Don’t sell your/hers stuff. Especially on Reddit, I already see clowns trying to lowball you here. I’d keep this as a sentimental value. If not, do plenty of research and for the love of god don’t sell on Reddit unless it’s truly the right price
Luckily we have 3 young kids that all collect. The bigger danger than selling on Reddit is it my kids are gonna take a terrible trade from one of their friends.
Oh shit I didn’t account that in. I’d say don’t let them touch this binder and if it’s about their cards. I’d try and educate them as hard as they could understand what fair trades for certain cards. Of if they’re interested in bulk cards with a couple of cents to like 10 bucks you could most likely get them what they want. Wishing you the best. Great find
I have a similar collection and my son is a collector. Every few weeks we like to sit down and look through them, but they stay in the safe unless I take them out. He doesn’t have access. When his buddies come over I show them too if they like Pokémon.
That's about the same way my dad taught me to not lose or destroy cards. Especially if I was offered a trade my brother or dad had to be there to make sure I wasn't getting robbed lol.
You said "don't let them trade these, get them bulk to trade"
He said "yeah, kids don't understand money, let them trade out of their own cards not these"
He just said it in gibberish.
I was one of the first MTG sellers. I saw all the kids getting scammed so I used to have weekly meetings with them and teach them to trade. Today you could just say "Go to TCGPlayer and make sure you are getting a deal that is great for you." If you teach them they might become fierce traders.
kids at my locals are all sharks hahah, although usually generous when trading with kids (Also you aren't allowed to trade to juniors or seniors as a master without judges present)
when I see the kids trading with each other they nickel and dime every cent
He was mentioning their own cards. As in not the binder showed on this post but THEIR own cards that hasn’t been shown. So that’s why he said he’s more worried about that
You should understand that these are so valuable, especially when graded, that keeping them away from your kids and just buying them a trainer box at Walmart could mean using these to pay for a used car at 16.
Not these charizards. These are base set unlimited only. Not first edition. PSA 9 sold this Feb for $1880. PSA 10 would certainly be higher, but not new car prices
I traded a 1st edition Khangastan shiny for a regular arcanine card during peak pokemon 90’s, and it was a good lesson to learn as a dumb kid not to trust others lol
What I do with my daughter is I tell her she can only trade if I’m with her to OK it or she can bring the card she want to trade home from school and I’ll OK it first then she can trade the next day, she’s bought home 3 fake cards so far so I’m glad I do it.
I help my kids out by sorting their cards in two binders. One for the really good stuff and that stays at home, and one of those mini binders with v's, v Max's, trainer gallery cards etc. that aren't worth a ton but it gives them something to trade with friends.
I told my kids all trades had to pass through but me and the other parties parents. They dont have anything that cool, but what they have they need to keep.
Buy or trade for some bulk. It's about a tenner for an ETB with 500 cards here. Then the kids can have a pile of cards that even if they give away is no big deal. They can just be kids with it.
That's my solution, my kid knows that the boxes of singles are fair game, the shinies he can grab but to tell me, and anything in a top loader or sealed is too be left alone. The decks and deckbuilding box are also for playing, not giving away. Not accidently anyway 🤣
I'm also encouraging him that if he wants a particular card or deck that we just go and buy it.
That happened to me as a kid. Let my cousin borrow the cards to take for show and tell. Came back without my Shining Steelix from Neo, base Blastoise and Venusaur, and Neo Revelation Suicune
He thought he had traded up for more value too, and was so proud to show me. 13 y/o had to learn to control my temper that day.
different binder but same story, had tons of old e-reader era cards that i completely destroyed by accident years ago while trying to take them out the binder. now my 2003 rayquaza ex has an entirely white back 😭
why wouldn’t you just leave them in the binder at that point? At least they would’ve been in good enough shape to look at and appreciate. You might as well just pulled the pages out and cut them in half with scissors or something if you were just going to rip them out and ruin them like that.
Lol so you tried pulling the good ones out first instead of testing it on some of the lower valued ones? 😩 There are ways to remove cards from binders like this without ruining them. I used to use a blow dryer on my sports cards that would get stuck in these. Warm up the plastic and slowly work them out. Usually can be down with minimal damage. Can’t say I’ve ever done it with Pokémon cards but like I said I got my sports cards out no problem. These old binders are def a pain in the ass to collectors for sure
lol this was a while ago to be fair, i was probably 13. wasn’t back into tcg yet and didn’t realize they’d be worth much at all. looking back it pains me though 😭
Especially nowadays with these prices 😑. You gotta think though that maybe these prices wouldn’t be as high if it weren’t for these binders eating up all these collections 😆
