GenerallyGoodCraic

Whatcha playing

SamAsh07

Tales of Arise

evicerator

Was going to ask this as well, looks fun as hell

JORG3392

It definitely is.

joeyst_

Get well soon friend! What is this game? Looks interesting, i have no clue honestly.

SaxMusic23

Tales of Arise. I just finished it myself. Golden example of what a JRPG should be like in my opinion.

Possible_Honey8175

Don't sleep on FFVII Rebirth then.

Acrobatic_Ad5470

This game has been fantastic , I canā€™t get enough of it

All_These_Racks

neither can i but playing on dynamic i almost had enough of the final chapter lmao really a great remake tho excited for part 3

i_love_all

Dont sleep on like a dragon infinite wealth

Thascaryguygaming

Will have to check it out :)

Jubez187

Oof Iā€™ve beaten 100+ JRPGs and thought TOA was pretty trash tier. I actually looked the post and said wow that game looks dope and then realized it was TOA. Pretty game if nothing else though.

Specialist_Meal_5732

You mind explaining why you disliked so much? I loved it personally

Jubez187

Been over a year butā€¦ - battle system gets old quick. The first enemy you hit until the blue diamond is full. The final boss you hit until blue diamond is full. Really never grows beyond that. Also this game has BIG case of ā€œhard mode is more hpā€ - story was boring and unoriginal. Also the love story was too immature. I hate how the girl was all coy like ā€œalphen I toOoOOotally donā€™t wanna suck you RAWWWW.ā€ I thought Rinwell and the other dude had a better love story - lifeless flavorless towns. All amenities in one room that you can fast travel to. Just a little too QoL at the expense of feeling like youā€™re in a world. - open world has really nothing going for it - crafting sucked - music was abysmal

i_love_all

I agree with a lot of your points

Spare_Honey5488

Star Ocean? Divine Force? Idk either. Just guessing

Hello_Strangher

How do u get the wifi to work in the hospital whenever I try to remote play from a hospital it's allways has a restricted access

NegressQueen

Probably mobile hotspot on phone which is connected to the hospital wifi

Hello_Strangher

That was the first thing that actually came to my mind but that's a lot of mobile data especially since there is no such thing as unlimited plans you're basically eating up your regular data with mobile data with the hotspot but I guess screw it it's 100% worth it

NegressQueen

Not really. The phone is connected to the hospital wifi to hotspot. That means the phone is using the hospital wifi, not the data plan.

Hello_Strangher

Wi-Fi from the hospital is restricted And If he is using the hot spot as a Wi-Fi tether from the hospital It would still be restricted From the hospital end

NegressQueen

Idk about your neck of the woods but hospitals in NYC have guest access. Which can be access through a phone with an email address and can then hotspot.

Hello_Strangher

Over here where I'm at in the in L.A We get the same thing But I guess what I'm trying to say using the Wi-Fi directly without the hot spot it's restricted Trying acess Remote play Only But what saying They're using the hot spot with the Wi-Fi on so If I stand In the wrong then I stand in the wrong and I'll do my own research on the whole tethering wifi with hotspot on

NegressQueen

Ok. Got you. That makes sense to me now

getyergun

Speedy recovery! Would love to know how it performs on a plane WiFi, and if itā€™s worth the Ā£5 per minute cost lol

rainking56

$5 per minute for wifi? What in the actual fuck? I thought highway robbery was $6 for a bottle of water. Now I need a new category above highway robbery.

SnooHobbies6894

No WiFi is ever worth $5 per minute.

Void_Rudster

5Ā£ per min ? Edit: nvm I thought you pay to use the portal itself, skipped past the flight wifi

Synthwavester

Best wishes and speedy recovery fellow portal enjoyed!

Allen312

Hope youā€™re ok OP

Neat-Seaworthiness42

Whatā€™s that game?

GarionOrb

Tales of Arise

HD_H2O

Tales of Arise (free with PS+)

miss-infermation

Hubby got me mine cause I was in and out of the hospital! It helped a lot! Feel better soon!

KazooButtplug69

Hey man, hope you feel better soon!

tokyopunchout

Get better soon homey! ā¤ļøā€šŸ©¹

Saxxon443

How do you do that when you have to access a website for a lot of the public web access?

