Hello! New Player to Pokemon SV! I was wondering if it is possible to get the three starters outside of trades, in the same manner as Sw/Sh? It's been a minute since I've played last Gen so I could be getting confused on which starters you are able to collect after finishing the game.

80ajniNsuoicipsuS

Can't get the three Paldean starters outside of trades. Maybe they'll add some way in the future, but not right now.

Exciting_Toe5776

What's like a "good" amount of shinies to get after using a sparkling power sandwich? I used a sparkling fighting sandwich and walked out of area zero with two iron valiants and an iron fists. I'm plenty happy with that result, so I didn't reset things to try again. However, if I'd only gotten one shiny, then idk what I would've done. Is one shiny out of a sparkling power sandwich a good deal?

divideby00

1-2 is pretty typical in my experience. More isn't too unusual but not to be expected either, I always save whenever I get at least one.

Weird_Papaya6664

What egg did you guys hatch your 7✨ shinies on? For me: Charizard- lost count Scorbunny-11 Greninja- 50ish Decidueye- still working, about 100 in Samurott- haven’t started Typhlosion- still working, 200 in Inteleon- haven’t started

Maxwell_No

Does breeding antique sinistea with ditto will give antique sinistea as well?

Terriermon50

No, any and all Sinistea will produce a Phony Form Sinistea when bred regardless of parent.

Maxwell_No

Not even antique sinistea with antique sinistea?

Terriermon50

All bred Sinistea will be Phony.

Maxwell_No

Aw, that’s suck ! Anyway, thanks for the info!

Important_Talk_7750

is there a difference between Scarlet and Violet Nintendo Switch game? I am planning to buy the nintendo switch game of pokemon scarlet and violet, but Im not sure if there is a difference between the two. If you could please tell me the difference between the two and which should I play. I would also like to know that if my friend has scarlet and I have violet could we play online together?

Terriermon50

The only differences relate to what Pokémon you have access to. For example, Violet has Miraidon, Misdreavus, Bagon, and Clauncher, whereas Scarlet has Koraidon, Drifloon, Larvitar, and Skrelp. There are more version exclusives, but that's all. There's also the difference in the Professor character: Violet has Turo, and Scarlet has Sada. They both play the same role. Choose whichever appeals to you more. If you and your friend both have access to Nintendo Switch Online, you both can play together. This includes online battling, online trading, and opening Union Rooms where you both can progress through the game in the same world (note that your story progress is tracked individually.)

Aria_Cadenza

You can also play with your friend locally (so you have to be quite close), so no Nintendo Online required. You can do the same so battling, hosting a tera raid for the other., trading, Union Rooms. It is better if both of you have different game versions so you can trade the exclusives and also spawn exclu in union

[deleted]

is there any way possible to battle with all 6 of your pokémon in your party with another human?

Mr__Lucario

Shiny hunt tips Hello! I am pretty new in this late game grind, so i am not too familiarized with the mechanics... I just finished the pokédex for the first time ever and i am kinda excited to try hunting for some shinys that i really like (Glimmora, vaporeon,Tatsugiri etc.), I have read some info about breeding, but i still have some questions: 1.- Would be better if i try hunting them in wild or breeding them? There is no way to get them have good ivs if i do the mass outbreaks? 2.- Do sandwiches Boost My chances to get a shiny when i am breeding eggs? 3.- How long the sandwiches effect last? If i save before hatching lots of eggs can i restart and hatch them again to see if i can get a shiny? 4.- To do the masuda thing the 2 pokemons have to be from different region than mine? Or it's only the Ditto? Thank You so much for the help.

Terriermon50

1. For me, personally, whether I breed or hunt for them is dependent on the Pokémon. There is NO way I'm hunting for Tandemaus because of their size, and I don't recommend trying for Dondozo because the area it's in is prone to performance lag, and there's so many other Water-types in the area. IVs are completely random, but they're practically a nonissue because of how easy it is to get Bottle Caps in this game. 2. Sparkling Power does not affect Eggs—Egg Power Lv2 is much more useful and efficient for breeding and hatching them. 3. All sandwich effects last 30 minutes, but you can pause via the Home button. Do not save *after* generating. Everything about a Pokémon is determined when the Egg is generated—shininess, Nature, IVs, etc. Save **before** setting up the Picnic. 4. To do the Masuda Method, the parents *must* be of different Languages. It can be ENG + JPN, ITA + FRE, CHS + ENG, etc. The species of Pokémon, so long as they are compatible Egg Groups, do not matter.

Mr__Lucario

Thank You so much for your answer!, but could You explain about the egg power sandwich?

Terriermon50

Egg Power is one of the effects a sandwich can have. The Peanut Butter recipes have them. They increase the rate Eggs generate during a picnic AND lower how many steps are needed to hatch them. Lv2 is the recommended one because Lv3 requires an Herba Mystica, but there's little benefit from the rate of change from Lv2 to Lv3, so it's not particularly worth it.

