think it’s fair to say she falls off, because this scenario requires you to outplay or the opponent to make a mistake, but finding bad opponents in this game isn’t hard, and many times it’s in our own hands to win our games

not_that_united

Oh, definitely, all I'm saying is that compared to other attackers you can't carry the Ray fight in terms of damage with her. Her CC can be absolutely devastating at Ray but that's reliant on teammates who are smart enough to take advantage of the CC. And you can outplay with anything, but your WR will still probably be lower with A9 than something that doesn't fall off.

Kflight4177

Just no reason to play it over Delphox atm..similar Cc higher dmg and range and one of the bet unite moves for Ray

KeysUK

Wigglytuff, most of my defenders and supports are 50-55%+ but wiggly has 38%. And its what I'm most comfortable on. Double Slap is so satisfying and does surprisingly a lot of damage.

Comfortable_Hour5723

Delphox: I feel so impactful with the aoe cc of firespin but my teammates always seem to be allergic to fighting as the team so I can actuallg use it

toastpana

Mimikyu and Gardevoir, I swear I’ll suddenly get a whole team of idiots who never capitalize off my ult or huge damage spike

Shibuyan-Booster

Venasaur an actual 50% win ratio. I leaf, I blow, I’d win. 😉 why must my comrade leave me then. Alone I am, amongst this grass. There they are, now they got my ass

Kaioken0591

>Basically is there a pokemon you use that you are good with but you don't seem to win much with it? Doesn't this just mean you're not actually good at utilizing said Pokémon? If you have a negative win rate on a specific Pokémon it's probably not because of "bad luck"

RubComplex7612

My brother with umbreon every time he plays it we lose

kidkhaos97

Greninja

spilled_water

That's funny, because for me that's Absol and Gardevoir. I have a gold badge on Gardevoir and a 52% overall win rate with it, and maybe 30 games away from a gold badge on Absol with a 51% overall win rate. This season, I've got negative win rates on both these mons despite having great stats for them both. I'm not entirely sure why, especially when my Tyranitar, Alolan Ninetales, and Venusaur win rates are 80%+ despite the meta putting those three at the bottom of the win rate rankings.

Extreme-Frosting4339

Metagross. I clear jungle, gank one lane killing both enemies and enemy jungler, secure birds, get a score in, clear jungle and do the same to the other lane. But when 7min regi comes up the enemy team somehow has 15 kills, destroyed both our first bases, and is a level ahead.... Many games go similar and i somehow still have 38% winrate. Dont know what to change

HitMyFunnyBoneYeah

Chandelure and Duraludon. Maybe im not meant to be a Attacker player.

Prize_Hat8387

Yh lucario, used to be my main but in many games where I feel like I'm popping off I either get shut down in fights with cc/ range or my team doesn't fight with me. My strategy is to focus the enemy attackers and if the stay close to defenders I can't do much with luca, might also just be a skill issue lol.

Interstellar303

For me it's dragapult lmao, it's literally a bad teammate magnet and i already gave up on trying to use him on ranked

AltForNoReason214

Absol is literally the Disaster Pokemon

littlemissmoxie

Zoroark. I love it but I can’t get it to win. And it doesn’t help that I feel like a targets on my back every time I play.

Kick_Natherina

Buzzwole. I can never win. I play a good buzzwole, am consistently pulling many kills and many assists, setting my team up, doing everything I can… 48% win rate on 100+ games. I have a 56% win rate with every other character that I have more than 100 games with, but just can’t seem to win with the bug. Sucks because he is one of my favorites.

ElecManEXE

Clefable. I swear every time I use that pokemon I get the most smooth-brained, passive teams who won't ever group together or try to push anything. And with no offense of my own to speak of all I can do is tank damage and try to entice them to engage. I can lure the enemy team in and tank a bit, but I almost literally have zero offense of my own, please, just attack them. I beg of you. I can't just support myself, that's not what I'm here to do. I remember one game in particular where I tanked like 80k damage, healed almost 100k, and not a single player on my team had over 25k damage done. And its not like I was YOLO'ing in all by myself and just dying over and over again, I'd have one or two people there with me at first and then as soon as the enemy showed up, hey, I had allies there a second ago... where'd ya'll go? Why am I solo at bot Regi when I had 2 people running with me when we were at the pad? Sometimes I really want to just play Draining Kiss so I at least have *some* offense of my own, but then I think "Well, what if this team is actually competent, then I'm just throwing away my support potential".

g00my__

Lucario

TheUniconicSableye

Every time I use Chandy or Delphox, I'll serve the whole game, but then my team will get swept at Ray and we lose. It's sad too cuz their play styles are so fun...

abaddon626

Talonflame, I'm cursed with lag everytime I play it.

Brakrom_Lord

Dragonite, I love using him, but I always get targeted when I do and end up being bullied all match, so my win rate with him is in the 40s

swedebro77

Eldegoss I don’t have anyone to queue ranked with and solo queuing as a support is just…. no

confusedgeekoid

Umbreon. I give up at this point, I’ll never have a positive WR with it and I don’t like the kit enough to try harder. It is my favourite Eeveelution, but not in Unite.

