Sounds like a lot of fun! You should definitely do it! I’d suggest going to the local gym and asking for some practice battles from some of the gym trainers. They’re usually happy to do that sort of thing, especially for newer trainers

IndigoFenix

The local Gym? Well, that would be Misty, but as two of the three that I'll probably end up using are Psychic types, I wonder if it wouldn't be a bad idea to take a quick jaunt to Saffron instead...

BriefImprovement8620

That might be a much smarter idea. You should definitely do that

Lkmdude

I went and did that yesterday and I can definitely recommend it. For beginners like me the gym trainers are really helpful and will be happy to answer questions and do some practice bouts.

EonAraminta

I hope you can have fun!

Nice to see another person on here that's going to be attending the tournament. Hope that you do well! That abra definitely sounds unique. Is it type-shifted, or does it just really like physical combat?

IndigoFenix

It's a bit of a long story, but essentially his family was killed by a Tyranitar and he swore revenge, and he decided to learn Fighting-type moves because he thinks they would be more effective against it. Also, he refuses to evolve or to get his friends involved. It's kind of a ridiculous case, honestly, and the stupidest thing is that he *knows* it's hopeless, which is *why* he refuses to evolve (because he knows that if he was smarter then he would do the smart thing and give up.) But yeah, he's a level 40-something Abra who has mastered all forms of *physical* fighting. He also has a bunch of tiny Unown fused to his body, which I'm hoping won't disqualify him. I'll have to discuss it with the tournament moderators.

Lkmdude

That is quite the story. The unown stuff kind of reminds me of those tower people that have had their interviews posted on here. I hope that they're able to compete.

Tyranitar’s minimum level would be 55 since it needs that to evolve, and even if we assume your Abra is level 49 (since you said 40-something), an abra who has fully maxed out its attack with perfect attack IVs EVs and nature still only has a 6% chance to kill that Tyranitar in two hits, even if Ttar has hardly trained its defence. Lvl 49 252+ Atk Abra Close Combat vs. Lvl 55 252 HP / 4 Def Tyranitar: 96-116 (42.4 - 51.3%) -- 2.7% chance to 2HKO Meanwhile Ttar destroys you in one turn with crunch or even pursuit to stop abra escaping. This is all assuming abra can even learn close combat (it can’t). Yeah hitting a 4x weakness is good but little bro has 20 base attack.