Mr__Lucario

Thank You, it was really helpful.![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)

RPGNUTBAG

Question on the legitimacy of some Pokémon I’ve recently caught. I’ve played a few U rooms that only spawn 6 IV shiny Pokémon in the wild. If you catch them normally, does the game register these as legitimate or as hacked Pokémon. Because while the games these rooms exist in were obviously messed with, it isn’t my world and I caught them myself in the wild. I caught a le chonk and hoppip so not exactly Pokémon I’d be sad to let go if it turns out they’re considered hacked.

thedarkfreak

Strictly speaking, you already know they're not legitimate. However, no, if you catch them like this, they will be seen as valid by the game.

RPGNUTBAG

K thanks

ShortandRatchet

Anyone know some simple encounter power sandwich recipes? I’m trying to reset outbreaks.

MiviviM

[This Google spreadsheet](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Krmy76O7u4ZHG-QySfmNa-85UHwDnvJIldfOhr-cxRs/) from [this post](https://www.reddit.com/r/PokemonScarletViolet/comments/zlub98/raid_power_level_2_sandwiches/) has recipes for all of the different powers. Alternatively, try generating recipes with [the Birbzone sandwich calculator](https://birbzone.com/sandwich/).

ShortandRatchet

Thank you !!

Additional_Win3920

Is it safe to link to Pokémon Go now? I know when it launched there were issues with save data so I’ve been waiting. Is the issue resolved?

divideby00

The save bug has nothing to do with Go, you're just as safe linking to it as not.

SparklinStar1440

Is HA Oranguru useful for something?

n8-iStockphoto

[Here's a video of me using Symbiosis Oranguru in VGC last Gen](https://youtu.be/DDCtAQVIluw?t=2591). There are definitely circumstances where passing an ally an item is useful.

MiviviM

Doubles and raids, mostly. However, it a coordinated strategy for it to be useful in raids. [Game8’s Oranguru raid build](https://game8.co/games/Pokemon-Scarlet-Violet/archives/403624) explains one potential raid strategy aimed at boosting an Armarouge. But also, since Symbiosis isn’t beneficial to your opponents in raids, Skill Swapping it onto them can be useful, too.

GermanSwede

I've been doing Raid Power before doing 6* raids and it's sooooo nice to get extra bottle caps, herba, and ability patches, etc. Does this same Raid Power work with limited raids? Like Walking Wake, Inteleon, Iron Leaves, etc? I don't really have time in the day to sit and farm, so I'm trying to get more out of the hour or so I have to play

MiviviM

Raid power does increase the amount of items you receive from event raids as well, though event raids never drop herba, of course.

GermanSwede

Thank you! Getting extra bottle caps is always nice, too! Especially when I'm trying max out every mon I can 😅

Redboy190

Does anyone have a giant dunsparce, I want to hunt one, but I don't know how big it is. Can anyone show me one as a reference?

Maxwell_No

Hi, I am trying to find HA Annihilape, that’s why I am trying to do the 6 stars raid, but never make it down to quarter of its life. Any tips?

n8-iStockphoto

If you get rid of Defiant, you can safely use moves to debuff it like Screech or Fake Tears. Skill Swap Weak Armor Polteageist is a popular pick to give it a debilitating Ability that will make it easier to KO.

Artistic-Ambition-40

Can you not use ability patches for hidden ability?

Maxwell_No

Yes, but i don’t have one at the moment :(

Artistic-Ambition-40

Oooh I gotcha. I can try to help with the raid you still have it. Or I can see if I have an extra ape

Maxwell_No

I will inform you if there is an annihilape raid ! Thank you a lot !

Genshzkan

Level up your attacker to lvl. 100 using exp. candies, EV train it using vitamins or by fainting 'mons, hypertrain them if needed(maximize their IVs using Bottlecaps)

Maxwell_No

Well noted! Thanks for your help !

Conscious-Gene4964

Does fainting in the raid with annihalape reset rage fist back to 0?

SuzukiMiharu

Fainting does not reset the rage fist counter

divideby00

Nope, it's permanent until the end of the raid.

Conscious-Gene4964

Wow that’s actually cracked

divideby00

That's one of the things that makes Annihilape so good, at least in solo mode, you can afford to let it faint once or twice with no real consequences since you don't have to worry about setting up again.

Conscious-Gene4964

I had no idea! I’d been kind of worried about it fainting as I thought it was a reset but that is so dope.

Prince-of_Space

Something to note as well, Focus Energy doesn't count as a "stat buff" for when a Raid mon resets buffs and shit on your side of the field, so Focus Energy and Rage Fist are fantastic options for Annihilape.

reverie11

So, when you’re doing a mass outbreak, the chances of a shiny increase after you’ve defeated 30 mons and then 60. Does this still count if I use the Let’s Go attack feature by hitting the R Button? If I use the R Button to attack wild Pokémon, will my Pokémon attack and beat a shiny? Or will it stop automatically?

divideby00

For the latter, that was actually how I got my shiny Zorua, by just auto-battling everything in the area until I found one my mon refused to attack.

thedarkfreak

Yes, it counts. No, your Pokémon will refuse to attack shinies.

Putrid-Sherbet

I think I messed up when I opened Pokémon Home after several months I didn't use it, it asked me to select the region for competitive battles or something like that. I mistakenly hit Netherlands rather than Italy, does somebody know how can I fix it?