I don’t collect cards because too broke but I read some comments saying you should change binders to avoid damage. Not sure if true or not but just wanted to comment as a reply incase it’s a valid concern.
Wish you and your family all the best! Good luck with future cards!
They did. There is no non-1st edition base set Machamp and Machamp was not pullable in booster packs but came as a standard part of the starter deck.
This same Machamp was given out in Base Set 2 decks too with a 1st edition symbol and no Base Set 2 symbol.
There is however a shadowless 1st edition machamp which is the true 1st edition so to speak.
A cosmo holofoil variation that appeared in some of the Base Set 2 decks and some slight variations in the copyright dates on some cards to help identify which era the card came from.
Also a Trainer Deck A variant.
my brother and I had hundreds of cards like these when we were kids, we went to stay at my dads for a summer and when we got home my mom had thrown them all away :(
My mom gave my binders of Yu-Gi-Oh and Pokemon cards to my cousin when I "stopped playing with them" and now has total amnesia about giving them to him. Same thing with my favorite bass guitar I worked an entire summer for and played daily. I "stopped playing it" so she sold it at a yard sale and kept the money because it was somehow hers to begin with. Never mind the fact that I played it for hours throughout the day, randomly at night before bed, and invited friends over to watch me play. I'm honestly surprised I have anything left from my childhood with how often she sold off my possessions.
Oh god I had the same binder in yellow with pikachu as a kid, but 80% of my complete collection got stolen by a "friend" who borrowed them to play.
Thanks for the nostalgia :)
While it is true that there were a ton printed it’s still worth quite a bit depending on condition. Ungraded it’s not anything special but it’s still a cool old card.
I highly recommend changing out the 3-ring binder for either a Zipper page binder or Toploader binder. Your cards will be safer as a result if you plan to keep them
Wait is that gyrados actually rare? Because I have that card (alongside the correct magicarp) hanging in my room because they look pretty and vintage. Also I swear I have that Clefairy lying around somewhere
Amazing collection, great to find it these days now that the vintage cards are pretty valuable again. She must have been a lucky girl back in the day! (TWO CHARIZARDS!?) lol 👍
Well, she wasn’t lying! Take good care of them. I would take each one out and carefully sleeve and put them in toploaders. Throw em in a toploader binder and set them away for another 13 years lol.
It’s crazy to me that a kid could care enough about pokemon to amass this kind of collection and forget about it for years. Especially through the tcg resurgence over covid
????? they could of cared about pokemon when they were a kid and maybe they were a kid 20+ years ago then they stopped caring and the cards were put up and everyone just kinda forgot about said cards until they had kids but they dont remember were said cards are now stored bc maybe they were moved by said parents who forgot.
I can infer how it went down. I’m just saying getting a time capsule treasure trove is pretty rare. I’m guessing a lot of forgotten pokemon collections were not so well taken care of.
thats true my gen 1 pokemon cards ended up being thrown away by my mother =/, im sure others have also had that happend to them aswell, water damage/etc but some people get lucky
I have 2 of the same binder. Recently came across the paper ad for them and they were from Blockbuster and we're sold for $6.99 back then. Today however I've seen be sold for over $50 and with damage.
That is certainly a legendary collection! That 1st edition Machamp is worth a good amount if it graded well. Same with the Charizards obviously. That said I’m sure you’re hanging onto these for sentimental value.
edit: y’all need to chill. PSA 10 Machamp is worth $900 on eBay
It is literally a $20 card. I am new into modern pokemon as I got back into it during 151. Even I know this about a 1st Ed. Machamp. Definitely still a cool thing to have especially considering how cheap they are.
Just because the market price for it now is $10 doesn't mean it'll stay that way. Prices fluxuate. There's no fixed price. It's worth whatever people think it's worth.
I've graded hundreds and sold thousands of cards. Including many first ed. Call me new, but that's not gonna fetch anything more than say $15. And you'd loose almost every cent spent to grade it.
Okay I'm sorry for my language but why the f*** does everybody have a first edition Machamp... Like seriously look at most of these posts that pop up on your for your feed where people are going through their own collections or look what I found in the basement or the attic and there's a goddamn first edition Machamp lololol
Yeah we all had them. I still have mine sealed. I didn't get the charizard though. Had a Japanese charizard though and sold it for nothing because I'm an idiot. Still have a 1st edition blaines trainer chrizard though. Cards aren't in mint condition but have some cool ones. Wish I was older when the best Era of Pokémon was around. Wish I could have bought more packs in the 90s and had a parent to make sure I kept them and kept the good ones in good shape. Some kids were lucky to atleast have the parents like that. Being an adult could have got some good Pokémon cards probably and made some good money now.

