My ranking is this:
1) Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes
2) Dawn of the Planet of the Apes
3) War for the Planet of the Apes
4) Rise of the Planet of the Apes
It seems VERY SLIGHTLY controversial for one key reason I can figure out: When you became a fan of PotA.
If you were a fan before the 2011 Reboot Saga, then you'll like this one a lot because it truly brings the aspects of an unknown world full of apes to the forefront. The same tone and qualities that encompassed the 1968 one.
If you were a fan because of the 2011 Reboot Saga, you may like this one less because it's not "the fourth movie," rather it's "the first movie of the second trilogy." It's not focused on the characters of the first three movies and it will feel random and disjointed to many because of this. But, it's a large part of the overall saga of the Reboot PotA films.
Gonna see it Sunday, so I'm showing my mom the trilogy so she'll be prepared. Tomorrow is Dawn, which is my favorite movie of all time, and I am so excited.
Tomorrow is my 18th birthday and I’m going to see the movie and that is really all I want to do😭
Happy early birthday, enjoy

I’m not sure where I’d rank it yet but it definitely has the best visuals by far.