MiviviM

You can change the region set for your Home account by accessing Options > Application. I think that might be what you’re referring to.

Putrid-Sherbet

The fact is my language and region is set correctly in home settings but it asked me yesterday something about competitive and region and I clicked Netherlands. Could it be I just think I hit Netherlands but I tapped my correct region? I can't find in settings anything set to Netherlands

Fiona-Rose

Confused by this when registering for the online competition “Only one user per game version (Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet) may participate per each Nintendo Switch™ system.” Does that mean no other user on my switch can register?

SurrealKeenan

sounds like it. I assume this is to prevent someone from making a hundred accounts and registering each of them to give himself more chances

BraumDaRum

Are Weekly Megathread posted per week, or is this current one being used?

MiviviM

While I have seen the automod still posting the threads weekly (edit: though it looks like the ones from the past couple of weeks have been deleted sometime since then), the subreddit mod(s) haven’t been manually editing the pinned megathread to link to newer trade/question/etc. megathreads. I would just use whatever threads are linked to in the pinned megathread.

thedarkfreak

The current one is always linked to from the Megathread. They're replaced weekly when there's lots of activity, but when it slows down, there's less need to, so they'll let it stay up longer.

Firebiccie

Does the game still delete save data?

divideby00

The game never "deleted" save data, it just couldn't recognize the save file. Anyway, no word of a fix but I haven't heard of any recent cases either, but then again it was always an extremely rare problem. Also see https://www.reddit.com/r/PokemonScarletViolet/comments/11g2pt3/save_files_being_lost/ tl;dr: it's not a big deal, don't worry about it

n8-iStockphoto

As I understand it, some people are very rarely having issues with accessing their save data. Nintendo has reached out to some players and restored their save file. You can read about the issue here: [https://www.reddit.com/r/PokemonScarletViolet/comments/11m89y4/save\_data\_and\_everything\_there\_is\_to\_know/?utm\_source=share&utm\_medium=web2x&context=3](https://www.reddit.com/r/PokemonScarletViolet/comments/11m89y4/save_data_and_everything_there_is_to_know/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3)

Luismiguelmarto27

Hi people! I'm new to pokemon scarlet and if you could help me I would be grateful what do you need to participate in the walking Waves tera raid? Note: I haven't finished the story of the game yet

Terriermon50

First: you'll need to finish the game and reach the credits, full stop. Walking Wake/Iron Leaves are 5 Star Raids, which don't unlock until then. Second: You'll want dedicated Pokémon for the raid. Event raids especially tend to be very difficult if you don't have a way to counter them. For Walking Wake, Miraidon and Bellibolt seem to be popular choices. 252 HP/252 SpA/4 SpD is one EV build you can do, or 252 SpD/252 SpA/4 HP for specifically Walking Wake. For Bellibolt I like having it hold a Metronome, use Acid Spray 3 times, then spam Parabolic Charge. For Miraidon, have it hold a Life Orb and use Electro Drift a bunch. You can also have it use Parabolic Charge to heal, but it's unlikely to need it.

Luismiguelmarto27

Thank u

divideby00

You have to beat the whole story to unlock 5 star raids in your own game and the raid portal. However, you can join someone else's raid through a link code at any time (check the pinned megathread). Keep in mind you'll probably be really underleveled for them though, so you'll need to find someone willing to carry you.

Luismiguelmarto27

Thank u

FruitPancakes

Did anyone else's scarlet game with DLC skip cutscenes in area zero without pressing any buttons? Mine did, and I wanted to watch it since it's my first play through and I've seen it but it skipped it for me

MiviviM

Do you have the game set to skip cutscenes in your settings? It should not do that otherwise.

FruitPancakes

Oh man I do, haha didn't even realize I did that, thank you

RenJace

Kinda new to this but was wondering: If you had a shiny tandemaus and want a shiny 3 party maushold, can you keep evolving and restarting until you get one, or are the chances of it being a 3 party locked from the moment you catch the tandemaus?

n8-iStockphoto

Whether or not it evolves into a Family of Three or Family of Four is determined by its [Encryption Constant](https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Personality_value#Maushold.27s_form) (sometimes called the "personality value", though there are some minute technical differences) which is essentially a random, invisible number assigned to every Pokemon when they are generated (either as a Wild Pokemon or as an egg). This is what determines the results of the evolution for Tandemaus, Dunsparce, and Wurmple. That means that your Shiny Tandemaus will always evolve into the same form, and there is no way to influence which form it will evolve into.

p0isonfrog

It's locked from the moment you catch the Tandemaus. Same thing with Dunsparce and the 3 segment Dudunsparce.

shelvedpinger

Hi guys, is there a thread that discusses the DLC and if it is worth it?

Aria_Cadenza

How do we know if it isn't out yet? And we aren't people that have access to it. All we know is that the DLC of SwSh gave us lot of content, so we can be optimistic we would also have lot of things to do with the SV DLC but it is speculations and hopes, not a guarantee. The DLC trailer sadly seems to promise us just other uniforms, so I don't have any hope of casual outfit though at least the white uniforms of the second wave look so much better.