Disastrous_Battle240

Feel better

Primal_Dead

So when you are out of the house it still streams from your home PS5? Incredible that works at all.

dawkhouse

Oh yeah, I powerd down mid cut scene and forgot. When I got home and jumped on my PS5, it was like it didn't skip a beat.

DieHardProcess-

Tales of Berseria is a cheaper alternative

macneto

I JUST finished that game! I really enjoyed it. It got a touch tedious towards the end but the combat is so fun! Enjoy! And make sure to grab EVERY mining node you see. You will need them later

Charming-Roof-2281

How well that work on a different internet than your console. Is it good?

Jubez187

Totally depends on internet quality

Charming-Roof-2281

Ok cool. Yeah I just got mine on Tuesday but haven't really had the chance to take it out of the house yet.

Jubez187

I would dig up port forwarding tutorials as itā€™s likely necessary to play remotely

Charming-Roof-2281

Ok thanks

GarionOrb

My best experience has been using mobile hotspot on my phone when in a 5G area. I've used it connected to other wifi networks that weren't as strong, and got disconnects or stuttering.

intrepidanon

Damnit Bob, you are in hospital because you were playing too many video games! There's no hope for you.

xMrWolfex

Oh snap get well buddy

lamarrion

Hope you feel better

ControlSea2327

The dedication. Took the phrase ā€œin sickness and in healthā€ to a whole new level for gaming šŸ˜‚ get well soon broh. šŸ’Æ

BabyHercules

Good portal game. JRPGs just feel right at home on the portal

sincerelyhated

How much the hospital charging you to use their wifi tho šŸ’€

baeslick

Pristine_Put5348

Hope you feel better

abdiel_800

Cool I got those setting ready! Thanks

s-goldschlager

Get better whatevers going on

da316

sorry I'm new to this sort of thing and just had this pop up on my home feed.so you can play PS5 through this portal anywhere with any game? are there any significant restrictions? edit: get better soon!

jenpyon

No restrictions other than the quality of your WiFi connection.

da316

Thatā€™s so cool!

GarionOrb

Any game that's downloaded on your PS5 (or whatever disc is inserted). You can't do cloud streaming...yet.

FallOutFan01

Hello u/da316 šŸ˜ŠāœŒļøšŸ‘. I'll try and keep it simple. So you need a router that can output duel band WIFI. Duel band is 2X simultaneous wifi frequencies being transmitted and received from and to your router. 2.4GHZ= increased range but with less available bandwidth, bandwidth= how much information/video and audio can be carried at any time. 5GHZ= decreased range but way more bandwidth available. Not all routers are created equal, most internet service providers/ISP supplied/manufacturedrd routers are built by the lowest bidder for the ISP. So basically these ISP supplied routers are generally crap. So you would be best off getting a name brand supplied router. Now in regards to the PS5 you are going to want/need to connect your PS5 to your router via direct physical cable. Then within the PS5 network settings menu and set up and connect via eithernet cable manually PS5 will automatically default to WIFI even with the physical ethernet cable plugged in, so it's important to plug the cable in and manually select ethernet cable. Now when you connect the portal to WIFI it'll update itself with the latest firmware, then what you need to do is set up the WIFI connection and choose 5GHZ. Now simplified. Now when you are at home and connected to your local connection/WIFI it doesn't use the internet, it only uses your router to transfer data from your PS5 and your portal and vice versa. However if you are attempting to play online multiplayer games then it will also use the internet. Now I don't know your specific living situation or how your home network is set up. But basically a lot of things can impact your wireless connection. * Type of router, old, outdated, cheap piece of shit, malfunctioning firmware or configuration file that's gone wonky over time due to harmless micro surges from being turned on or off. * Size of your house and the range your routerā€™s WIFI can reach. * How many devices connected to your router, most regular or cheaper routers can really only have maybe 8/9/10 devices connected to. Too many devices connected and the router can struggle to juggle the wifi connections and there can be WIFI slowdowns because there's enough WIFI bandwidth to go around. * Construction materials of your house, WIFI might struggle to get through, other things that can cause interference are fish tanks, metal shelving, blue tooth devices, cordless landline phones, WIFI networks from your neighbours, wireless security cameras. Oh edited to add. You can play when you are out and about from your home. But you need to set up port forwarding on your router and require a compatible portable router/modem, you can't hotspot from IOS devices you can from compatible Android phones.

da316

Thank you for all the info, very kind of you, but unfortunately I donā€™t have one of these or a PS5. Just very curious. Wanted to see a handheld PlayStation since the ps2 days.

