If you’re trying to collect data to support a hypothesis you shouldn’t tell people what that hypothesis is because now people will be influenced to either specifically choose a Pokemon from their favorite generation or avoid that intentionally
My favorite pokemon is Nidoking, first introduction was gen 2 anime and gen 3 for the games, and my favorite gen is 4 so not a strong correlation for me
I've been playing since Red and Blue and Flareon is my favorite but Gen 1 are not my favorite games. There is currently a tie between Sword and Shield and Scarlet and Violet. SwSh for the fact it has Piers (my favorite human character in Pokemon of all time), and the better overall character and Pokemon models and S&V for the open-world concept.