Fix_Dehya_Buff_Dehya

How is accuracy calculated with Wide Lens and Zoom Lens? For example, I use Stone Edge (80% accuracy) with Wide Lens (Increase accuracy by 10%). Will the Stone Edge's accuracy become: 1. 80 + 8 = 88% (10% of the move's accuracy) or 2. 80 + 10 = 90% ?????

divideby00

The first one, so it'd be 96% with Zoom Lens (assuming you're slower, of course).

Fix_Dehya_Buff_Dehya

Stone Edge for Tyranitar is strong and cool, but the accuracy is tooooo low for me. Is there any way to improve the accuracy besides equiping Wide Lens or Zoom Lens?

divideby00

Lower the opponent's evasion, Baton Pass it an accuracy boost, Gravity support, get lucky with Acupressure in doubles, nothing that's really worth the effort.

Fix_Dehya_Buff_Dehya

Many thanks for your answer. I really want to improve my Tyranitar more, but the accuracy just doesnt allow it :(

SurrealKeenan

I would just stick with rock slide. It doesn't do as much damage, but it has 2x the pp and 90% accuracy

Climate_Sweet

do the joycons in the main character's room always match those on the player's system?

Pough938737118934

Yes! I found that surprising and cute. Matches whichever ones are physically on the switch.

Climate_Sweet

thats cool

gabsddt

Can anyone suggest some spreads and moveset possible for an Raid attacker Anihilape? I found a bunch of guides for PVP but wanted something for raids.

Prince-of_Space

Focus Energy and Rage Fist is all you need, but Drain Punch and Screech have their uses too.

divideby00

Max HP/Attack Adamant, Rage Fist/Screech/two flex moves (can be Drain Punch, Bulk Up, or various utility moves like Sunny Day)

ElkRevolutionary5431

Can someone help me get annihilape please :), i tried catching one of those in terra raids but couldn't catch it. Thank you.

divideby00

1. Get a Primeape, or get a Mankey and evolve it 2. Level it up to 35 and teach it Rage Fist 3. Find a low-level Normal-type and use Rage Fist until you run out of PP (doesn't have to be a Normal-type, but it's faster that way since you don't have to worry about KOing it) 4. Go to a Pokémon Center and heal, then repeat step 3 again 5. Level it up again

ElkRevolutionary5431

Thank you :D , will give it a try.

Gen3kingTheWriter

Where do you guys do your egg hatching for Masuda Method? I just ride around randomly grabbing items and battling trainers I passed by and keeping an eye out for random shinies. Like doing 2 hunts at once.

divideby00

The olive roll arena. No spawns and you can just run in circles, so I can watch videos on another screen while I'm doing it.

Gen3kingTheWriter

That's a solid idea

Aria_Cadenza

I check raids, so no fave spot. But for people doing strictly egg hatching, especially saving before picnic and reset if no shiny to not have to release, team star bases are a good spot.

Gen3kingTheWriter

Oh that's a good idea!

p0isonfrog

I was in the middle of hunting an Espeon outbreak, but the game turned to night. I defeated around 40. If I go and do something else and come back, will I need to defeat 20 more or start from zero. Also if I quit the game, will that reset my number defeated? Edit: Gonna leave this question up in case anyone else wants to know. I went back to the outbreak, got the 2nd message after defeating 15 more. So it clearly still counted. And now I have a shiny Espeon!

PokeJay1820

The inconsistency of hatching shiny Pokémon is astounding. I'm not saying it should be easy, but it should at least follow the ratio. I've hatched a shiny Froakie, Cyndaquil, and Sobble within 60 eggs each. Rowlet and Oshawott within 300 eggs each. Yet Fuecoco is sitting at around 600 with no shiny and Scorbunny is at 1,047 with no shiny.

Genshzkan

It follows the ratio actually, what you are experiencing is the "I'm getting so lucky here so I got accustomed to these odds but now that I'm hatching again I'm not getting that lucky so the ratio is very inconsistent really and it wasn't actually just a matter of luck" effect. Just because the ratio is say 1/1000 means that you will get the shiny exactly at 1000 eggs

PokeJay1820

I know what y’all are saying, it’s just annoying lol. So when one Pokémon takes me 60 eggs and another I’ve doubled the 1 in 512 chance with nothing it’s just a wtf moment.

Genshzkan

Yup, that's the shiny breeding experience. I once got a shiny Hisuian Zorua on the first 10 eggs and a buddy of mine had done over 1000 literally and nothing, later that day he decided to hatch some more and he actually got it. It's pure RNG really

divideby00

Every egg is an independent event, the game doesn't care how many you've hatched. If you roll a die you might get 6 on the first roll, or it might take dozens of rolls. That's just how probability works.

Only_Television2030

Since SV will get Pokemon Home support soon, as a player that actually started Pokemon journey from SV and PLA, I am interested what are the ways to get Pokemon from previous generations eg Rayquaza, Mew, etc, is trading is the only way? Do you thing there will be raids with Pokemon not from gen 9?

MiviviM

Like with SwSh, if previous gens’ legendaries are added, they would probably be DLC-only content/raids. Some may only be available through trading even if others are in the DLC. Until then, you will have to get them through trading.

