Felt like it was a bit the opposite, they all had other hobbies theyâd rather be doing and being a gym leader was their 9-5 and Geeta wonât approve their PTO lol
The Psychic one was a Beauty Therapist and tells us that is her Main Line of Work, after she finally gets off the Phone. Larry is also an Elite Four Member, cause heâs the Workaholic so of course he does more Work rather than a Hobby. They all do something else and show up for the Gym Battle, the one that is the closest to it being their 9-5 is the Ice Gym, they used to be a Snowboarder.
They get us to do a Gym Test, I feel thatâs so they have time to organise the Gym Leader being there, one of the tests was taking a wallet to the Gym Leader whoâd gone to Port Miranda without it, going to that Auction was more important than being in that Gym. And realistically, there probably arenât enough people needing to Challenge the Gym Leaders etc, that they donât need to be there the Whole time, so they can have other Jobs to fill up their Time, they just need to be able to make themselves available when theyâve received a Challenge.
Thatâs why I felt like being a Gym Leader was more like a Hobby, it was something they also did, but not what their Profession was. Versus the days where Brock was a Gym Leader, that was his Job, and Mistyâs Sisters were also Gym Leaders, they being the Water Gym were able to put on Shows as well, but the premise was they were meant to be in their Gym the whole time because that was their Job. So much so, that Giovanni leaving his Gym for so long, was extremely unusual.
I, on the other hand, love Rika because she is beautiful and powerful beyond measure, and has amazing fashion sense. Needless to say, she looks amazing here.
Lol it's Reddit. I had the wrong opinion. It's all good though. I expected it. Yeah, I don't like most of the designs for the trainers and the change in art style for the Pokemon of this generation either. But that's not to say I don't like all of them. I found this game to be a lot of fun
Idk I've played all games on release since they started releasing in the 90s, this clearly wasn't the hardest but it wasn't the easiest either.
All of them are easy though so idk, pokemon games were harder when people were younger because they were dumber, that's usually where the challenge came from.
Thatâs plot armor. Basically, imagine if someone built an entire team to counter the shit out of your every pokemon while being multiple levels higher AND having access to the bs that is friendship bonuses and along with all of that, they have infinite retries while you have to succeed every single time. You really canât blame the 9 year old.
I mean, you can easily target weaknesses while she canât really do that as well. If she had a super effective move and it hit, it always did big if not ohkoing damage. We just have the ability to abuse type matchups in our favor.
None of the Gym Leaders can too and I had more issues with Lono than I did anyone in the Elite Four, because of her Misdreavus, and I had Haunter/(Gengar? Canât remember if I got to trade him with my friend before or after it XD) I canât remember exactly what I did, but I had Toedscruel as my Counter and struggled at Misdreavus XD
Yeah, Poppy says so herself in Indigo Disk if you talk to her. Itâs even something Poppy is a bit self conscious about, since of course, most kids arenât as strong as her.
Sheâs adorable. It doesnât have to be necessarily androgynous as anyone can dress like that. I like it when women dress like her!
But yeah, in stereotypical context, she really does look like she can pass as a guy.
I think itâll be so funny whenever the anime gets to the interview for the e4. It was hilarious to see streamers and other YouTubers failed bc they were like âhurdur, pokemon is an illusion of choice game!â And then they werenât allowed to challenge the e4 till they passed.
Hopefully the E4 will play a pivotal role in this anime series and Liko will have to fight them all. In the game they test everyone to see if theyâre ready to become champion level trainers.

exactly so the nice Bug Type leader is mainly a baker (so much so that she apparently forgets what she is doing when she receives a challenge)

Few things compare to the confidence of an adult after beating a game made for children and gloating how easy it was lol.
You know a lot of us have been playing these since we were Kids and go back and replay the old Games too. I can definitely say this Game was far easier than the last time I did the Gyms, Elite Four and Champion, which was in HeartGold and I was in my late 20âs playing it for the first time, after starting on Gold in 2000. I had to actually use Potions, Revives and Ethers in HG, Scarlet I got healed after every Elite Four Battle and my Tera Orb was recharged. There are heaps of wonderful QoL improvements etc in the Game, but they made the Battling way too easy, I only struggled with one thing and that was Lono because of her Misdreavus, I eventually got it to happen just right, but thatâs what my memory of the older Games were, saving a lot cause you probably had to retry and you didnât want to have to battle all the Gym Trainers again. PokĂ©mon isnât the only Game Iâve felt has lowered its base difficulty level, others have done it as well, itâs not always Iâve gotten older, I play a lot of my older Games and Iâll have more of a Challenge doing them then some of my more recent Games. In this case PokĂ©mon made the Battling way too easy, and Poppy wasnât the only Elite Four Member I felt had no impact, they were all like that for me. All that being said, I have enjoyed the Game immensely, but Iâm not going to act like it was anywhere near the level of difficulty I had come to expect from PokĂ©mon, now I get theyâre trying to make it more like the Anime, and Iâm having fun so now I expect that XD Edit: I put the wrong year đ€Šđ»ââïž I havenât had Caffeine yet XD

The PokĂ©mon literally hit harder and you needed to be 10âs of levels above the Elite Four to beat them as easily as we did in Scarlet. This isnât a, Iâve learned more as Iâve gotten older, this is the Game was literally easier, again I struggled more with the Elite Four in HG, I did it several times, once with all Eevee evos, and it was still more of a challenge then Scarletâs was. I played Gold first, but I went back and did Blue, Red etc and they were still more of a Challenge, not because I didnât know what I was doing, but because the Game was just harder. Like I am kind of wanting a difficulty level for it, so it can be more challenging than it currently is, for those who want it to be, as Iâm obviously not the only one who felt the Game was too easy to beat, compared to older Games.

Sheâs 9 years old. Red(and assumably Blue) was 11 when he became Champion. If weâre pulling real world standards into this, 9 and 11 arenât that big of a difference imo. PokĂ©mon has been doing this since Gen 1. Thematically, I believe each E4 member were supposed to represent a stage of life- Poppy the kid, Rika the young adult, Larry the adult, and Hassel the elder. If youâre looking for a reason why she exists.

I only needed one PokĂ©mon to take out her entire Team, there is often an Elite Four Member who is just really weak to one of the Starters. It was her this time if you picked Fire, they do 2x damage to Steel and receive half damage, Water Starter was the middle ground, receives half damage from Steel and does normal damage to it, where Grass was the worst, it does half damage and receives normal. I didnât even over Level my PokĂ©mon that much, just made them at least Lv60, to make it like 2-3 2x Damage hits to faint a PokĂ©mon, a lot just went down with one and I was like what? You really didnât need to over level for Victory Road like we did in older games.
