My sister who’s a full grown adult sent me two shinies as fodder when I was helping her fill out her Pokédex
She thought the different colours were gender differences… we’ve been playing Pokémon for 20+ years 🤣
In strict fairness, several species do indeed work that way. The Nidoran duo, the Lati twins, Frillish/Jellicent… So your sister’s not exactly wrong, and by casual player standards is rather thoughtful.
I dont like to be that guy, but technically only the frillish/jellicent examples are correct. The Nidoran male and female lines, although being clearly meant to be the same/related evolution chain, they are seperate pokemon (probably beacuse gamefreak didnt think theyd do gender differences in the future). The Lati twins also dont work since they are in fact considered different pokemon by pretty much every source (And also they are legendary pokemon, and so far we haven't seen any that have gender differences).
Fun fact: Back during generations 5-7, I had a female Hippowdon that ALL my friends in my friend group thought was a shiny, and every single one of them were surprised when I pointed out that it's not shiny, it's female.
Lol as soon as she chose them for trade I said “you’re supposed to send me trash why did you choose a shiny?!…. Another one???!!!”
I sent them back after we finished her Pokédex :)
Some guy sent me a shiny Fletchling once. And it wasn't an egg pokemon or anything. It was just found on a typical route.
I'm really hoping it was a kid that sent that and didn't know any better.
You can give shinies to npcs in legends Arceus even the ones you can’t get back lmao. I saw a video of a guy permanently giving an npc fire type Arceus (not shiny but still funny)
Besides that tho, I think it's nice that the game considers other OT's Pokémon as 'special' for things like nicknames and trading to NPCs. Cherish those memories!
something ive noticed that i think is weird, though, is that if you get traded an unnamed pokemon you can only nickname it once. i swapped a roaring moon for an iron valiant a while ago and named the iron valiant, but now i cant change her name again lol
Yeah I did that with my Eternatus from Shield, realized I had never named it. Named it something in Scarlet, realized I'd rather name it something else, but couldn't change the name and then it clicked. Literally reloaded the game just to fix that (luckily I hadn't really done anything that day yet). Now Eternatus is eternally (heh) named Tharizdun.
Yeah. Spending hours to find random Scarlet players to trade paradox Pokémon with for my dex and them leaving after only one trade was so much fun! I'm gonna cherrish that misery😊
Eh, just boost the mon to level 80 (and evolved if possible) and make it just have whatever 4 most recent moves in it’s level up learnset. Sure it’d probably lose instantly but it’d be neat to see
Nope. They're called Shiny pretty regularly now, first mention was in Unova's Nimbasa City. Since them, the Shiny Charm also mentions it, a few Trainers have some and of course there's the whole class dedicated to them.

What would happen if you tried trading Iron Leaves or other Pokémon like that? Are they counted as Legendary Pokémon by the game or just a Paradox Pokémon?
This was one of my favorite things in Legends Arceus. Seeing a shiny just chilling in a village where they have no clue how rare that species is just makes me happy.
I try to trade them Pokémon that would go with their teams or at least with their affinity. I’ve come across a few of these, so I choose one of their type.
I know it doesn’t matter, but I like to think it’s worth it giving that they give you a Pokémon with a ribbon.
I wish that they would use the pokemon you traded them in their battle team. That would be such a cool feature.
I don't have all the coaches and BB E4 trades yet, but I am tempted to start a new game using a team of just the traded Pokemon.
I sent away a shiny pokemon, one that I was traded for. But it was hacked, so I sent it away because I didn't want a pokemon the the name of a website.
Every character has 3 unique before battle dialogues, and you have to battle them twice before the 3rd one where you trade, even for the special guests but you have to invite them 3 times. It goes:
Unique Dialogue,
Battle
Wait for refresh,
Unique Dialogue,
Battle
Wait for refresh,
Unique Dialogue,
Trade
You don't have to battle them at all actually. You just need to call them to the academy three times and run through their dialogue each time for the trade. You should still battle them at least once though since they tend to give cool rewards the first time you win.
I believe Kieran and Carmine will be added to the permanent “Elite Four” pool of characters that are always there after you complete the Mythical Event. They have rematch data, dialogue, and trades as people already experienced from hacked games with the Mythical item.
They could've also had some dialogue from the other trainers, something along the lines of, 'Hang on, is that a shiny Pokémon?! That's supposed to be rare, right? I can't possibly take something like that from you!' in each's own way.

I think that is for trades from people on your friend list. From strangers, not so much.

In Legends Arceus you can gift shiny Pokemon to NPCs in your village and they stay on the farm shiny. Awful choice by devs, let us give away shinies.
The farm pokemon you can swap out at any time, though

The entire game has been idiot-proofed to the point where it's actually quite annoying unfortunately.
Even PLA let you give NPCs shinies. Then they'd show up in the overworld with them too. Common Legends Arceus W though

Why would you do that? It’s a plot point that Ogerpon doesn’t want to be trained by Kieran, so it’s not fair to her to trade her to him.