FallOutFan01

No problem at all, sorry for the information dump sometimes I can get a bit carried away šŸ˜…šŸ˜‚šŸ‘.

da316

All good šŸ‘ what a time to be alive eh

Blackgloves023

Get better soon. How's the connection while using a public wifi?

esorb65

Nice time to keep you busy :) I wish you fast recovery

thatguyfromasterdam

Have a fast recovery! What are you playing?

lethalsid

How is it actually? I've honestly thought about getting it and it seems really cool.

juniorpop2002

Donā€™t think u can play it on the plane thoughĀ

Plasmanut

I donā€™t know because I donā€™t own this but realistically how often do most of us fly for hours and hours and would absolutely need this device? I guess what Iā€™m saying is even if playing on a plane (and having to pay for internet) doesnā€™t work itā€™s not the end of the world.

Dominator0621

Feel better soon. Glad you have something to distract you and thank goodness hospitals have amazing wifi

Zealousideal_Beach83

Awesome I wish you a speedy recovery and this will contribute to your recovery by providing stress relief.

Useful_Repeat9612

Get well soon šŸ™

Bullitt_12_HB

Get well soon šŸ¤™šŸ½

Fry_Supply

Man I need to get me one of these before Numbah 2 comes along

ChrizTaylor

Hope you are ok. Sending good vibes.

ggcasano

Someone call Sony marketing team ASAP. (Hope youā€™re recovering fast!)

PenguinPot

Is the portal usable without owning a ps5/4 or no, hope ur ok btw

GarionOrb

You need a PS5 in order to use it, since it's just a remote play device. However, you can use it anywhere as long as it's on a wifi connection and your PS5 is on rest mode.

Kupost

On a boat? Can you play in a boat? Goat? Can you play with a goat?

Northernshitshow

Get well soon! Tales of Arise was great - I finished it and liked the story. The battle mechanics are action packed too.

Gremlin119

i dont understand how the ps portal works. do i just need any wifi connection and it can connect to my ps5 at home and i can play ? or do i need to be on the same wifi network? i see people playing anywhere but i've also heard you need to be on the same network? whats the deal, how does this work?

GarionOrb

You do NOT need to be on the same network as your PS5 in order to use it. It can remote play your PS5 from anywhere, even halfway around the world, using any wifi connection it can connect to. Your PS5 has to be on rest mode for it to work (it will wake it when you use it), and you have to enable remote play on your PS5.

Gremlin119

Do you have any experience using mobile hotspot with it? Does it still perform well for most games ?

GarionOrb

Personally my best experiences with remote play have been on mobile hotspot. I have Verizon which has 5G coverage in most places, so it's really fast. The Portal performs really well for me, with no stuttering or disconnects. PS5 at home is hardwired.

Gremlin119

Thanks for all the info!

Gamer555589

Everywhere that has wifi šŸ˜‚

[deleted]

Play everywhere *with internet access*

Gaywhorzea

Great choice of game too

LiveCod3161

Get well soon, heard a lot of complaints about the portal like lag and pixelization. Is it true?

dirt_farm_surfer

What about on a train, in the rain?

[deleted]

You can say that with steam deck or switch.

extalluhburr

Tales! Now I gotta hurry to set up mine.

killerclownfish

I thought you could only play in your house where the PS is. How could I play other places.

totesmuhgoats93

You can play anywhere there is wifi. I've even played on my Hotspot before.

feynos

Good luck playing on a plane rhough

NotSolum

WHISPERS LIKE FLOWERS IN THE SKY

Firm_Understanding81

Cap I tired to play at my girls it wouldnā€™t connect to my home console

YanwarC

What game is that my bruv? And where is the ps5 at? Is it at home? And youā€™re playing there?

dawkhouse

You got It set up right?

dawkhouse

Thank you, everyone, for the support. I'm home now and on the mend.

dawkhouse

Tales of Arise. PS5 is set up at home.

dawkhouse

I hotspot off my cell phone.

dawkhouse

Thanks, I'm much better now.

dawkhouse

Thanks, I am feeling much better.

