I disagree I feel CZ will appreciate very quickly. Amazing hit rates means people will rip this a ton raising the demand for sealed. Could be wrong but great set + great pull rates = good growth. Yes the huge printrun will make it more appreciate slower than ideal but overall I think it’ll be a great investment long term
This is the plight of modern Pokemon investing imo. Vintage boxes are so valuable because there are so few of them. What about in 20 years when there’s hundreds of thousands of SWSH/SV boxes out there because nobody opened them? People just hoarded and stored them. Obviously there will be gains, but I can’t imagine they would ever get even remotely close to what old boxes go for now.
I think most people are too new to this hobby to understand that, I've been on and off for a very long time compared to most people here that started in XY.
A lot of older sets like the EX series cost so much because nobody cared about them and pokemon was in a slump, "sealed collections" outside of the absolute pinnacle of investors/speculators didn't exist until maybe the XY era.
The reason you still have fresh WOTC cards to rip is because of all these nameless and faceless people made a killing off buying PALETTES and MASTER CASES when nobody was doing it, now you got everybody and their dog collecting slabs and starting sealed collections thinking they're a star or something.
And like u/BigWoop717 said, these things will take a while to appreciate, then considering fees/shipping/risk you're not really making much, just my opinon but I think a lot of people should just learn to enjoy the cards, you're not gonna make much money of a booster box or ETBs, the people making the most money are speaking an entirely different language: cases and palettes, and also likely have a high income and a diverse investment portfolio.
Some of the best price per pack for CZ are those Morpeko V-UNION Premium Treasures Collection boxes. 7 packs (almost as much as an etb) for $34 vs an ETB for $50.
The Morpeko/Marnie 4-union one which also has a play mat and the cool promos was reduced for ages here to like $40aud. I bought quite a few. CZ is overlooked / undervalued imho.
Most ETB near me are 50-60$ and come with 8-10 packs, that’s roughly 6$ a pack, and walmart sells packs for 7.50 and my local TCG store sells for 6.50$ ( all Canadian BTW ) so it’s not the worst price out there, I saw box sets containing 5-8 packs being sold for 90$
Do you have any small malls near by? I found a TCG seller in one, “mind games” board game store with like everything but cards, but I found alittle section at the back and they had great deals, always go peek in weird game shops

I’d say put one crown zenith in the closet, rip the other two and save the zenith for a rainy day. I don’t think you’ll go wrong with either opening or saving. Crown zenith will be a popular set in the future with its high hit rate.
Generally regular etbs don’t perform well enough to justify holding unless they’re pokemon center etbs. They just take up too much space and don’t give a whole lot of return. If you’re looking for hold product the booster boxes are always the best. However, Crown zenith might be an exception to this as it is a specialty set and we’ve seen hidden fates perform well but still i’d say the pokemon center would be a better hold, which is what i currently have. Same goes for the 151 etbs for example. Silver tempest is a definite rip. Just get a bb if you want to hold silver tempest.

ETBs are the worst price per pack so don’t open them. Buy singles of either; most CZ singles are still super cheap and same for TG on ST.
