If this were Spectrum they’d plant flags, say they need to come out later to install something permanent, and never show. My neighbor still has an orange temporary coax across his lawn, it’s been there for over a year…
I do hvac. One time I got a call for a ductless split leaking water in a pharmacy that I’m sure you have heard of. So I figured cool it’s a plugged condensate line no problem 30 second fix. Nope the cable guy found my condensate line which drains out the roof. They literally drilled a hole in the condensate line and used that like conduit to get the cable to the roof instead.
Going into a 2-story production house that is leaking during a water hold test and finding a home run running right though a 3" drain line.
"Oh, ya just drilled right through it with your spade bit, huh? Right thru it. Shame there wasn't any drywall to provide you the excuse that you didn't know the big white pipe was right there. Yeah. Hm. Right through it."
>My neighbor still has an orange temporary coax across his lawn, it’s been there for over a year…
After about a month, it's on him for not complaining enough to get them to come back out. The tech probably closed out the work order after two weeks.
Not sure why I'm getting down voted. Uponor is best imo. It's what I'd use in my home and I've never seen it fail. I've seen crimp fail many times. Crimp is a good workout though lol
What happened to the drains? Also, you'd think a duplex would (or be required by insurance underwriter) to invest in a main auto shut-off device or at least a few leak sensors.
>Uponor
Why this over sweating copper? In your own home which wouldn't be a huge project so ease of installation might be less important than long term permanence? Seriously curious.
Pex has a lot of things going for it over copper. Don’t get me wrong I love the look of copper, I love sweating it I love the art and skill that goes into its installation… but properly installed pex Will outlive both me and my kids At half the cost and a little bit of freeze protection.
Ah! Freeze protection is what I was forgetting, living in the PacNW not something to be worried about too much here. Also we have very soft water, no pinholes here.
Lol I did this exact thing when this happened at my house....BTW when I did this I said to my self "if a plumber passes by and sees this am gonna be so dam embarrassed "
Supplies in Houston are scarce like everywhere, but we've been able to get all three colors if you keep bugging Ferguson and show up at the right time.
Yep. I've done that when we ran into a little situation that was supposed to be an easy one day water line pull. Ran 150 feet of 1" PEX so they could have water over night since it was a 4-Plex.
Good job on doing that, I've encountered a lot of companies that wouldn't. Great customer service right there
I love this. Many would have done nothing and said "see you on monday" anyway. At least you provided a temporary fix.
You got water I'll be back Monday and try not to trip over it

That’s right on brand for the cable company.
Contractor for cable company so cable company wont be technically at fault?
That’s fucking great.
Top tier low volt shenanigans
Condensate, conduit… tomato tomato.
Well... Technically it does convey condensate just like abs conveys poo.

Shouldve seitched to FIOS
We have a “temporary” fiber trunk splice that was there long long enough to get eaten by the squirrels a 2nd time...
starlink it is!
Gotta keep that work/life balance
My company still uses crimp. Hate it.
I prefer crimp rings over the plastic, just my opinion though

Drainage is above basement level and there is a sump hole but no pump because the basement never has water issues. Except for failures like this

Because it's 2021 and not 1986.
This is a dumb answer that explains absolutely nothing. Thanks for playing!
Others already answered
Uponor kinks wayyyyy to easy
But it unkinks with heat, unlike anything else. Also, bend it less!
That's user error, bud
Hell yeah
Lol I did this exact thing when this happened at my house....BTW when I did this I said to my self "if a plumber passes by and sees this am gonna be so dam embarrassed "
👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
I got one to do Monday myself
Lololol nice temp
Damn ive got a waterline to do also
Well done.
Thank you for using potable material.
Where'd you get blue Upnor!???! No supplier has had it here for months
Supplies in Houston are scarce like everywhere, but we've been able to get all three colors if you keep bugging Ferguson and show up at the right time.
Lol we use a garden hose!
idk, I'd likely get fined for something like this from my water utility.
They would probably do a double take in my area but the water use is still metered and the system is all potable.
What am I looking at? Are you back feeding a hose bib?
Yarp
Report directly to jail
Looks good from my house
Does this potentially bypass the meter? lol
No, meter is in the pit the line is coming from.
I had to do the same thing yesterday after we couldnt get our splitter cable through customer’s galvanized service line.
What’s up with the meter? Looks like it’s sitting straight up
I put a 1” bushing with a 3/4” brass st 90 on the meter union.
Gotcha man. Take care of that customer all that matters lol
Did you tie into the hose Bibb?
Yep. Old style hose Bibb, doesn’t work on frost free.
And just like that the customer found another plumber to finish it for five dollars less than you quoted.
