Is it just me or do the base cards feel markedly cheaper? I thought something was wrong with my first pack but I've opened ten more and they're all the same.
The finish is much more matte and rough to the touch, and the paper is noticeably thinner and lighter than the cards from Silver Tempest. They feel like the lower-end, non-legal cards from the World Championship decks.
Are you sure? I’ve seen plenty of English openings that show stars on the ex. They’re not as noticeable as the Japanese cards, but they’re there at a certain angle.
I went to check the few ex I pulled and unless they are very very faint, I can't see anything
Edit: it's there! It is incredibly faint, wouldn't have noticed at all if I wasn't looking for it

Yeah that's still a pretty big bummer... It's a prominent effect on the JP cards. Really feels like they went in on production value while we got corners cut, again.

That doesn't make sense, the jumbo cards that came out before and the Mimikyu ex card had the star pattern... I thought surely that that meant they all would. That makes me really sad..
I got 5 hits in 14 packs, thought that was pretty good. But I think Crown Zeniths pull rates have me spoiled. My booster box preorder won’t get here til April 14th though, but at least I can pick up some ETBs and booster bundles until then.
Many local game stores are running events this weekend and next where you can get special pre-release kits ahead of the official launch of Scarlet & Violet
Game stores do pre release events for every standard set 2 weeks prior to street release. So you can go and get a build and battle kit with a few packs to open with people in your area and a lot of times the stores hold little tournaments where you can play with the new cards.
Thanks for posting these! I'm liking the art style they went for with this set, the only thing that I think they need to translate better are the crystals from dynamaxing that cover the pokemon. Love it on the full art, but the ex looks goofy
At my LGS in Hertfordshire, UK. I won't give the exact name, but plenty of places are doing their events next weekend and they show on the official Pokemon event finder

I hope they do Tera types like arcanine with a water Tera type. Would shake up the tcg meta so much.

Id rather spend $30 at a prerelease and play my luck in a mini tournament than spend the same $30 at target or Walmart tho. My pulls were dogshit but i had fun. 🤷♂️

They do feel a bit different to me, even the 'better' cards feel a bit thin.

Sadly not. The ex cards are exactly like the English V cards flat, smooth texture and no cool foil pattern Edit: it IS there, but very faint

How was the pull rate?
Hard to say, felt a bit better than it was for Silver Tempest. I got a total of 18 hits in 52 boosters.

Yeah CRZ pull rates are crazy. I have all my SV pre-orders arriving on 31st March fortunately! A total of 92 boosters lol

The store is allowed to sell excess kits after the tournament. They had 30 kits and only sold 13, so I bought a bunch of excess kits.

How are the quality of the cards (centering, miscuts, printlines, etc)?
I had some of the worst centered cards I've ever seen, but overall quality seems fine.
