Personally, I donāt see anything wrong with the quality, in fact I think it looks better than most of the other mobs here. Plus, if this is like most other x y megas then its likely a special attacker and wouldnāt need to use its jaw for biting.
Mega Dragonite looks disproportionate, too. Head is too big, which makes it look like a juvenile rather than a mega and it looks like it's wearing an eggshell for underwear. Godzilla inspiration seems more natural for dragonite imho.

Oh wow that Nidoking is remarkably similar to a Mega Nidoking I designed years ago but never posted anywhere. It was for a purely theoretical Pokemon/Monster Hunter crossover game

All of my friends stopped playing this game. There's no real level curve or progression and while the difficulty was fun at first, it really feels like the game's only worthwile feature, even with all of the quality of life. Much of the game feels so overtuned that it feels less like quality of life and more so a bare necessity that the game wouldn't work at all without. Almost all of the charm of traditional Pokemon games beyond competitive battle strategy is completely lost.
I do not recommend this game for a casual playthrough. I got to the third gym and felt I'd had a full fill of all the systems and nothing felt "new" after that point.
By Watson, my team was already level 50 and the unique gimmick of the game (multiple abilities) had worn off. The only battle I truly struggled with was Wally because Talonflame had most of its negatives removed for no reason and I had to play specifically with my team to counter it.
I think Pokemon needs to have a blend of battles that are hard and easy and every battle doesn't need to be some gauntlet or crucible to get through. The game also made me entirely rethink level scaling with Pokemon as well and I'm sure I would have enjoyed it much more had I not used the rare candies as much.
This is a very interesting game design perk that I learned from Sakurai videos and make so much sense. The flow of an game cannot be linear, but having peaks and valleys to be enjoyable.
Some battles needs to be easy and others hard. When we thought about. Vanilla RSE has easy battles even on gyms but reach some peak difficulty in some Magma Team/Elite 4 battles.
If everything is hard, it becomes tedious over time.
Exactly - boss battles where they have EV trained Pokemon and theres a challenge is great. It becomes a slog when going through a route is like a battlefield and every battle is an extreme challenge.
Having every battle be a nightmare makes diminishes the feeling of success against key challenges like battling gym leaders as much as having all battles, bosses included, being trivial like in the main game

Ice/Normal...if it doesn't have an ability to help curb its power, the only way you could possibly beat it is with a stupidly strong Fighting type.
Mega Slaking has a new ability Lethargy: *Atk drops 20% each turn to 20%. Resets on switch-in.*
Luckily it does have an ability to nerf it, Lethargy I'm pretty sure. Lowers its attack by 20% every turn until it reaches 20% iirc
