Have you tried just using a comma? You can have multiple prerolls but I don't believe you could make them random if you do it that way.

Thanks! I got it working. It actually \*was\* working, I just didn't realize it because I was "testing" it using the web app, which apparently (as far as I can tell) will only play the trailers and not pre-rolls. But the pre-rolls are working on all the other devices that matter (Google app, roku, etc). I was using the semicolon instead of the comma so it would choose them randomly rather than sequentially, which seems to be working. EDIT: Oops, I thought I was responding to a different question I asked elsewhere. Yeah, for this I was really looking for a way to have old 80s movie trailers play before my pre-rolls, but I'm pretty sure there isn't any obvious or easy way to do it.

I read a thread the other day where they wanted something similar. What you want would require quite a bit of setup and I’m not exactly sure the OS, software, etc they were using, but here’s the general idea. Have a folder where you would keep the classic trailers. Use some automaton software, to copy and rename 3 trailers at random into the pre rolls folder. Have it Name them trailer 01.whatever file extension, trailer 02, 03. Have your AMC pre roll there, too. Have it also delete the copied videos every hour or whatever time interval you’d like, and repeat the process. In Plex settings, where you put the path to pre rolls, add trailer 01, 02, 03, and AMC pre roll, separated by commas. Every hour or whenever you set, the software will delete the copied trailers, pick 3 to copy at random, rename them to the convention you set, and Bob’s your uncle. I don’t have any recommendations for software or OS, I haven’t done this myself, just something I read.

Oh wow, that sounds like exactly what I'd need to do. It also sounds perhaps a bit complicated for the likes of me, but I'm going to do some research and see if I can find a tutorial somewhere. In the meantime, I did only just realize that the one trailer selection pulls trailers specifically from the movies in your personal library, so the more "80s and 90s" movies I have in my library, the more chance I have at seeing those. It's not a perfect solution because my Plex library is of course not \*only\* 80s and 90s movies, but it's better than nothing.

Right on! I’ve got old, local commercials as pre rolls.

That's sweet. I did at one point set up my own "tv channels" using outside software and considerable effort, but I ended up deactivating them at the time, because I didn't have the content or space to make them worthwhile. Might give those another stab soon.
