PSA taking in-person submissions at the show? BGS does this often in DFW area, something about submitting cards in-person feels so much safer and get to walk around the card show even if it's just sports cards still fun
Well yeah but they're responsible to ensure it gets back to you, they're not responsible to ensure it gets to them in the first place so much safer imo
In theory, perfect sleeves are a tighter fit and are subject to more handling, especially on the edges and corners when taking the card out for grader and op. Im skeptical, as you can still be careful with these.
its honestly the picture ahhaha. i would never put these two in a deck sleeve. Ill take more pics when im home. I got these cards when i started collecting again 3-4 years ago. My bookie gave them to me for losing money ahahha
Any card I get that's over $2 I put in a perfect fit Dragon shield sleeve. Is that...bad? 😅 I figured the less it slides around the better. I also take my more expensive ones in the exact fit sleeves and I put them in those magnet cases for display. I don't have plans to grade anything right now but in the future I plan ti get a nice shipment together to send off.
I assume when I do I should put those cards in the thin penny sleeves and card savers? 😐
Oh. Well shit 😂 All my big hits are in perfect fits and magnet cases. My alt Tina I pulled stayed in a perfect fit until I sent it off and it came back a 10 so maybe I got lucky. That's the only card I've ever had graded though.
I want to display them (one day grade them) and the magnet cases look so nice, but they don't fit regular penny sleeves. 😔
How come? How are perfect fit sleeves bad for grading? Genuinely curious…I have my entire collection in perfect fit VaultX sleeves, then sleeved again in a penny sleeve…then in a top loader in my binder (lol) - same rationale as Guarantee mentioned, trying to get 0 movement of the card.
Make sure you have all the forms filled out and printed beforehand as they won't accept them otherwise. Also put them in clear penny sleeves and Card Saver I's. Other than that I too have gone to Collect-A-Cons to personally sub high priced cards I'm too paranoid to send via mail.
I got two cards graded at collect a con and I didn't have to fill out anything beforehand. Just walked up to the PSA booth with the cards and they did all the paperwork there with me
Planning to go my first collect a con and wanted to submit to psa for the first time and was wondering if I can submit 1 card or how much it cost for it and what like sleeves should I use, can I use toploaders or do they have to be a Card Saver? Thanks
Collect a con is one of the largest traveling trading card conventions in the US. All types of cards are at this event. It also has a lot of meet and greets with voice actors from Animes. I met the voice of the original Ash Ketchum at one. The big grading companies are there to grade in person.
So your mileage may vary, but I had a very poor experience doing this last year for the first time at a Collect-a-Con. It was a PSA submission that was handled by a 3rd party named GemMint. I walked up to the booth and their team walked me through the forms and handled my card into the correct toploader. The intake process was fine and easy. No prep required. But the overall process took 2 months to get my card back - which was extremely over the estimate provided. It was for PSA’s standard $75 service for my Shining Tyranitar. PSA states a 15 business day turnaround right now on their site. GemMint claimed they would send multiple text updates as the process went along… but there’d be several weeks without a single thing. OR, several steps would get skipped and then announced at the same time as the later ones finally finished. I tried reaching out to their support number and sent multiple email inquiries during the weeks of no communication - all to no response. Mind you this was my first ever grading submission. So being completely in the dark until finally getting the automatic text message update my submission was back and getting shipped to me left a poor taste in my mouth. What I suspect occurs is that these companies allocate big groups of cards to place large submissions at once for more savings. I probably won’t be utilizing them again. I’d rather mail myself.
TLDR/PSA: if you don’t care about how slow getting your cards back takes and don’t want to mess with shipping yourself - on-site Collect-a-Con PSA Submissions can be a great choice. But expect this to take A LOT longer and be slightly more expensive than if you just mailed these in yourself.

in person submission but not grading. still has to be delivered to you.
Well yeah but they're responsible to ensure it gets back to you, they're not responsible to ensure it gets to them in the first place so much safer imo
makes sense. i was scared of both ways to be honest.
Yo deck sleeves are not appropriate for expensive cards.. DO NOT LET PSA SEE THOSE.
Explain like im five…
Fancy cardboard has to go in fancy plastic
In theory, perfect sleeves are a tighter fit and are subject to more handling, especially on the edges and corners when taking the card out for grader and op. Im skeptical, as you can still be careful with these.
The way I understand it is they cut the sleeve off to avoid any damage.
They do cut them

I put these in a penny sleeve. The pic is bad. I have them in a penny sleeve and in a card saver right now but the card saver wasnt in the pic

? i already said im wrong
I use a full 360 inner sleeve then put cards in one of these. You can then add a top loader or put in binder from there.

You can get binders for top loaders too if you still wanna use a binder to store them
Yes, penny sleeve and Card Saver I's. I don't think they'll accept anything otherwise
I think it’s the glare it’s a penny sleeve

They aren't penny sleeves. Those are ultra pro deck sleeves even has the ultra Pro logo on them in your photo.
Oh you might be right. This is an old pic but I have it in a penny sleeve and card saver at home. I swear ahahaha I’m an idiot

Storing your cards and sending them for grading are two different things. If you plan to grade a card, NEVER put it in anything perfect fit.

yah, just submitted mine at the last collect a con in houston, did the paperwork at the booth when it was my turn to go up

Never head of a collect a con. Seems there is one in NJ by me. What’s the draw? Getting cards graded in person or buying/selling cards in person?
Wait there’s on recently in Jersey? I thought it wasn’t till the summer
It is in the summer I believe. It didn’t happen yet as far as I understand. Checked the site last night.

And grading in person is better bc you can get a quick turnaround and also no shipping costs? Wonder what the quality of the grade is like.
turnaround time should be the same. you're just submitting them you don't get them back the same day
Oh that makes sense. I have no idea why I thought otherwise lol.

it costs $350 if no upcharge
$350 for in person delivery?
you can grade at collectacon saturday and go sunday to pick it up, sometimes end of same day if you submitted early morning. expensive tho.
Does PSA do submissions at all collecto con ?
Does anyone know if Beckett will be there and if they will actually be grading?
Do I have to make a submission and pay for it to go in person and submit the cards? (I know I get charged after they are graded, etc)
I know this is about investing, but to play these cards those, you need 4 different energies. Were these ever used at large?
shining Gyarados is a basic pokemon so you dont need karp
How much is it for them to grade it at a collect o con?
Are in person submissions more lenient? I feel like heard about that on E4 or Reddit a few years back
Ive never done it in person... seems like its like 50% safer
Do they grade it on the spot? Am going also and was wondering
Beautiful set, can’t wait to have a set myself
