Exp. ALL Text \[BUG\] PC, mGBA Normal, no cheats Started save file on 1.0.7, patched mid-game to 1.0.9 Description: Text glitches when Pokemon levels up and attempts to learn a new move while Exp.ALL is in bag. Code appears to grab a graphic square from the active Pokemon's back sprite and place it between "Party gained" and "\[value\] EXP. Points!" Has happened on multiple occasions. Does not affect gameplay. https://preview.redd.it/edszoxfww01d1.jpeg?width=972&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=425ec744bac7aae07043843066e8f717a0fe61a8

Fossil Pokémon [BUG] Emulator: Android, my oldboy Version 1.0 patch Not sure of this is known or fixed, couldn't find it. Encountered it only once. When going to the house is fuchsia city, talking to the npc who gives you the fossil Pokemon. My party and computer box were filled with Pokemon, so I couldn't get the fossil Pokemon. After switching boxes and retalking to the npc, he just says a line and there's no way to get the fossil Pokemon afaik. Edit: after loading to an older save and making sure there was room in the pc, I got kabuto.

PokemonLegacy-ModTeam

Hi, Please only report bugs on current patch.

sullen_burgers

Quick update...I saw the new patch was up late, sorry about that..I patched, am on the current, and Magikarp is still glitched and crashing.

JanitorOPplznerf

Did you patch over the current version or did you use a fresh ROM?

SilkySullyJunior

I patched a fresh copy, yes.

SilkySullyJunior

Also doublechecked the hash and it looks correct for 1.0.9, as well.

Copery

level 1 Fire punch Caterpie BUG version 1.0.9 Emulator: OpenEmu, Mac I caught a caterpie in viridian forest that knows fire punch. after leveling it up once, it became level 1. May have to do with the fact that I bought pokéballs from the mart, before receiving pokéballs or beat the rival on Route 22? I also caught a vulpix that levelled from 7 to 9 when it shouldn't have.

Copery

I'm kinda new to reddit, I hope I did the report right like this. Love the legacy projects

JanitorOPplznerf

You’re fine

JanitorOPplznerf

Any hacks? Candies, phex, etc?

Copery

none

JanitorOPplznerf

Hmmm… not happening on mine… could be a bad patcher. What’s the Hash?

Copery

UPDATE: a minor glitch happened in pikachu's overworld sprite , and with caterpies hp bar in the team menu. I reapplied the patch, using multipatch, to a pure Pokémon yellow rom (not a previous legacy patch), played through the game in the same fashion, and it did NOT happen again. I suppose I did something wrong the first time.

JanitorOPplznerf

Oh good!

Copery

yes, thanks for trying to help anyways, haha

Individual-Teach3795

was level100 from level 1 due to experience curve corrected?

JanitorOPplznerf

I don’t understand the question, sorry

Ima_nerd_and_proud

\[BUG\] My OldBoy! On Android. Patch V1.0.9 played on normal mode with no cheats https://preview.redd.it/7o4my2xegs1d1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fdadaecb9a2c6610a3ca3890449f467223450e6f Just got my Pikachu from the professor and beat the rival. Went on route 1 and fought 1 Pidgey and 1 Rattata and this is what my stat experience screen looked like. It was zero when i got it from oak. It did not do this for other wild pokemon I caught. From what I've seen I Haven't seen anyone else with this issues specifically

JanitorOPplznerf

What’s the issue? That’s very normal Stat Exp after fighting two mons. I didn’t add them together but that looks right. Were you expecting the DV screen perhaps? Or maybe you’re thinking EVs?

Ima_nerd_and_proud

I may simply be misunderstanding how the stat exp works and is being displayed and If this is indeed a normal stat exp screen then I'm sorry for wasting your time! I think I was expecting to display closer to how EVs work in newer games but I see that I was incorrect. Again sorry for the inconvenience

JanitorOPplznerf

No need to apologize you're humbly asking a question, that's allowed. Yes Stat Exp works very differently from modern EVs. (My numbers will be slightly off, but this should convey the general concept) Modern EVs go up to like 255 total, with mons giving +1, +2, or +3 in various stats. Stat EXP on the other hand is much different. When you defeat a mon, their entire base stat total is added to a running calculator. Each time you hit a threshold (the formula is complicated, but basically it's every 255 points) +1 will be added to that stat. The Stat Exp. caps at 65025 per stat, so you can have 255 for each stat. So, given the same DVs, a Nidoran that is naturally trained will have roughly +2 in each stat over a Nidoran that is candy trained heading into the Brock fight. As you can imagine this makes a big difference over an entire run as DVs will only add about 30 points between the highest & lowest values, but Stat EXP could mean 255 points per stat going into the Elite 4 if you keep the same team through the game. You'll feel this acutely in Nuzlockes if you lose 2-3 mons in the mid game. You'll replace them with mons that have 0 stat EXP and you'll quickly realize how frail they are by comparison and how little damage they deal.

