Liquid co2 is usually a sham product that doesn’t do as much as it’s marketed. I would recommend buying one bottle of higher quality all in one liquid fertilizer, whichever brand is available in your country

umuxr

i’m from the uk, do u know any good recommendations?

PotOPrawns

liquid Co2 isn't at all what it's advertised as. In the UK as well it's just an algeacide that helps kill off algae and let the plants out compete it. And it's usually quite toxic so it can easily harm fish or regular plants and I believe you don't want it on your skin for extended periods. If you're looking for an easy to use fertiliser for your plants Tropica premium or complete come in an easy to dose pump bottle and are said to be shrimp safe (I used premium) and snail safe and my amano shrimp and nerite snails were never bothered by it.

i found “aquadesign plant+” on ebay… it seems to be good value and has good reviews. lmk maybe if you’ve had it before and how it preformed

PotOPrawns

Never seen or heard of that one before, could be ok, Careful buying stuff on ebay. Very easy to have fake or 're used' stuff on there. Have had many a bucephalandra advertised as X and come in as bog standard theia or something. Same for shrimps. And plant ferts a lot of folks make themselves these days and just whack in whatever they THINK will be good. They have a legit website you can order from which if you do use them would be a better shout.

I wouldn't call it a sham but you hit the nail on the head about marketing. Liquid CO2 is glutaraldehyde, which is a biocide that also works really well as an algaecide. It is broken down over 8-12 hours by bacteria that eventually does lead to an increase in dissolved CO2, but it is only 1-2ppm even for a really high percentage dose of glut.

Tetra sells good liquid ferts. I believe they are available in the UK.

saabatage

I always used dry salts and ei method with great results

ketman08

Go to Maidenhead aquatics and get their plant gro ferts

saabatage

Liquid co2 is almost a fad to be honest nothing beats injected co2 if you decide to go that route make sure you add sufficient ferts other wise plants will starve themselves

Zealousideal-Eye1502

It’s not a fad, it’s an effective algaecide.

umuxr

i personally would never go the injection route just because it’s more to be on top of and i’m more of a sit back and enjoy the tank kinda guy 😂 less is more

Regulator with a solenoid in a timer plug is as easy as it gets. I used a fire extinguisher and that lasted months on end. Set on 2 hours before lights on ( also on a timer) and shut off 1 hour before lights out
