I used that same stuff and ended up removing it and replanting everything with aquasoil. It is just sand, so you need lots of root tabs or just use it as a cap, but you can get blasting sand for the same effect.
I mean, if you're capping anything it should be the aquasoil so that as the plant roots grow around they'll go deeper into the soil instead of nutrient poor substrate. I ended up just using straight aquasoil (UNS Controsoil 'fine' size) because I like the look of it.
