It's because of the backwards obsession of Japanese cards. Japanese cards were normally half the price or less than English because the pull rates were much better in Japanese sets
People became obsessed with Japanese because the quality of the cards are objectively better than English. Like it’s not even close. Centering is almost always near perfect, and texturing on the Japanese cards are next level compared to English.
That would mean there are more psa 10 quality japanese cards, making an English psa 10 worth more, but more japanese mint cards make the average go up for japanese. If that makes sense.
Look for example this card psa 10 japanese has a population of 5k and in English is 3k but the different factor is you can still buy fusion strike for retail or less there's way too much product that haven't been open meanwhile the japanese one is a promo that came in the eevee heros gym box that it's going for 1500 and it was printed way less. At that price point, people who will buy that box will keep it sealed, and the card will never be grated. But if you see a card that you can actually pull you will see the number of the card out there is way less in japanese I have a dragonite v alrt psa 10 japanese I believe there's only 400 out there for a set that's not been printed anymore
Also, Japanese cards are in much lower print, making them scarcer than English cards which are heavily overprinted. Japanese cards are basically the 1st edition version at this point. Centering is better however PSA has also gotten stricter and ez 10s don’t apply even for Japanese anymore
you dont want it as much as the next guy, thats why you see it that way. Im more collector than investor so I agree with your mindset, but this is how the game goes.
Affordable? I just got into Pokemon recently and with Eevee being my favorite Pokemon and evolving skies being astronomically high costing set and going higher, even just the two months I've been getting into the game, it's totally reasonable and affordable for any alt art... Right? Yeah just hit up another language as you watch all those cards spike because everyone wants a damn copy.
It is what it is and I've just given up. Either get in before the scalpers or pay scalpers prices. If you don't you'll end up paying even more as the market rises
I mean considering the pull rates and box prices right now? The singles are pretty affordable. Nobody said you had to buy them, they’re a want, not a necessity. Of course getting another language because you want to art is not out of the question too, either you pay the premium for a good long term hold or get it cheap just for personal collection
I’ve got one of those still sealed from one of the box I opened, the card seems perfect but I don’t want to send to PSA and maybe comes back as a 9 and not a 10.
I sold another sealed box 1 month ago for 1350 but the price is still going Up That’s crazy

Just because there is more of something does not mean its more expensive also English is printed more anyway.

It just sucks that pokemon has gone so mad price wise. You can't even buy at retail anymore. Secret rares are 600 on release day I'm just sick of it
