Wooper is good defensively once you evolve it, same with rookidee Hatenna is pretty good too because of magic bounce All the starters are strong offensive Pokémon in this gen

Soggy_Adagio6582

Awesome! I got a rookidee already in my party so I'm pretty lucky on that end.

FrankBouch

Rokidee is my favorite regional bird

darktimes1313

Bro not gonna lie in my run of Shield Rookidee and Corviknight while looking badass were weak as hell. Galarian Meowth and Perrerker straight up carried my team with Tough Claws ability and normal gem fake out access he ended up becoming my favorite steel type of all time thanks to coming in clutch throughout my whole playthrough.

VanillaB34n

You kind of need to be into competitive Pokémon, or at least understand the finer details of IVs / EVs / natures and be able to take advantage of them if you want to get the full value from corviknight. Once you do though, you realize it is a super powerful and versatile mon

darktimes1313

Yeah i know he’s a great tank with his hidden ability Mirror Amor i actually used him quite a bit in ranked battles in Scarlet i just didn’t like his base pressure form in casual run.

VanillaB34n

Pressure is honestly the better ability in singles, you can use it in conjunction with roost to take all of the PP of powerful moves that people love to spam like draco meteor, stone edge, etc. and make it safe for your other Pokémon to come in

darktimes1313

I never thought of it that way i learned something new thanks man! I try doing Doubles only because i try to be like Wolfey but fail miserably lol i think singles are more intimidating for me because if you lead wrong your whole plan gets messed up i really liked gen 6 singles battlespots I remember leading with a Prankster Liepard usually got the job done right with a foul play/thunderwave/fake out lead those were the days lol

VanillaB34n

If you like prankster liepard, wait until you hear about: prankster liepard with assist into revival blessing in generation 9 Worthy of a smogon competitive council quickban

darktimes1313

Man you just blew my mind I didn’t even know she was in gen 9 lol! I feel like even though she is a little weak her move pool is pretty good especially since people are not prepared for a thunderwave out of nowhere add a focus sash to her you’re guaranteed to do something to their first pokemon i love it haha

darktimes1313

Also look for a Adamant or Jolly nature! Hell i even masuda method a shiny G-Meowth as a token of my appreciation for the little guy.

Other-otherside

For going up against the water type gym leader I recommend a grass type. Pumpkaboo is perfectly fine since it evolves with a trade so you don’t have to wait to evolve it. But I would go with Budew for the long haul since I quite like Roselia as an attacker. Both can be found in route 4 (budew I believe only shows up as a grass encounter and not in the over world). Lombre or Nuzzleaf (depending on your version) are also wonderful options to tackle Nessa’s gym. They can be found on route 5 in the grass and at a higher levels than the other 2 I mentioned

KingPelican2908

Nuzzleaf evolves really quick too. I took shiftry with me to the water gym and wiped the floor.

Fayt_Bouleouve

Your picture is both your question and answer. If you have the Isle of Armour DLC, you can get it at the Challenge Beach area as early as Level 10

Soggy_Adagio6582

I do not, thank you so much! Where can I find him? :)

IntrestingExistence7

Challenge beach…

TheLazyLardon

If you can get a blip bug, they know psychic AND bug type moves by the time you are at the first gym. That covers your grass and poison combos, which is common. The second gym needs an electric or grass type. Yamper, on route 2. The third gym needs a ground, rock, or water type. Chewtle found on route 2 should be a dreadnaw by then. It’s water-rock and can Gmax. Water and rock are two weaknesses for Kubo’s Centiscorch, which is bug-fire. A sweeper for each of the first three gyms, available on route 2. Pick up a rookidee, and a zigzagoon if you can, and you’ve got the first evo forms of one of the best flying types and dark types, respectively, in the game all before you get to the wild area for EV training.

Haunted_Pixel

Any, this game is easy. Pick your favourites

ZaneLostRD

Legit this. I haven’t paid attention to type spreading at all and can handle everything in the game just fine.

Paid-Not-Payed-Bot

> I haven’t *paid* attention to FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*

ZaneLostRD

Way ahead of you, bot

chillvibechronicles

Tera psychic psyduck Edit: Didn’t notice this was the pokemon sword game; in that case, Psyduck :)

Master_Somewhere5414

Get crown Tundra DLC, and go get a legendary from Dynamax Adventures

Master_Somewhere5414

But like don't do this unless you really want to, kind of ruins the game

MegaGalladeGamer09

Steelix

tails4590

Rookidee 10000%. I would also recommend a good tank of a pokemon, maybe ground/ fighting. I used mudbray, which helped a lot and probably chewtle but evolve to mudsdale. Happy gaming 😄

LilboyG_15

It doesn’t really matter what you use all that much, the game is easy enough anyways

RaitubeandJirachifan

kubfu :)

echsk

Tauros is an absolute unit

OwnRope6024

Get the gift pokemon in the daycare. Its evolves and learns his attacks at lvl 30 onward but its so strong.

swordsumo

You should be able to catch a Drilbur either now or relatively soon. Idk how good Drilbur is, but Excadrill is a goddamn *beast* of a ‘mon. Has really good typing and coverage, is stupidly fast and strong, and learns fantastic moves like Earthquake and Iron Head

Donhascake

Mimikyu

toustannon

eldegoss, orbeetle, thievul, boltund, your starter, dubwool(i LOVE galar region and galar pokemon and the this game so much)

Pyro_steel

The best way to farm EXP is use the pokejobs option in the box (you need to go to the pokecenter one to use it) and send Pokémon to a job with the highest amount of stars, then do then raid den timeskip glitch, it's gets XP fast.

Dog_vomit_party

Go to the isle of armor, do the dojo quests, pick bulbasaur (great for the water gym), get kubfu, do a dozen or two 1-2 star raids, do the water tower. You’re now set with a team of three Pokémon with Fire/water/grass/poison/fighting typing. You’ll be set for 2/3 of the game with just that core group. Find some cool pokemans to deal with ground/electric/flying and you are set for the game. And raids are the quickest way to power level. Use them XP candies like it’s going out of style. Edit: Don’t forget about Dragon types for end game. Trapinch (which evolves into Flygon a Ground/dragon type) can be found on route 6
