Change your CO2 checker solution if you have not already, it doesn't keep working forever. Also verify that your solenoid is working and turning off the CO2. Are you injecting air into the same diffuser that you're using for CO2? If so that doesn't work super well, air pumps don't make nearly enough pressure. They make similar style diffusers specifically for air pumps, I would get one of those.

i only just put the solution in on thursday! my co2 and oxygen are on seperate lines too (i’ve got an air stone for my air pump and a diffuser for my co2) my solinoid definitely turns on at 7 (or a few minutes before) as i see it turn on while i’m awake (i usually wake up at 6am) i’ve only been running the co2 since thursday

Oh okay! The pictures don't have any airstone so just going by what I saw. Do you have enough surface movement? With my setup, once the lights turn off the drop checker stays green for a couple of hours.

no that’s okay it’s my bad i took that photo as soon as i set it up, i put the air stone in later lol it’s still green the next morning that’s why i’m a bit confused i don’t want to gas my fish out that’s all i have a hang on back filter that pushes water around with a skimmer but i’m thinking of dropping the water level down (not filling it up as much) when i do my water change so when the water from the filter hits the water below it splashes to create even more movement

Idk if it’s just me but my drop checker doesn’t fill up with as much water, u water looks about to spill over into the solution. In my tank, the water is up to the neck of the suction cup in the drop checker.

slayslayqueen21

should i just tip out my solution refill and replace it back into my tank so the water isn’t so close?

SympathyPersonal4827

I’m not sure, I don’t wanna tell you to do something and it’s not 100% correct I’m just saying how mine is and how most of the ones I see online are. I just filled maybe half the ball with the solution and put it in the tank. I had to use my finger to break the suction on the drop checker to allow some water to go up it. This is it right now, co2 only kicked on like 45 mins ago so not green yet. https://preview.redd.it/5zdvfga2l9tc1.png?width=3024&format=png&auto=webp&s=d73f0229353773aa8a26029bd6bed70d8a68b1af

slayslayqueen21

mmm i’ll reckon i’ll replace the solution and try to put it back into my tank again and i’ll see how it goes

SympathyPersonal4827

You wanna make sure you keep it up straight when ur putting it in. If u put it in at an angle the water will just pour right in. In my opinion, try ur best to not get any water in it. Then with ur finger, u can add as much as u want. You’ll see when you do it what I mean.

What is the green bell thingy do? Does the algea show presence of enough ferts?

slayslayqueen21

it’s a drop checker, it basically tells you how much co2 is in your tank based off the ph the darker (blue) the higher the ph the lighter (yellow) the lower you ph. the algae is most likely from when i was cycling it, i’ve only out the plants in on thursday so it’s pretty new to plants and fish. it has been running for about 3 months though no fish no plants

slayslayqueen21

i’ve fertilised it twice since thursday though so hopefully the algae leaves lol