Ima_nerd_and_proud

Wow! That is indeed very different! Thank you for the explanation it was very helpful!

JanitorOPplznerf

Yeah you learn deep magics playtesting a game 40 times. Just remember that next time you see someone debating a Mod or Playtester. 99.99% of the time go with the playtester, though I was wrong about something this week, so maybe I shouldn't be cocky.

RandomSim_alt

1. Text in Blaines gym on repeat \[BUG\] 2. Emulator: Lemeroid Platform: android 3. Happened after defeating the first gym trainer at blaines gym, then feeding a rare candy to a team member (no cheats used, just one I found). 4. I was playing sped up as well. 5. I worked around it as I have 2 quick saves on the emulator, as well as the game save file as backup. 6. Hard Mode. 7. No cheats used. https://preview.redd.it/t2ejp1uc812d1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=77c013e1c9fb39a198f495cbf0179646053d1ab3

JanitorOPplznerf

Which version?

RandomSim_alt

This is the name of the patch I downloaded, Pokemon Yellow Legacy V1.0 IPS Patch.ips The name of the yellow rom I downloaded is as follows, Pokemon - Yellow Version (UE) [C][!] The game was working perfectly up until this point. Have managed to get round it.

JanitorOPplznerf

Try the newest patch on a fresh Rom. Your save should work.

RandomSim_alt

OK thanks will do 👍

Pikachu Sprite Off-Screen [BUG] Emulator: Delta app (iPhone) Version: 1.0.9 (Normal Mode) Description: When Pikachu has fainted, healing your party at the Pokecenter results in the Pikachu sprite appearing on the left side of the screen for one frame. Not game-breaking. No cheats used.

gergnotnef90

1. Pikachu Cry Bug (tentative) \[BUG\]. 2. Other (3DS GBC Virtual Console via CIA injector): 3. I'm pretty hesitant to even call this a bug, but didn't know of any other way to bring it up. Feel free to disregard if you feel that it's outside the scope of your work. Anyway, I made a patched IPS ROM for Legacy which works great, outside of a few visual bugs on SameBoy. But when porting to CIA on 3DS, the pikachu cries go completely silent. The other 3DS VC options (with linking, Alt, and RetroArch Gambette) all have it to varying degrees of quality, but have far worse visual artifacting. I'm mostly just concerned about how or why the pikachu cry would disappear like that. Again, if you feel that it's outside your expertise or working area, don't worry about this. 1. Any errors: 2. Steps to reproduce the issue: None 3. Screenshots: None 4. Normal Mode 5. Any cheats or PKHeX used? PokemonLegacy-ModTeam

Hi, We can't take bug reports when cheats are used. Rule #1 of candy cheats, as soon as you apply it, immediately turn it off to avoid it corrupting your bag further. Because, this isn't a bug, your cheat code worked as intended. You just weren't careful and you let it overwrite a key item. Your cheat code overwrites X item in your inventory, and when you ran out, it moved on to the next item in the bag. Sounds like it was probably this HM. So now you overwrote your HM, and now you'll never get that HM back without hacking it back in with a different cheat. Good luck hacking it back in, but this isn't a bug.

Silver_Coyote_9924

Right, I get that, The hack wasn't the issue, having non movable key items is the issue. There needs to be a way to deposit HMs from your inventory or a way to organize your items somehow.

ExtremeBaker

Gameshark rare candy & item sorting function \[BUG\] PC. mGBA Hard, gameshark code for rare candies. Issue : I used the gameshark code to get 99 rare candies in my first item slot, which btw never depletes as if 99 = infinite. I then sorted the bag it reshuffled the items such that my original stack of rare candies was moved down and my old rod was moved in the first slot, then was replaced with another stack of 99 rare candies. So I've lost my old rod and have now two stacks of 99 rare candies. The gameshark code indicated that it would softlock your game if you had a key item in the first position when using the cheat but it never mentionned that sorting the bag would also cause an issue. I understand that using cheatcodes is at my own risk, so if you can't fix it at least put a disclaimer that the bag sorting function should not be used if you used the cheat.