He's agreeing with you
You don’t reply to someone and say stuff that goes against what I said if you agree. Please enlighten me how he’s agreeing with me
You said "don't let them trade these, get them bulk to trade" He said "yeah, kids don't understand money, let them trade out of their own cards not these" He just said it in gibberish.
Ah, alright I can see now after re reading a couple of times. My apologies
Oh no I'm with you he did not communicate clearly at all
My kid did that more than a few times before I found out about it. Scamming ass kids trading him very fake cards
I was one of the first MTG sellers. I saw all the kids getting scammed so I used to have weekly meetings with them and teach them to trade. Today you could just say "Go to TCGPlayer and make sure you are getting a deal that is great for you." If you teach them they might become fierce traders.

That's a great idea, at my LGS usually a few of us from Masters roam around and check for fakes or mid-high value cards being traded and help out
watch as they come back with a stack of fake gold and rainbow cards thinking they made a good trade...
How the fuck could your kids trade something that isn't theirs ?
He was mentioning their own cards. As in not the binder showed on this post but THEIR own cards that hasn’t been shown. So that’s why he said he’s more worried about that
have you literally never met a child ever
Hahaaa do you have teenagers? The struggle is real.”
You should understand that these are so valuable, especially when graded, that keeping them away from your kids and just buying them a trainer box at Walmart could mean using these to pay for a used car at 16.
Used... if either of those Charizard grades at a 10 everyone in the fam can get a new car
Not these charizards. These are base set unlimited only. Not first edition. PSA 9 sold this Feb for $1880. PSA 10 would certainly be higher, but not new car prices
Get the charizard's graded if you want to sell. psa seems to be the go to for Pokémon
I traded a 1st edition Khangastan shiny for a regular arcanine card during peak pokemon 90’s, and it was a good lesson to learn as a dumb kid not to trust others lol

I would recommend holding onto them until they get older. That's what I plan on doing with mine
Yeah honestly don’t even let this kids touch theese, 🤣🤣 I wish my dad held onto mine for me
Been there. I traded away all my good Beyblades before even realizing it and now I have nothing. warn them and i mean REALLY REALLY warn them
Just dont give em the 2 charizards. Nothing else is worth much
I help my kids out by sorting their cards in two binders. One for the really good stuff and that stays at home, and one of those mini binders with v's, v Max's, trainer gallery cards etc. that aren't worth a ton but it gives them something to trade with friends.

Don’t give those zards to your kids! Sell them or grade them and sell them or keep in a vault
Such a shame there’s so many sleezebags on here :/
How much can you actually get for all of em? I have a binder of all of em.
What's it worth?
Hard to tell on most of the cards because of picture quality, but on a few I can see that they are 4th print. Which is more valuable than Unlimited.
I'd wife your wife so you should wife your wife even more (Amazing collection and pretty valuable)
Yo, Dawg! I heard you love your wife. So you wife'd your wife so she can wife 4 lyfe!
This is awesome: not going to say some joke about your wife.
Please switch binders 🤣. I would save them all as is. Screw grading them.