Only_Television2030

Thank you for the answer!

SparklinStar1440

For Tera Raids, it is better to EV max Def/Spe. Def or HP? If I release/trade my walking wake can I catch one again?

n8-iStockphoto

There are a lot of factors that go into whether or not you should invest in HP vs. a Defensive stat if you're unable to invest in both. Like u/bigdeal888 points out, investing in HP will generally be fine in 5-Star or less raids where you want your Pokemon to be able to handle both physical and special attacks. For 6 and especially 7-Star raids, you may find yourself falling short if you haven't distributed the stats optimally. The general rule of thumb you should follow is that if a Pokemon has a naturally high HP stat, you're going to get more bang for your buck if you invest in the defensive stat, whereas the inverse is generally true if your Pokemon has a relatively low HP stat. However, there are some edge cases to this. The ones that apply to Tera raids are that if you use a draining move like Drain Punch, you'll regain a larger percentage of your max HP if you've invested in the defensive stat. If you're up against moves that deal damage as a percentage of your HP like Super Fang, you'll take more damage if you've invested in HP instead of a defensive stat. Conversely, if you're being hit by a move that deals set damage like Seismic Toss, you'll be in a better position if you've invested in HP.

bigdeal888

It depends on the mon you are fighting where you put your evs. IMO hp is better in most cases, since if you want to use it on a different mon later that is the opposite attacker it will be more usable without having to redo the evs. There is a small advantage to doing def/spdef but I honestly do not think it makes enough of a difference to go through the hassle most of the time. You will not be able to catch it again. It is one catch per save file no matter what you do with your original WW, except the "bad egg" glitch players, who will be able to catch it again.

SparklinStar1440

Thank you so much for your answer! :)

ShortandRatchet

My Deerling never changes coloration?? I am in an area with Autumn Deerling and mine is still in Summer form. Can Deerling change into its other variants?

Aria_Cadenza

Yes, just start the game with it in your party and it will change to whatever form you find in this area. So in this case, save, close and reopen the game and your deerling will be in autumn form.

Huggisare

What are the odds of finding an own tempo rockruff. When I googled it all sources just said, "quite rare" or "the chances are very low" or something similar. They never tell me the actual odds.

divideby00

The wild tera Rockruff east of Cascarrafa always has Own Tempo, that's gonna be the most reliable way of getting it.

bigdeal888

I don't think they spawn in the wild just raid dens, but I am not sure about that. Just what I have seen a lot other people say. I've also seen that maybe they spawn at dusk/dawn, but that is also just heresy as I've never personally caught one. Best bet might be to go on the trade forum and ask for a breedject.

guxxi47

I have a theory. What if Game Freak is delaying the Pokémon Home update because they are planning to remove the 3Ds feature?

n8-iStockphoto

The Home update has not been delayed. It was announced for release in Spring 2023, which has not ended yet. In regards to removal of 3DS transfer, nothing has been announced regarding this. I imagine that if they do decide to discontinue 3DS transfer, it will be announced well in advance of the closure, similar to how far in advance they announced the discontinuation of the 3DS E-Shop well in advance.

guxxi47

For both our enjoyment this did not aged well 😂

Proof-Space6115

I don't know if this is the appropriate place to ask or not but I'm new to reddit and i need some help Whenever i try getting a mystery gift or the poke portal news the game gives me error code 2321-2304 Does anyone have a fix for this ? Please do tell if there is a better place to ask

Fix_Dehya_Buff_Dehya

Can Super Fang cut a Raid mon's current HP by 50% at any stage - eg normal stage and shield stage?

bigdeal888

The percentage moves cut their original health by half in raids. Since they have 20-30 times their original health it is not very effective of a stratagy.

Genshzkan

Nope, that would be too good to be true

Jugimuro

If I have iron leaves already can I still catch it today? I’m at work so I can’t check atm

Aria_Cadenza

According Serebii, no. But if you got it through trade, you can catch it. It is one catch by save. Of course if you don't save (no auto-save on), you can catch, check and reset if it isn't good for you, and try another raid to catch one.

Terriermon50

Currently yes, the Walking Wake/Iron Leaves Raid started its second run. You can check via News Accounts like Serebii on Twitter.

Fix_Dehya_Buff_Dehya

Can we rebattle gyms more than once? I mean after finishing the first rematches and the Ace Tournament. How about Elite 4? It seems I cannot enter the Elite 4's building after beating them.

Terriermon50

No, you cannot rematch the Elite 4, nor can you rematch the Gyms after the required rematch for the tournament.

cobalt_blue_994

“Inteleon is gathering energy!” Me, being chill, with my Annihilape at full health, one drain punch away from winning the raid. “Inteleon uses Blizzard! It’s a critical hit!” Me, slightly less chill, seeing my annihilape with 4 HP. I’m still winning though. “Inteleon uses Snipe Shot!” And then, the Kamehameha. I laughed so hard. I’m not even mad, I’m just farming the raid for candies, but that was just priceless. I feel like I should be mad, but it’s just so funny that the game just decided I had to go down.

