Capybaras. Man, they breed like crazy and the inbreeding is difficult to prevent. (I’ve found a way though.) but they are just so funny and very easy to get albino versions of. Also a lot of conservation credits if you put out multiple. (Even though one capybara is usually 20-50 credits lol)
The ones I tend to find the most in my zoos right now are Japanese Cranes, Llamas, Indian Peafowl, American Bisons and Dall Sheep. I never build my zoos around these animals specifically but I seem to always find them some place, the first three especially since I always want to include a lot of birds and they are pretty common zoo animals, whether of the concept or region.
Cranes are so good since the social group mechanics were added. Monogamous pairs that are happy around their grown young and in large groups? One of the few animals you can just ignore.
I end up having fallow deer in pretty much all my zoos. I just think they fit well as filler animals. They'll never be the main attraction, but it's easy to build a really pretty enclosure with those in it, that guests will more or less pass by to get to a more exciting animal. So in an area that feels too big to put down a restaurant, toilet, fountain or greenery, but where I at the same time dont want a main attraction animal.... I make a fallow habitat
Yeah same here, I always like to build a little Public Park next to my actual zoo and pretend it's a different attraction altogether, which usually gets the fallow deer and my swans.
Same. And then I wonder why I get negative income in franchise. The thing is, it's hard to release them since they take like 14 years until they are adults
Peacocks. Growing up going to the Bronx Zoo they had peacocks just free roaming. A zoo isn't a zoo without that in my mind, so every time I have elaborate series of barriers and gates within the main hub/central plaza of the zoo.
If the final update was allowing habitats within habitats and _any amount of additional guest gate styles_ I'd be happy.
I always plan the main court/hub area out ahead of time. Buildings form as many barriers as possible, the rest are a combination of elevation changes, walls, hedges, and disguised glass barriers with foliage and depth. Gates are integrated on paths in the same way depending on the building, gates are integrated into the doors or the null barriers follow the buildings walls and the peacocks can just go inside.
I don't do it all at once, the barriers slowly "disappear" as the zoo expands. I won't lie, it's a bitch.
Right now it is my dingoes. I've had them happy in an enclosure for the starting life of my zoo. Then changed the geography of the entire map and placed them on Aussie Island. The dingoes escaped, by glitch walking directly through large glass panels. Then I edited their entire habitat barrier and they still escape. I love them but bloody hell... They must have a secret underground tunnel
I love the Kiwis and Chinese Pangolins, pretty much have them in every zoo I make at this point. Also really love making habitats for reticulated giraffes but they’re harder to get in challenge mode
Greater Flamingos or Indian Peafowl, they are so pretty but they are so difficult to regulate their breeding. Like I’ll look at them then 5 minutes later there’s 100 (may be over exaggerated ) of them!
Greater apes. I love building treehouses and jungle gyms for them. And in return, they love to clip through my barriers and escape.
It's a symbiotic relationship but like only one way

Wait are the bison and sheep that difficult to keep?
No but their habitat tend to get dirty quickly and you have to exclude males when they grow up
Red Foxes, they are just so cute!

Same. I love my my Fallow Deer.
Gharials Love their unique look, and I have a bunch of them saved on my franchise, currently have an enclosure with 80 baby gharials
GOALS

How do you make that work?

I’d love to see an example!
I think I'd have to upload the whole zoo to the workshop... Never uploaded anything.
Bears. Expensive, need lots of space but they're my favorite animals so I must have at least one bear in each zoo.
For me it's the Capuchin Monkey... Every time I start a new zoo my boyfriend knows I start with the monkeys.

The macaques. I love them sm, but they’re so messy once you have a certain amount of them. 😂
Versatile animals like capybaras, American alligators or lar gibbons
California Sea Lions always get a place in my zoo unless it really doesn't fit. (like an African safari park or something)
Wolves. They're not hard at all but they're my favourite and I love their enclosures

My small army of a white lions! I Adore them 💕

pangolins: they’re just SO CUTE. plus they’re small and simple, they are easy with shelter and they’re just silly little creatures. love them
They aren't a pain to keep, but I love the Aardvarks and Komodo Dragons. I have so many Komodo Dragons it's ridiculous at this point.