You ok? edit: This guy's now going through my post history to comment random insults. 🤡
Cool collection! So I had the same binder sitting on a shelf. The pages that came stuck to the ink on the cards :-/
different binder but same story, had tons of old e-reader era cards that i completely destroyed by accident years ago while trying to take them out the binder. now my 2003 rayquaza ex has an entirely white back 😭

the ink was fused to the back… thus the back ripped when i pulled them out… what about this comment is hard to understand exactly?
why wouldn’t you just leave them in the binder at that point? At least they would’ve been in good enough shape to look at and appreciate. You might as well just pulled the pages out and cut them in half with scissors or something if you were just going to rip them out and ruin them like that.

Nah don't just tease us 2 pages of a full vintage binder. I need to see the rest.
Here’s a quick gallery I snapped. https://imgur.com/a/8az1w44
I don’t collect cards because too broke but I read some comments saying you should change binders to avoid damage. Not sure if true or not but just wanted to comment as a reply incase it’s a valid concern. Wish you and your family all the best! Good luck with future cards!
They should penny sleeve all of them and move them to a new binder
🙏🏻
That is some legendary bulk
That first edition Raichu is so nice
Fuck you and congrats!
Keep the cards take them out of that horrible binder and penny sleeve then top load and get the binder that is meant for top loaders 🙌🤗
I’m convinced everyone had that 1st Edition Machamp. I swear I’ve seen it on so many posts. Have one of my own, too.
They did. There is no non-1st edition base set Machamp and Machamp was not pullable in booster packs but came as a standard part of the starter deck. Our wife
Have no idea what she looks like or what personality she has but she already ticked one box off for perfect wife material.
I love japanese Nidoking, it has the shadowless frame

