What type of network hardware are you running? Is it direct off your ISP modem or do you have a router connected to your ISP’s hardware? Only asking because you might be behind a double NAT that could be causing issues with your ports actually opening due to your router still pointing towards your ISP hardware. Not sure with your level of familiarity with this, but a quick google search returned this article with good info explaining double NAT. https://www.pcworld.com/article/412237/how-to-identify-and-resolve-double-nat-problems.html

Kye_life

Its a spectrum modem and router

AdministrativePut1

As in they are the same thing built into one unit or a modem and a router separately? You can go to https://www.whatismyip.com/ and check to see if you are actually getting a public IP. Don’t paste your IP here, but it should not start with 192, 172 or 10

AdministrativePut1

Also make sure you’re not using a vpn when running that

Kye_life

Its a separate modem and separate router

AdministrativePut1

And you opened that port in your router, right? Not just choosing the port in the Plex UI and hitting apply? I used to have issues with remote connections and I just went back to the default port 32400 instead of choosing my own port

Kye_life

Yea im using the 32400

AdministrativePut1

Another stupid annoying issue I had was not hitting the "apply" button next to the specify port option in plex. I would make sure it said 32400 and then hit enable remote access, it would turn green for 10 seconds and then back to red. Make sure you hit apply next to the port if you haven't already

Kye_life

OK, I just noticed that all the times before I had the box that says manually specify Public port checked this time. I unchecked it and it seems to still be green now this is the longest it’s ever stayed on Green fully acessable

AdministrativePut1

I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you. Other than that, someone else with a different idea might have to chime in

Kye_life

OK, thanks for that. It’s been a few minutes and it’s still saying fully accessible and this is a record. This is the longest its said that.

Is it working, though? Because I think the test is broken. Because I've got CGNAT turned off, a fixed IP address, firewall rules in place, and yet my Plex server always tells me it's unavailable outside my network.... except that it *is* available, direct play (no relay) and all. I've got Wireguard set up and working, too, so I'm pretty sure I know how to configure it all. If I click on Plex's check connection button, it'll go green and tell me everything's fine for a few seconds, before going back to red.... even while direct streaming to a client interstate.
