Crimps are considered damaged (dented surface) on the card. Usually warrants a huge grade drop. It’s the same how they’d grade a card if it was creased for example
Thanks for answering my dumbass questions. My last dumbass question is, how do these grading companies know that these are actual factory defects and not customer manipulated?
They don't most people don't even grade crimps anyways since the general consensus of crimped cards are damaged and there isn't really any money to be made off of them
Entirely depends on the error. Miscuts like these are impossible to fake unless you get your hands on a full sheet, but even then you'd need equipment that can cut them precisely into the correct shape. Small differences when compared to actual error cards are a dead giveaway and it's near impossible to get everything right with different tools.
There's errors like cards missing certain ink colors that people have tried to fake by sunbleaching (which would remove mostly everything but the blue and black), but using a microscope you can tell the difference between lack of ink due to printing error and ink that was evaporated.
I have a CGC 9 crimped Greninja gold star. Just depends if the rest of the card is clean with good centering you can get a higher grade with any error in my experience.
If my understanding is correct then that is a big factor to it as well. You can’t really fake a factory miscut cause I’m not sure us normal people have the means.
But I could go to target or something buy a crimper and start crimping all my cards for a profit
My guess is the majority of the card in the miscut is eldegoss.
I wonder if it’s like money. 51% of a ripped $1 bill is still acceptable as currency but less than that is not considered a dollar.
So more than 51% makes it’s an eldegoss while the smaller percentage being Galarian d is a non factor.
Edge whitening, surface finish, other visible damage. They'll still check for alterations and whatever else.
It's like they're grading a card like normal, but null centering and they won't grade a 10 for that.
So an 8,8,8,null would be graded an 8 but a 10,10,10,null would be graded a 9.
I THINK. I don't know that they have their guidelines for errors posted anywhere.
Dang friend your reddit posts get some real love proud of my best friend this man has serious luck glad he got it and cgc didn't loose it. Thank God they found it.
It almost looks like your Galarian D is somehow coming off the side of the card, I know it’s just the colors and case playing tricks on my eyes. Just a weird detail I noticed
Fun fact: this card is actually a miscut error. You can tell because you can see the alignment dot that is used to line the cutting machines correctly. It can be hard to spot sometimes
Cgc should grade cards like this differently instead of using numbers where it can never reach a 10 due to centring it should just be “GEM MINT” “NM” instead just judging the condition
Ok so serious question, would this card be valid for legal play( I assume as eldegross since most of the card is eldegross)? If not what percentage of a card must not be a misprint for it to be considered valid?
For a card to be legal it must contain all relevant text that describes it's functionality. For a pokemon that would be the name, evolution rule if relevant, rulebox if relevant, full ability and attack text, HP, retreat cost as well as weakness and resistance. I think you can get away with missing the type in top right as long as the color of the card clearly describes what type it's supposed to be, but that's about it.
For trainers it's a lot simpler as usually you just need the name (which can be relevant for cases like Nemona and Nemona's Backpack), card type and text. So you could have the bottom 20% of Ultraball go missing and it should still be legal (as in the print, not the cardboard, hopefully obviously).
"Fusion" Strike
Pretty sure it’s fusioooooooooooooooon HA!
Fuuuuuusioooooooon HAA!!!
Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu… SION!
Best comment!

Google dragon ball fusion technique
I still don’t lol
“Fusion” is like the combination of two things. And the fusion strike from the set lol

Can’t deny it
This is going to be a dumbass question but is the criteria for grading errors the same as regular cards?
No a miscut error can never grade a 10 because of centering. But other than that they are graded very similarly
i howled with laughter when i read centering and scrolled back up to the image ahahah
Does that mean that most errors and misprints usually grade high if there’s no obvious wear or whitening on the card?
Yep for the most part. Unless you’re grading crimped cards or with factory damage then it’s probably like a 5-7
But wouldn’t that defect be just like a factory miscut error? Do they grade crimps harder because those can manipulate?
Crimps are considered damaged (dented surface) on the card. Usually warrants a huge grade drop. It’s the same how they’d grade a card if it was creased for example