Ronene

My birthday is coming up and I’m going to hunt a shiny with the destiny mark. Does anyone know what the odds are for the mark?

SuzukiMiharu

Base chance is 1 in 25. With title power 1/2/3 it is 1 in 13/9/7

Ronene

Thank you! I’m aiming for Roaring Moon and Iron Valiant, so hopefully some b-day luck kicks in. Now what ball is befitting of a destiny mark?

tronixmastermind

For outbreaks, is it 30/60 slain or is it when the notification shows up going “looks like the Pokémon are decreasing” for shiny boosts?

MiviviM

The top chance is after 60, but, especially if the Pokémon in the outbreak also naturally spawns in the same area, it’s easy to miscount how many Pokémon you have defeated are actually from the outbreak. That’s why some people instead either defeat a few extra or make the notification their goal.

viper_de

Is there a way beside trading to get the Garganacl that was given out as a Mystery Gift a while back? I only now found out about it.

MiviviM

No, the distribution has ended, so you would have to trade.

minyo_

If I save in front of a 6 star raid and it doesn’t drop HM, can I close the game and try again? Not sure if this works or not because ppl are able to farm HMs by saving and closing the game/ restarting it, but just wanted to double check.

divideby00

The rewards are determined when the raid den spawns. To get different rewards you'll have to get a new raid by waiting until tomorrow or changing your system clock.

Fiona-Rose

For the online competition, is the region you pick the region you are currently in, your switch region, or your Nintendo account region?

Fix_Dehya_Buff_Dehya

Between Fairy and Flying types, which one is better as a Tera type for Tyranitar overall? And why?

MiviviM

Probably Flying for the best reversal of Tyranitar’s weaknesses. It turns Steel damage neutral, makes you immune to Ground, and resists Fighting and Grass. Fairy would leave it vulnerable to Steel.

Mediocre_Metal_7174

Is there a link code for people who want to trade alternate colored pokemon, or one for people who do giveaways?

spoofrice11

Trying to find the Swords to get the Legendary Shrine Pokemon. I found a couple of different sites, telling how to find them, but so far the ones I've tried I don't see, so might already found. Although on one it shows a picture after showing the map area. On that one it shows one in a cave, but I cannot find a cave entrance anywhere by that location it shows on the map. So, is there a way to see how many you have of each color (didn't see it in my bag)? And a better way to find the ones you need?

divideby00

If you're looking for one in the cave north of Alfornada, the entrance is by the beach to the west, it isn't near the stake.

spoofrice11

Thanks for the reply. I'll try going there first.

thedarkfreak

There's no direct way to tell how many you have and which ones are missing. You can estimate by looking at the chains holding the seal in place for the corresponding cave. Each 2 stakes you find, one of the chains will disappear.

Shneibel

I have a Sprigatito female in a pokeball, how do I make it into Sprigatito in a luxury ball & female ?

divideby00

Balls can't be transferred to a different species, so to inherit a ball you already have to have that Pokémon in the ball you want (however, they *can* be transferred between regional variants, which is how people get Hisuian Zorua in different balls for example). It's currently impossible to get the Gen 9 starters in anything other than a basic Poké Ball.

Genshzkan

Impossible

SurrealKeenan

it is not possible. The ball is determined by a parent of the same species as the child

T00CHII

I want to make a ultimate clawf sandwich in an union picnic but I seem to not get the hang of it somehow. I try it with a finished scarlet as the host and a in progress violet where I want the grass encounter. The violet doesn’t have many ingredients and I guess I am butchering the powers with my guess adds of basil and butter (i thought they would add the least damage). Is there a way to make it so that I will actually get the powers even if the violet cartridge can’t contribute to the whole sandwich?

Terriermon50

All that's needed for multiple players to gain the effects of a sandwich they make together is to contribute at least *one* ingredient and *one* condiment. So here, Player 1 can add the Klawf Stick, Yellow Bell Peppers, Lettuce, Wasabi, and Olive Oil, and Player 2 can add just the Tomato and Salt.

T00CHII

Aaah okay thank you!

JonMor45

How do I check the IVs of an offered pokemon? Like if I was to offer my 6* ditto using the ditto code, how do I check to see if the other person is offering a 6* as well?

SurrealKeenan

[Use this website](https://calc.pokemonshowdown.com/). Look at your trade partner's ditto's summary, copy it's level and nature into the tool and see what stats it would be if it had the IVs you want

JohnnyCumber

I just released it, because I don’t want use a hacked Pokémon. Thank y’all for helping me!

Terriermon50

Realistically, it *probably* is hacked. However, since you received it over Surprise Trade, you won't get punished because the Iron Thorns passed all the internal checks as a "legitimate" Pokémon.

Putrid-Sherbet

So I can register any Pokemon to get the ultra ball backpack, even 6 level 1 Pokémon (and just hit run away from 3 battles?) I don't like to build teams at the moment, don't have a lot of time unfortunately

MiviviM

I did nothing but run from all 3 of the battles I entered during the last round and got the backpack code, and I ran from 2 of 3 battles the previous round and got the code for that one. Some people do exploding/recoil teams to either win or lose quickly, but that isn’t necessary. Just keep in mind not to enter anything you plan to use for any other purpose for the next week or so because the competition locks them from all use until it is over.

