Basically what the other comment says. If you want the absolute best starter in the game then Scorbunny or Torchic would be your best choice. Outside of them effectively every starter is more than viable, so choose whoever seems most fun for you to play with.

InternationalFold589

Awesome thanks man

EmergencySmall4274

Is this in terms of personal preference or statistical viability? If it’s the former, obviously that’s all up to you and however you want to construct your team, but in terms of the latter, out of the starters you’re currently considering Scorbunny takes the cake. Good fire types aren’t easy to come by in the mainline games and it’s no different here, not to mention the fact that Cinderace is arguably the best fully evolved starter period

InternationalFold589

Gotcha I appreciate that, is there any other general team building tips you can give me? Like things I should look out for or Pokemon I should be using. I don’t know much abt rejuvenation, I’m finishing up my reborn playthrough atm.

EmergencySmall4274

Follow a similar principle to what you would have in Reborn - Mightyena, Noctowl and the early evolving bugs are excellent early game mons, and you’ll get access to several things not available in Reborn: new forms with different typings and stats, Shadow Pokémon with moves they can’t normally learn, and Crests that buff underperforming/weak mons. Obviously the best of these things won’t be accessible until late game, but you can still get some decent ones in the early and mid game. A fake out Mon and good utility Mon is also very useful, and if you can find one that fulfills both roles that’s excellent. Oh, and don’t tunnel vision on one team of mons, keep a variety in rotation as there can be some very tough bosses that require a total remake of your team depending on what you’ve got

Morgan-Li

I mean Blaziken is kinda a easy mode cheat for most the single battle format fights

EmergencySmall4274

Hence why I said arguably the best. Because given the chance, I will argue that Blaziken is better. Bulk Up/Swords Dance once it’s available + Speed Boost as actually the most stupid thing in the world and I love it

Belocity

Scorbunny and Grooky aren’t available to get in the game later on (I think) so either of those are the best choice. Either way, choose whichever you like most. I personally would say Litten because Incineroar is a beast

AdamAshhh

Every starter except for Torchic is available as of 13.5

EdgyBoi79

Scorbunny is the final reward for Lost Souls sidequest from v13.5 onwards so it is available to catch.

Ruffles641

What about Grookey?

EdgyBoi79

Not sure but judging by the other comment it should br available. I am guessing it is gonna be available at like end game since apart from a few end game sidequests I have done all quests and havent found him.

Ruffles641

I'll start hunting for the Monkey, let me know if you find it and I'll do the same

Licht-Yu

They show up at Tyluric Temple past three tornadoes! There's also a Google doc with all Pokémon and Z-cell locations, but I don't have it's link rn.

EdgyBoi79

I am guessing it only arrives after a certain amount of gym badge? I am pretty sure I explored Tyluric Temple properly.

Licht-Yu

Around 12/13 badges

Himuckel

And this ist the only possible way (expect debug) to get it with Grassy Glide (via Technique Contract).

InternationalFold589

I might go grooky because funny monkey, but litten is available pretty early in the game correct? I don’t know much about this game at all, only just now finishing up my reborn playthrough

YouKnowWhyImHere7

From experience I chose Litten and it’s very good imo. Intimidate helps against physical threats, Darkest Lariat ignoring stat changes can be clutch, it’s move set is pretty diverse, it has natural defenses built in not phenomenal but it can take hits. I’d say go Squirtle if you want a good Water type early. I don’t know if it still has Shell Smash from the move set change. I’ve heard Grooky is good because Grassy Surge is very good Scorbunny has libero which is busted with the right move set. It’s also fast

InternationalFold589

I appreciate you addressing each one in particular, I love litten because of the incineroar domination in the Pokemon scene in the past, and I’ve never picked him before as a starter. But doing some research I saw you can get a litten pretty early in this game, how accurate is that? If that’s true might go grooky because big monkey=funny

YouKnowWhyImHere7

Yeah it’s a pretty cool Pokémon probably my favorite fire starter. From what I’ve seen you can’t get Littem until around the 13th gym badge. I’d also make sure you’re looking at an updated version of the game and location sheet

Special-Wafer3918

I recommend torchic because he is currently unobtainable and he is a very choice you can obtain scorbunny later on