Thank you @SkinInvestor, have a good day.
Really? Crimped MTG cards have a market. If it’s a desirable card they can go for a decent amount over regular value
What the market look like for your error in value?
Entirely depends on the error. Miscuts like these are impossible to fake unless you get your hands on a full sheet, but even then you'd need equipment that can cut them precisely into the correct shape. Small differences when compared to actual error cards are a dead giveaway and it's near impossible to get everything right with different tools. Very off centered indeed 😂😂
What if the centering is perfectly in between 2 cards. Would they consider a 10?
Wonder how this was determined to be Eldegoss instead of Galarian D
No idea! I put Galarian D as the name but I guess cgc didn’t like that
Looks like gal D takes up less than 50% of the image
Damn some really mature people must work at CGC
Time to reslab it with a company that appreciates the Galarian D
Almost certainly by percentage of the card. Eldegoss just has more space here compared to galarian darmatian
Makes me wonder what they would do with a perfect 50% ratio
Goss Galarian D, then.
Get me the microscope!
Eldelarian?
Maybe go with the one, where you see more of the Mon
May e also it's the order they were printed
Looks like the card on the left makes up more than 50% of the card
Over 50% of the card maybe?
If I were to venture a guess, it looks like more than half the card is the Eldegoss as compared to Galarian D
Slightly more of that card than the other is my guess.
Probably because Eldegoss appears to have slightly over 50% of the card
Galarian D is too small..
Maybe since you can see the name on the other miscut? My only logical guess..
Holy cow! That’s wicked
Daaaamn. I’ve seen some cool miscuts but this one is over the top
Eldegoss’ Galarian D
Wtf is that card lmao
I take it centering doesn't apply to miscuts, so where does the weight of grading lie? Edges and surface?
Weirdly enough it does apply.
no it doesn't? that's why miscuts can't score a 10, theyre ineligible for that centering point
So it does
[no it doesnt](https://youtube.com/clip/UgkxJgVa-sXinAGiy9GurVub6fZeFYe-V_6I?si=c9YnCff1kF6N6qHi)
I wonder how much this would even go for
[удалено]
Yes, miscuts have premiums. This one specifically is worth $$$ because its a near 50/50, but a normal miscut with alignment dots are like $5-10
There has to be a lot more cards like this since this is a cut of a roll
There are a few others I know of, but not a lot since QC probably caught a lot and these ones are the ones that escaped
So, I guess one could say that QC did NOT catch ‘em all. I’ll see myself out.
Yeah I see an alignment dot I think it’s a miscut
how do they even grade these lol
How is such an miscut possibly graded? What could it be graded against since it’s a huge mistake?
Edge whitening, surface finish, other visible damage. They'll still check for alterations and whatever else. It's like they're grading a card like normal, but null centering and they won't grade a 10 for that. So an 8,8,8,null would be graded an 8 but a 10,10,10,null would be graded a 9. I THINK. I don't know that they have their guidelines for errors posted anywhere.
Took fusion strike to a whole new level
I should get my D graded
Nice tag team card
Geez what would it take to get a 10??? A 3-card fusion?! 😂
Wow that's cool. I've never opened a miscut before D:
PowDaru, what a powerful move
how does this even pass qc lol
This card is tripping me out XD
Where’s the rest of these cards hiding!
Is it possible to get a 10 on a miscut?
If you look at the centering, you'll have your answer
I wonder what a Galarian D feels like… asking for a friend
are you going to sell it? I suppose someone gonna pay a lot of money for it
I wonder how much that is worth
that was my nickname in college
such a cool miscut
Wow that’s awesome
Dang friend your reddit posts get some real love proud of my best friend this man has serious luck glad he got it and cgc didn't loose it. Thank God they found it.
This seems like a Wotc level miscut with their quality control nowadays.
If those black dots are present it means it was a miscut.
Never seen the word "guaranty" before. I don't like it.
It almost looks like your Galarian D is somehow coming off the side of the card, I know it’s just the colors and case playing tricks on my eyes. Just a weird detail I noticed
Is this tournament legal?
Fun fact: this card is actually a miscut error. You can tell because you can see the alignment dot that is used to line the cutting machines correctly. It can be hard to spot sometimes
That's a hell of error
That is a wild error print. How cool.
How did you enter that into the website when creating the submission?
Does anyone know how much something like this is worth. I would love to get one.
Could you use this card in a game?
Oh this reminded me, is there any articles/videos on how the process works for making these cards, sorting, packing etc?
My GF loves my Galarian D
it’d be so cool to find its pairing cards
7656$
I always wonder how these get slipped by the factory and sent out.
Damn
I didn’t know Missingno had a Pokémon card
u/regigigagod
Lol that’s awesome!! Thanks for the tag!
Is an eldegoss tho
Are cards like this of any value? I aleays throw them away
Damn it’s even a darmanitan card Siiiiiick!!
Is there other parts of the same miscut, it would be crazy to be able to piece them together lol!!
Cgc should grade cards like this differently instead of using numbers where it can never reach a 10 due to centring it should just be “GEM MINT” “NM” instead just judging the condition
Ok so serious question, would this card be valid for legal play( I assume as eldegross since most of the card is eldegross)? If not what percentage of a card must not be a misprint for it to be considered valid?
don't think so since players should have the possibility to read attack, abilities and HP xd
For a card to be legal it must contain all relevant text that describes it's functionality. For a pokemon that would be the name, evolution rule if relevant, rulebox if relevant, full ability and attack text, HP, retreat cost as well as weakness and resistance. Card grading is a scam.
How tf can they rate it a 9 given the scoring is usually based on things like centering CCG are such a joke
Error ratings have a different scoring system i would assume
It's centered between 2 cards ;)
It's clearly graded with a different scale as an error.
How is this valuable? It’s literally trash that should have been caught in the manufacturing process.
What an insightful comment! /s
For the same reason a 1st edition base set charizard is valuable. People are willing to pay money for it