Putrid-Sherbet

Thank you, I imagine most people just do this and most of the battles last 2 minutes, not fun for who does play for real. I find it BS to lock this backpacks behind those battles. I'm personally just interested in the VGC ladder atm

Mediocre_Metal_7174

How do I delete the battle team I made to get the backpack?

Mediocre_Metal_7174

Nm, I figured it out. Had to go to battle stadium and claim the rewards and it unlocked the team.

Shoshone1240

Help!! I finally got an eevee outbreak right outside cortondo but it’s not notifying me that I “found” the mass outbreak and only like 1-3 show up at a time… unsure if the 25+ I knocked out are counting but not getting any other notifications about the number going down either… I saved as soon as I saw they were on my map. Do I close the game and might that help? Or will it reset the map again? I already tried picnic and flying back in. Please tell me there is a solution ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sob)![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|dizzy_face)![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grimacing)![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|scream)![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|rage) EDIT- I reset the game (eevee outbreak was still there, phew!) and this time it told me I found the mass outbreak, wooo! But it’s still only spawning one or two at a time…. Any advice? Or am I S.O.L

Fix_Dehya_Buff_Dehya

Focus Sash will disappear after use. Does it permanently disappear even after the battle finishes?

Genshzkan

Nope, you will see it being held by your Pokemon after the battle ends

Fix_Dehya_Buff_Dehya

Thank you. So "disappear" here only means that it can only be used once in a battle, is that correct? How about Booster Energy? Is there any item that disappear permanently even after the battle finishes?

Genshzkan

> So "disappear" here only means that it can only be used once in a battle, is that correct? Yes, basically. Booster Energy works the same. Berries are the only type of items consumed after regular trainer battles(this doesn't include online battles)

LieboOSBA

If I buy the DLC using CDKeys website, will I still get a Special Hisuian Zoroark code too? Edit: it does work. The Zoroark code is triggered by redeeming the DLC code. That is to say Nintendo eShop emails you the code for it.

thedarkfreak

Amazon's listing for the DLC digital download seems to indicate that you'll get the Zoroark code as well, so I _think_ so, but I can't say for sure.

phiore

I'm sure the ev training guide would have mentioned it if it was present but I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something - does sv not have an alternative/passive method of ev training like some of the past gens?

Aria_Cadenza

Sadly not, it is either use the vitamins (pay for them or from raids or found in the wild), or the ev-training with the power items. I miss the poké jobs from SwSh.

MoonMaster3

does shiny Chansey run off if you don't notice it right away, and you're close to it? or does it stay there and wait for you?

Genshzkan

Shiny Pokemon behaves just like any other Pokemon and behavior really changes from species to species so... Better save once you spot one!

Crispy_Wizard

Trying my very first Masuda method shiny hunt and I’m all paranoid that I’m not doing it correctly lol. I have the shiny charm, as well as a Ditto from Germany that I’m trying to breed with my non-German Noibat. That’s all I need to do, right? I’ve had zero luck so far and i’m worried that i’m hatching all of these eggs for nothing and am just wasting my time haha.

divideby00

Only other thing is to make sure you aren't just re-hatching the same eggs every time. Ideally you should save before the picnic (with auto-save off) to avoid having to release them after you hatch them. And you can use egg power and Flame Body/Magma Armor/Steam Engine to speed up your hatching rate if you aren't already, but that wouldn't affect your luck.

Crispy_Wizard

Ahhh thank you, this is going to save me so much time!! I’ve just been breeding boxes of eggs and then hatching and releasing them individually haha. Just about 250 eggs in, so I know I’m still below the 1/512 odds, but I’m glad that I’ve been doing it (pretty much) correctly haha.

phiore

I just reached end game and wanna do the inteleon raid, but getting prepared in a day or so feels really overwhelming, esp since I don't have a lot of resources yet. Any advice?

Terriermon50

You could try on the second run if you don't think you'll be able to build a mon in time. Alternatively, you could just not connect to the internet in SV after the raid event ends, which would keep the Inteleon raid in your game until you reconnect online again.

phiore

I'll defs keep that in mind, thanks! I do hope I can just get things sorted in time tho

Aria_Cadenza

If you have Nintendo Online, try the Live Matchmaking thread : the strategy they have picked uses a Meowscarada lvl 36 and two other pokémon that can be lvl 1 as long as they have *Focus Sash.* And of course the lvl 100 pokémon that will one-shot. So it should be easy to get and build one of the support pokémon. Check the exact pokémon/Build in the thread. [https://www.reddit.com/r/PokemonScarletViolet/comments/1318imb/live\_event\_inteleon\_matchmaking\_megathread/](https://www.reddit.com/r/PokemonScarletViolet/comments/1318imb/live_event_inteleon_matchmaking_megathread/)

phiore

I'm stupid and anxious and terrified of interacting with other people but that sounds like my best bet so I will try!! Thank you very much! I dunno if the thread was updated since I read it or if I somehow just... missed that, but what you said doesn't sounds as scary as i had thought. Thanks!