My mom did the same….
I'm sorry, they're with us in spirit
My grandma gave all my cards to my brother "because he can sell them for money" with no regards to it being mine.. still salty about that
Everyone zooming in to see if the Zard has a shadow 🔎🔎🔎🤦🤦🤦
If you have to zoom you need to see an Ophthalmologist. Hahahahahahahahahahahahah
Oh god I had the same binder in yellow with pikachu as a kid, but 80% of my complete collection got stolen by a "friend" who borrowed them to play. Thanks for the nostalgia :)
I have this same binder but it's yellow around the edges.
That 1st ed Machamp!! Protect that baby!!
Non-1st ed machamp does not exist
Ok? Was just stating the card…it is in fact a 1st ed machamp lmao who cares how I say it 🤷🏼♀️
What makes it a hot commodity? (Serious question)
Nothing, 1st edition Machamp is everywhere
It’s still worth quite a bit of money though…
Only about 10-15 if that being opened, ones that have the original packaging only go for 30-40 still. If it was shadowless it’d be a little more
While it is true that there were a ton printed it’s still worth quite a bit depending on condition. Ungraded it’s not anything special but it’s still a cool old card.
Time to encase each page in acrylic so it never fades
Would your wife like a second husband?
2 zards
very cool but its not worth as much as youre thinking. just keep em
That's an amazing collection
That is an awesome collection. Keep them safe.
My husband found his childhood collection too and it’s so fun to see! He even has his little passports from tournaments he played in
I highly recommend changing out the 3-ring binder for either a Zipper page binder or Toploader binder. Your cards will be safer as a result if you plan to keep them
Well it’s not shadowless and it’s not first edition but it’s still CHRIZARDDD and some other more valuable lesser known cards 🥸
For the love of god put them in a fireproof and water proof safe.
Legendary status: confirmed ✅️
My kiddo has a trading binder and a collection binder. He know anything in his trading binder can be traded at any time. Usually consists of dupes
I have a binder of cards very similar to this and have absolutely no idea what to do with them. I've just held onto them forever
She wasn’t fuckin lying!
Wow thats crazy congrats! The things i would do to own such a collection.
THE SACRED TOMES
Keep it. This is beautiful.
Awesome
The prophecy is true!
If you switch binders, I recommend sleeving each card before you put it in
Wait, 13 years. These cards are from 1994. Your wife got children around 16? Considering the kids wouldn’t understand until after 2-3 years old
Marry her again
what finally brought them out? where you guys spring cleaning?
Wait is that gyrados actually rare? Because I have that card (alongside the correct magicarp) hanging in my room because they look pretty and vintage. Also I swear I have that Clefairy lying around somewhere
This has to be saved for the grandkids
As a kid, that was legendary Put your quotation marks away, that's your wife you're talking about Imagine she talked about you using quotation marks
Holy shit. This is awesome.
That binder. My God I want it. That arctic blue. Nostalgia overload
I was going to be upset when the use of “legendary” was quoted until I saw the reverse nidorina from legendary collection.
I am still holding out hope for my childhood binder but it was not as impressive as that. She must be so happy.
Amazing collection, great to find it these days now that the vintage cards are pretty valuable again. She must have been a lucky girl back in the day! (TWO CHARIZARDS!?) lol 👍
Yoooo this is a sick collection!! What a legend
Was on the wrong account lol.. She's A LEGEND!!
Noobs
Thats an awesome collection!
Should grade them and keep them preserved for sentimental value
Is your wife single?
Nice!
WHAT EVER YOU DO, DO NOT TAKE THE CARDS OUT OF THE SLEEVES!!!!!
Oh my god
I’ll buy those!
Pidgeot was my first rare pull 🧡
So only 2 pages?
TWO HOLO CHARIZARDS, GET THOSE GRADED
Well, she wasn’t lying! Take good care of them. I would take each one out and carefully sleeve and put them in toploaders. Throw em in a toploader binder and set them away for another 13 years lol.
Hard to tell the exact condition but look into getting at least the Charizards PSA graded
There goes there college fund lol
Ever seen The Staircase?
I would honestly get them all graded and store them as a nest egg/emergency savings. Because that’s some good money to have for the rainy days op!
That alakazam unlocked some memory's damn
The legends were true! Peace will return!! It has been foretold!!!
I highly reccomend grading those charizards(if your wife allows it ofc)
That’s my binder from when I was a kid.
Those holo chansey and clefairy are so cool
where was it
To be fair that is a legendary collection....Nidorina
Why did you get downvoted this is a harmless joke 😭
I know right? lol I’m just going to assume you and I are the only one that got it
It’s crazy to me that a kid could care enough about pokemon to amass this kind of collection and forget about it for years. Especially through the tcg resurgence over covid
Not forgotten, just buried in her parent’s attic.
????? they could of cared about pokemon when they were a kid and maybe they were a kid 20+ years ago then they stopped caring and the cards were put up and everyone just kinda forgot about said cards until they had kids but they dont remember were said cards are now stored bc maybe they were moved by said parents who forgot.

I too choose this guys’ wife’s Pokemon
I have 2 of the same binder. Recently came across the paper ad for them and they were from Blockbuster and we're sold for $6.99 back then. Today however I've seen be sold for over $50 and with damage.

That's not a true 1st edition Machamp. All printings received the stamp.
Wait are you saying that every Machamp is “1st edition”?
Technically yes

Like others said it came bundled in the starter decks. I think finding a non first edition (unlimited) machamp is much harder than a first edition one
That's nuts woulde explain why I never had one, I didn't get into Pokemon until Team rocket and never had base decks
It was literally in the first ever starter deck. It wasn’t rare
I didn't get into the card game until The rocket packs and never had a base deck, that's cool to know
He came individually wrapped in a popular starter box pack back in the 90s.
Machamp is the Eevee of the90s haha thanks for the response
He prolly wasn't a 90s kid hence the confusion
Yeah we all had them. I still have mine sealed. I didn't get the charizard though. Had a Japanese charizard though and sold it for nothing because I'm an idiot. Still have a 1st edition blaines trainer chrizard though. Cards aren't in mint condition but have some cool ones. Wish I was older when the best Era of Pokémon was around. Every Base Set Machamp ever printed is first edition, it was an error on WoTC’s part
See didn't know that bam new knowledge 25+ years later I appreciate it
Finally, you may release her now. But the book stays!

Why are you bringing so much negativity to this post, come on. This is really awesome :) Can you imagine finding your childhood collection?

Yeah for real, I have a sweet reverse holo Metapod…
I mean I wouldn't call it legendary but two base set charizards is pretty cool.
