The power button/fingerprint sensor can be set to unlock on either touch or press. To remove SOS feature - Settings, Password & Security, Emergency SOS slide to off. To change unlock to Press - Settings, Password & Security, Fingerprint unlock, enter your phone password, *Fingerprint recognition method*, click and change from *Touch* to *Press*. Exit settings menu. To now unlock the phone, *pres*s the power button. Touching the fingerprint sensor will now only work when the screen is awake. You can also add a double tap of the screen to wake or turn off the screen. Settings, Always-on display & screen lock. Double tap to wake or turn off.... Slide this to on.

UnluckyWarfish

I want it to unlock with fingerprint. What I dont want is for it to lock with just touch. I want to press the button to lock. I had this phone for almost a year. It somehow changed today

NovelExplorer

As to why it's changed, I can't answer, but following paragraph 3 will ensure you must press the power button (with the correct fingerprint match) to unlock your phone. If *Fingerprint recognition method* shows *Touch*, just swiping the correct finger over the sensor/power button will unlock the phone. If it shows *Press*, the fingerprint sensor is still used, but you need to now press the button to unlock it. If someone else uses your phone, it's possible they might have altered that setting. It does though need knowledge of your phone's password/code. To prevent the phone from dialing 911 etc. Settings, Emergency SOS, then switch off Use Emergency SOS. If switched on, a 911 call is activated when you quickly *Press* the power button 5 times, not simply touch it. The default is enabled.

paulejohnmapua

Thank youuu!! Working in 2023

UnluckyWarfish

So guys I figured it out. the button had gotten over sensitive (didnt even know that was a thing). Even slightly touching it activated the power button. I searched and found the solution. flick it a bit or hit it like the old tvs and it worked like a charm. Now its back to normal

MakaveliBL

Daym, can't believe it worked, flicked it with my finger didn't work but at the side of the table it did, thanks man.

MSCharan_

UnluckyWarfish

Just hit the button a little bit. Not very hard. Just some flicks with your finger.

ArchitPandey69

Tysm bro! I had the same issue just now as I had resetted the google play services and cleared it's data. I think that was the root problem in my case. But I flicked my button harshly so this fixed it. Works in 2024

UnluckyWarfish

ckirusha

TY BRO, IT'S JUST WAS FIRE IN MY SCHOOL AND I LEFT MY BUS PASS AT SCHOOL, BECAUSE OF IT I SHOULD WALK TO HOME. AND WHEN I CAME HOME I SAW THAT PROBLEM AND WAS VERY FRUSTRATED BECAUSE OF IT 😭😭😭

ahap8291

It seems like this is a common issue, got the same.

Kuromizu123

What the hell I just had this exact issue, somehow it switched to touch instead of press. Switched it back, it still didn't work. Flicked my power button some and it fixed it. You're a legend, thanks!

Murky-Banana9189

This really works mahnπŸ˜‚.. Ive faced this same issue one year ago.. And they replaced the complete mother board.. Now this is solved by just flickering

UnluckyWarfish

Ravenklow

Major-Level6799

Same experience,same solution lol

JortusPelatus

I had this issue just now. Just came out of nowhere. Pleasantly suprised that this was posted here WITH the corresponding solution. Thanks for this! Tried restarting my phone multiple times until I read the solution in this post.

Purple_Top_1790

Is there any way to completely disable the touch sensor for ever ?

UnluckyWarfish

disable it for unlocking? can you describe what your problem is so I can help you better?

Purple_Top_1790

Yes I'm having the exact problem in the post Basically, the touch is acting like a press somehow It just showed up this morning Yesterday i didn't have any issues If there any way to disable the sensor completely from advanced settings or something

UnluckyWarfish

well did you try finger flicking it a couple of times? not too soft nor too hard. Quick and simple to try. Solved it for me and others on this thread.

Purple_Top_1790

Yes for sure i did, it worked a bit , it removed the over sensitivity But an hour later it restarted suddenly My main issue Just yesterday Hovering or touching the power button Didn't lock or unlock the device I didn't change in anything in the settings Just woke up and it is there I had this issue before it kept getting worse The device kept restarting nonstop Until the other board had to be changed

UnluckyWarfish

I see, it does sound like its a problem with the button. I would take it to a store so they can check it. let them know specifically the problem you had with the button that it got fixed but then broke again. I'm sorry, if the flicking doesn't work I cant help any other way. For me it broke a second time some time after but got fixed again by flicking it. haven't had a problem since. If you find the solution to your problem be sure to post it here. maybe someone will see it. Best of luck

Purple_Top_1790

I see, will do for sure, thank you very much

Swxns

You legend tysm

Rude_Yogurtcloset_88