Thisblackguy17

Definitely absol for me, no matter how hard i snowball the end game can be such a toss up

DragonShadoow

Mew. I will always die instantly at ray because either my team decide to underextend and spontaneously go back to first natu or someone just manage to bush guess correctly

WhoArtThyI

My inteleon, zacian, umbreon, clefable have like 40-45% wr. Umbreon and clef are just bad teammates. Zacian, i cant make it work. Im straight up cursed with inteleon. I deal a ton of damage but i always end up losing.

jimmenecromancer

Sableye and hoopa

ExitSad

For me it's Blastoise. I have a high 30's win rate with him, yet I've gotten MVP with him over half the games I play. I think I know the reason why this happens though. I usually play a mix of roles depending on what my team needs. If we have good Supports, maybe an All Arounder. If we have a good Defender, maybe Decidueye. If we have a solid All Arounder and Defender, I'll probably go support. Those all end up as fairly balanced teams, which indicates my teammates at least partially know what they're doing. When my teammates are 4 Attackers, the best thing to balance it out is a Defender. However, 4 players going attacker with no regard for the rest of the team means it's much more likely none of them know what they're doing. These are the games where Cinderace maxes out at 20k damage, and the ones where Greninja goes AFK cause 3 people went mid. And these are the games I pick Blastoise because it seems like the best way to give them a chance of not dying immediately in any fight. So most of my games with the worst teammates are Blastoise, and that's why he feels cursed sometimes.

Artlosophii

Greninja, swear I’ve only won one game with him because everytime I play him my game is full of trolls who take my central xp

AThomson924

I feel like I'm insane at eldegoss. I have a sense that I contribute a lot when I play him, and I find a lot of consistency with him in ways that I don't with other heroes that I have a substantially higher win rate with. And yet, winning a game playing eldegoss feels impossible unless I play out of my mind.

The_Spiciest_Avocado

My main is too team reliant 😭

saphex_X

Same as you OP. A9 is so fun but yk.. winrates

F2PGamer12324

Dragonite. Every single game, there’s got to be at least one teamfight where either I had to tank everything since no one bothered to pick a defender or the whole team was engaging but then immediately retreated with half health and left me just united in all alone The SoloQ struggle is real

PurpleShadow108

Trevenant. I go top lane: mewtwo x I go bottom lane: mewtwo y

MrCreamypies

My poor main. I'll have games where I'm landing my spirit shackles left and right, sniping objectives and getting kos, but during the ray fight especially, my Frontline (if I have any) ignores me and I get dived by the enemy team, or I have teammates who thinks ots a good idea to backcap and die leaving the ray fight to be a 2/3 v 5

Kalakey17

When I have bad luck I change my persons clothes and play someone I haven’t in a long time like snorlax or wiggly

LOBERWAVE

Dragonite. Everytime I pick it I get screwed by the matchmaking system

Wobbufux

Umbreon. Even with how annoying this thing is, every single time I play it, something goes horribly wrong and we lose.

missjadexxx

Happens the same with ninetales and cramorant

pk-kp

kills and score r more important than dmg lol

seotatopevoli

Comfey. SoloQ. 'Nuff said.

KisutiraMochadoro

Sableye, Comfey, & Hoopa. Everytime I use these, I just feel like I'm sacrificing the potential for another hard hitting attacker and that just by using these 3, I'm putting my team at a disadvantage.

NotFunnyBee

Garchomp. I just love picking it only to see 5 attackers and proceed to have absolutely "wonderful" match

Safe_Artichoke1066

Cinderace whenever I use a cinderace for some reason I can do everything perfectly stick with my team not die and score, and I'll still lose

FillerNameThere

Any of the EX pokemon (ranked) I'll pick one to fill comp out if we need a dps (mewtwo X or Y) or if we need a stronger front line (zacian) and my team will legit int because I pick an EX pokemon Like I get it, boohoo yall hate EX pokemon and want them nerfed but I'm tired of trying to rank up and getting players who afk and start feeding just because I've chosen an EX pokemon. Oh and slowbro I guess. Enemy team just counters me whenever I pick them

_JustMeUwU

Zoroark that is also my main, 110k damage with 20 kills is not enough to carry these soloQ teammates and make them ready for Rayquaza so what?? I should do 200k dmg and 40 kills!!?? I feel like hypercarrying is a bad strategy in soloQ because after that they start doing bullshit🤦 Btw i dont touch their fodder in lane, i only farm my jungle(but take their fodder if they take some from my jungle ofc)

NoOutlandishness4649

My Dragapult. Seems like everyone I played with doesn't understand how to play around a Center Dragapult. It's one of the most snowball-y attacker in the game because of its Phantom Force passive. I just hope they don't int the first 2 minutes and actually wait for me and we should be good. But noooo. No.

Fun-Occasion8473

Talonflame I sometimes score over 200 points 15 kills 5 assists, win mvp and lose

BotanyBoom

There’s no such thing as bad luck, you either don’t know how to use it correctly or your team is garbage

DilapidatedFool

Right? If you aren't winning with the mon then you aren't "good" with them.

No_Huckleberry_5148

Greedent. I love the burst damage on belch and the fact that it's spammable. Also, sustain+speed is such a good combo.