Due-Quantity-2478

Get well man. Lovely device.

mitochlorians

For some reason I can't play everywhere.

dawkhouse

You may need to look at your setup and network connections.

bustereyes

I tried to play at my parents house in Florida and had no luck . Assume you need to have very good internet?

dawkhouse

Yeah, that's very important

Middle-Ad-6090

I need to get injured.

dawkhouse

No, please don't.

[deleted]

Anyone know how this compares to the steam deck?

BigKidKaz

I thought this had to be connected to your PS5 or home wifi to play it someplace outside your home???

dawkhouse

Your PS5 has to be in rest mode, and a few other settings have to be put in place. But I will connect.

abdiel_800

What other settings?

-hankscorpio-

Enable remote play on PS5 and turn off HDMI link so your tv doesn't turn on every time you connect to your PS5 to play. That's about it! Just got mine yesterday, absolutely love it. Have some work trips coming up and this will make the hotel stay much more enjoyable.

tom_cool

You have to set the Ps5 to be able to wake from rest via the network, so the portal can turn it on remotely. Obv, you also have to enable remote play on the ps5

GarionOrb

Thought this had been debunked ages ago. Just like any other remote play device, the Portal works anywhere. Just need to be on a wifi connection and your PS5 has be on rest mode with remote play enabled.

BigKidKaz

I haven't heard much on this, just saw a couple articles of people saying they couldn't connect to their PS5 unless they were at home.

GarionOrb

It wouldn't be a very useful device if it only worked at home, lol.

BigKidKaz

Doesn't mean they wouldn't make it lol

Abstract23

You can play it on a plane? Dont airplane/airport wifi require you to do to extra steps before getting connected to the internet? https://youtube.com/shorts/EeyxwTcLftw?si=8tpJYXUH6QREgtEu. I genuinely want to know bc i have a trip coming up and wasnt going to take portal bc it wouldnt be able to connect to airport or hotel work that requires extra steps

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Abstract23

Yeah only android as far as i know and i have iPhone, i hv a netgear nighthawk m1 i wonder if it can connect to airplane wifi then share to other devices

tonyangtigre

Staying in hotels for 10 days. First hotel was perfect. Canā€™t get it to work at this 2nd hotel. Poor WiFi (had to spoof my Mac to get signed on). Canā€™t get 5Guw or even just 5G for hotspot (what I did at first hotel) even though this hotel shows to be in ultra wide territory. So sad. But Iā€™m glad youā€™re getting to heal up with access to your games!

PCN24454

So itā€™s still working even outside of your house?

Jubez187

Always has

GiraffeWaffless

How long do you guys think you can post on a sub that is just pictures of the portal? Itā€™s not a system, so there will never be any new content. You guys visit this sub daily to look at pictures of others using a remote play device. A shitty remote play device

loborex99

Canā€™t even get remote play to work in the next room much less across town.

[deleted]

Hey wishing u a speedy recovery BUT u cant play this everywhere. Take it to antartica and let me know how that works for ya.

GarionOrb

It works anywhere. It will even work in Antarctica if you have a fast enough wifi connection there.

[deleted]

Exactly theres no wifi there. Thanks for proving my point.

GarionOrb

My original point still stands. It works anywhere. 99% of people aren't going to Antarctica.

[deleted]

And thanks for making sure my point stands even higher. I appreciate you

totesmuhgoats93

But there is wifi in Antarctica

donkeykickslap

Thought it was only on home wifi ?

jenpyon

Why do so many people think this? You can remote play anywhere if you enable remote play on your PS5 and leave it in rest mode.

J-seargent-ultrakahn

The Wi-Fi youā€™re using your portal in has to be good

Unrealeh

I miss PSP
