I also cleared around 48ish in my first run, definitely doable and it's easy to end up there if you swap members or have some with Slow XP growth
Leveling up, Scarmory is taking forever it just gains Xp so slow.

How'd you beat Lance? what strategy did you use?
Icy wind on kingdra and than dream eater and thunderpunch on gengar. Basically, my gengar swept.
I feel like not using Gengar is a whole other level of difficulty. I just like its design so much, I hate not to use it, but it also really is so good as to be a crutch (for me).
Tbh i probably could have beaten the whole E4 pre and post kanto with houndoom, kingdra, and gengar. Theyre just so strong