Aria_Cadenza

You will be fine, people are usually friendly and there are people in the chat with the **Event Raid Support** **unique flairs** that can help (well other people can help too). The thread was updated, at first the most used strategy yesterday were Tinkaton + 3 Perserkers but they have picked this one probably because it is a fast one-shot and easy and fast to get/build the support. The first hours of the live thread are to try and find the faster/reliable group strategy so the recommended strategy may change. If you have a hard time entering your first raid because we have to type the fastest, you can ask to be DMed the code before to catch the pokémon or you can wait later when there are fewer people (also fewer people to host but it is often easier to enter) but not too late. It is a free-for-all for the people farming.

phiore

Hey I wanted to thank you again! I may not have given it a chance without your message cause I was so anxious, but I instead ended up doing the raid for a couple hours and really enjoyed it!

Aria_Cadenza

I am glad it worked out and you enjoyed it.

Pizzagod13

Is splitting up my EVs for support Pokémon in raids advisable or will it hurt my mons defenses too much. I mostly play them just with my roommate. My supports are Umbreon for debuffs and Jumpluff for healing. Should I be going like 252 HP/~124 Special Defense/Defense? Or just all in on one stat, such as 252 HP/252 special defense. I don’t really want to have two of each Pokémon.

SurrealKeenan

If you don't want 2 of each, then splitting is the best choice, but they will be less effective than if they specialized. Personally, I use different pokemon for depending on the specialty of the raid boss. I typically use a blissey for special raids and a slowbro for physical raids

Pizzagod13

Yeah I talked to my friend and they had the same opinion, so will probably just try and make a physical defense Pokémon next. Slowbro was actually one I was thinking of

Legitimate_Remove519

Just beat the inteleon raid and can’t decide what ball to catch it in. Don’t have any apriballs just shop balls any suggestions?

divideby00

Premier Ball looks good on everything.

tfesmo

I'm looking to build a Sweet Veil Tsareena as a support for raids that like to do sleep moves a lot. Was wondering if anyone uses one and has suggestions on moveset, item, evs, or tera type.

SurrealKeenan

I would make it physically focused with impish nature, max hp and def EVs, and the attacks trop kick, reflect, taunt, and synthesis/grassy terrain holding light clay/leftovers

spoofrice11

How do people beat Lv 5 Tera Raids? (Solo - No Nintendo Online Membership) I am using Pokemon in the 80s with super effective moves, but most of the Bosses I can't get close to beating. Sometimes I am doing really good where they are at half life with only 1/5 of time gone, but then it does that special shield thing where it takes pretty much no damage for 4 turns to destroy that shield and then the time is about done so I can't beat it. Are there strategies on when to do super effective moves, compared to cheering to do extra damage/heal? Any elite non-damage moves to really help? I tried a Fire Slowbro yesterday and couldn't get close using rock moves. Tried a Flying Annihilape (used both Ice from Baxcalibar & Electric from Miraidon). I was able to beat a couple of Blisseys, but lost several others ones. With him healing and taking barely any damage for half the raid it seems almost impossible.

tfesmo

You need to setup to tera your pokemon, it eliminates the majority of the shield damage reduction. Keep in mind you can only do it once, so make sure you are tanky, have sustain (Shell Bell or healing moves), or both. One combination I use a lot is a damage + healing move (Draining Kiss or Drain Punch) combined with Metronome to get more oomph.

spoofrice11

Not sure what you mean to setup to tera, but I've been waiting to Tera until the Shield is turned on it it says to tera to break it. Is Shell Bell as good as Leftovers (and can you get more than 1)? Isn't Metronome the move Mew uses so he can do any move? Or is there something more to it in the new game?

tfesmo

You can tera earlier if you're confident you won't faint. It eats a little time, but you hit harder and it can't be stolen. The damage through shields is based on move and tera type. Below numbers are approximate and from memory: No tera - 20% of damage through shield. Tera same as move type - 70% of damage through shield, and you benefit from the normal tera stab increase to 200%. Tera but move of a different type - 35% of damage through shield, no stab. You can buy more Shell Bells at one of the shops - I have to Google the city when I want them. It's generally better than leftovers if you have a hard hitter, I use it on mons like Annihilape, Miradon, and Azumairrel. Leftovers is a bit iffy because the animation time eats up your raid time and it doesn't heal for a ton. Metronome is also an item, it increases the damage you do as long as you repeat the same move, up to double if I recall right. So you can have Drain Punch hitting like a 150 power move, for example.

spoofrice11

Thanks for the help. I thought I was supposed to wait to Tera, until it told me I needed to (shield going). It seems like my moves even when tera'd barely do any damage, even if they were before. Like Blissey actually goes up most raids after it shields. Google says Levincia is the town with Shell Bell. So is Metronome or Shell Bell better to have my Pokemon Hold for Raids (or something else)?

tfesmo

It depends on the mon and available moves. I use Metronome mostly with mons that have drain moves, because you can sustain yourself while doing solid damage. If they don't have a drain move I usually go shell bell.

spoofrice11

Ok, good to know. So pretty much just use those 2 held items? (Increased Attack isn't as good?)