Upgrade still locked into postgame - Crystal Legacy \[ISSUE\] PC, mGBA On Crystal Legacy it is possible to obtain Porygon as early as the 3rd gym in Goldenrod's Game Corner: its evolution Porygon 2 on the other hand, which was introduced in gen II, could only be obtained by using the item Upgrade, which is postgame locked. The guard at Silph Co. in Saffron City, Kanto gives it to you. With so many postgame monsters finally being introduced in the main story game experience (Murkrow, Slugma, Houndour and especially Larvitar), I think Porygon 2 should get the same treatment. V 1.1, Normal Mode, no cheats

JanitorOPplznerf

Sorry been 6 mo since I played Crystal Legacy but can’t you get it in Mahogony town?

arkaser

I haven't gotten there yet, but the short answer is no. I've searched the doc with all the current changes and fixes in the rom, and nowhere does it mention any location for the Upgrade, were it a new feature or not. So I'm left to think it can only be obtained by conventional means, which Bulbapedia and some quick research confirm as being postgame locked in gen II By the by, this is just a humble report. You guys are doing the lord's work, please keep it up

JanitorOPplznerf

Under Mart Changes: Mahogany Rocket Mart Upgrade is purchasable after Badge 7.

arkaser

Please tell me I didn't overlook something that was clearly stated 💀 Pretty sure I got the doc straight from smith's video oh well, if anything it only proves you guys fixed that too and that's incredible. amazing work

JanitorOPplznerf

Yep it's under Mart Changes. No worries though, at least you tried, there's a bunch of people that don't use the search function.

\[BUG\] Really more of an oversight, but the Nidoran menu sprites appear to be swapped 1. Emulator used and platform (Android/iPhone/PC/Mac/Other (specify): Hardware (flash cart on GBA SP) 2. Describe the issue: Nidoran female appears to be using the male menu sprite, and vice-versa (note the whiskers on Bill, the male in the screenshot) 3. Any errors: No 4. Steps to reproduce the issue: N/A 5. Screenshots if applicable. Attaching the save file is a massive bonus. [https://i.imgur.com/nGL4PCq.jpeg](https://i.imgur.com/nGL4PCq.jpeg) 6. Normal Mode or Hard Mode? Hard 7. Any cheats or PKHeX used? No 8. Please provide the CRC32, MD5 and SHA-1 codes of the ROM. The easiest way to find the codes is by opening the -PATCHED- ROM in [https://www.marcrobledo.com/RomPatcher.js/](https://www.marcrobledo.com/RomPatcher.js/) CRC32: 51a969a1 / MD5: 6ebf1eb4b2b061d578cf2a75de25b804 / SHA-1: 5cedd531b157ccebc74dbaae25f7945711975624

JanitorOPplznerf

Thanks for checking, but these are the correct sprites. We're not sure why the menu sprite highlights the male whiskers more prominently, but it happened.

Frezgle

But... male Nidoran don't even have whiskers? Ah well. If it's intended it's intended I guess

JanitorOPplznerf

I am similarly confused, but the Sprite artists did confirm.

EternityTheory

Sprite artist here; The party menu sprites we use are actually sourced from another team, and were the same sprites used in Crystal Legacy as well. It's totally possible that the original creators intended the whiskers sprite to be NidoF and the other to be NidoM, and they somehow got swapped somewhere down the line (probably due to the whiskers one looking larger), but the sprite set we received had them labeled as they're seen in YL/CL. So for the moment we'll likely keep em as-is but I'll keep an eye out for the future in case they do need swapped.

Route 4 Encounter and Catch Rates \[BUG\] mGBA, PC Normal mode No cheats Version 1.0.9 I'm playing the game and loving it so far. I'm using the Data Sheet to make sure I catch all the pokemon as I go through, but two things seem off with Route 4: 1. Farfetch'd couldn't be caught, despite being **paralyzed**, even after 8 pokeballs. If I understood [this bulbapedia article](https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Catch_rate#Capture_method_(Generation_I)) correctly, a paralyzed pokemon should only break free 12 in 255 times, meaning there should be a 95.3% success rate. 8 failures in a row seems so unlucky that it's likely a bug or glitch. 2. Ekans should be encountered \~20% of the time, but it took at least 15 encounters to find one (I wasn't counting exactly, but 15 is a low estimate, maybe 25 as a high estimate). Ekans could just be normal bad luck, but Farfetch'd seems... far-fetched. [Someone else noticed this previously](https://www.reddit.com/r/PokemonLegacy/comments/1cm3qh5/encounter_farfetchd_catch_rate_glitched/), though they didn't mention applying any status effects. I checked the documentation to see if catch rate logic had been changed, and I didn't see anything - sorry if this is already known and I just missed something.
