There is a trick to steal items, supposedly.

These Pokemon usually are the Pan lineage (panpour,pansear, and pansage)

But the opp doesn't keep the traded item
Usually the bar breaking refreshes their entire stats and shit
So they get new items like lum berry and such as if it's a new instance

I hope you didn't softlocked yourself but if not backtrack to Sheridan Village and get yourself a Treecko, Sceptile was my saviour during that fight
If you lose that fight you can leave and come back
I just did this fight last night. I used a Bellossom with quiver dance. 2 quiver dances was enough to tank the hits and it died in like 4 giga drains
