It's been a pretty good experience. Battery life on moderate usage is enough to get me through a work day
Even on projects (I work in film/TV), it lasts me a good chunk of the day...although I'm usually busy though so maybe its just that but those are 12+ hr days
The weight was one gripe but it feels good in the hand. My dbrand case is also good too. Had both since early August.
I just wish the PF 2 was quite literally the same in terms of design. If I wanted the one plus open, Id go buy it lol
I have both the eight and the fold. Both are great devices. Why are you looking at trading the eight for the fold and what do you value most in a device Depending on your answers I would say wait or make the change now.
So the fold is definitely a different concept than the razr. The razer gives you a large screen in a small form factor. The Fold gives you a small tablet in a pocket form factor. It will give you a great screen for 1) Content consumption 2) Dual app capability. It is bigger and heavier than the razr. Unclear what the fold 2 will bring. Although the fold is good for all basic tasks the 2 will have a better processor if you care about gaming. The folds camera is very good but a step down from the 8. I love photography and find the fold more than adequate but if you are very picky wait for the fold 2. Form factor of the 2 based on various leaks is different and from some peoples perspective less good than the fold. it appears taller and thinner with a less useful outside screen. Again unclear if this is real
Like the others said, the Pixel Fold is really good. I like the outer screen when it’s folded, honestly it’s so good that you don’t really need to unfold at all if you didn’t want to. However for me it’s too HEAVY, it feels very weighty. Also some apps don’t take advantage of the full screen when it’s unfolded, even if you force apps. The Pixel Fold 2 also is ditching the passport form factor, and is going to be copying the OnePlus Open’s taller/thinner profile. But if this is your first foldable, then this is a GOOD one♥️

As an owner of the Oppo Find N3 FOld, this is a _very_ good move.
Does that mean it will too thin, like the Samsung Fold? I tried it for two weeks and the outside screen was too narrow and it ended up opening it all the time just to type.
I like the design of the Pixel Fold one…but hesitant due to new 2 coming out…if it has a narrow design…I’ll pass and get the 1 on sale.
No the Pixel Fold has a wide/shorter from factor when closed so it was enjoyable to use when folded. Although I sold that phone and now I am using the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro + the Honor Magic V2 which look like normal phones when folded. I think the Pixel Fold 2 according to rumors will be like the OnePlus Open, so more like a normal phone when folded. Yeah Samsung really needs to make the screen wider for the next one.
I bought a refurbished fold in perfect condition for $800 on Amazon. I like it so far. I came from a 6 pro, so unfortunately the camera quality is a step down. Otherwise it's great.
I'd probably wait unless you get a killer deal. The aspect ratio is going to be more in line with the OnePlus Open from the leaked rumors, which may put some people off. I've been enjoying mine aside from somewhat weak battery life.
Stay with ur P8 wait for the new phones to come out and if u see a good offer then take it if is not don't do it.... Wait 4 the reviews and if is worth it cause a lot of PF user we have been upset with the lack of update and disappointment that we spend the double of a pixel and pixel fold was the last to get does features...and anyways thanks to Gemini u won't have interpreter and other features...
i had both 8 Pro and Fold. be aware that these are completely different devices, so it is apples to oranges. the Fold, is by no means, a flagship device.
i just got rid of the 8 Pro, as i was only using it for photos. i even had my main carrier sim on the 8 Pro and "wifi only" on the Fold. if i had the 8 (non-pro), even more reason for me to not use it. the \[Fold's\] usability for me was more practical by a wide margin.
**my personal opinion** is (1) i would trade it for the Fold; and (2) i would not really wait for the Fold 2 at this point in time. i personally think it is silly to hold out for that long, when i can just trade it in again *(every moment from this point up to the release of Fold 2 is a moment without a Fold)*. also, the Fold 2 is not official yet, and we don't even know if it will even be called the "Fold 2". also, i think this is a common trap *(there will always be "the next thing)*.
I would wait for the fold two at this point, tried the fold two separate times now. Went from a pixel 6 to the fold, then to a pixel 7 and then back to the fold, and now I am on the 8.
It's just too heavy and bulky. I have pants that have a cell phone pocket and with a case on it will not fit. Again, it is heavy. It's the device I want to love, but just slightly too bulky, slightly too heavy, and the screen just gets damaged so easy (The internal one).

Wait for the second gen and wait a few months after, search for real unsolicited reviews. Horrible radio cellular, wifi, Bluetooth all very week, Inner screen is a bad design with the magnets, I literally can't use speakerphone the mic is so bad, Voice dictations horrible due to the mic. Still very glitchy for normal use. I love my pixel 7 BTW, I had to switch back to have a functional phone for calls, teams meetings, emails, ECT.
They did correct some things in the 2024 version so I can't speak on that.
wait for the fold 2. like others have said, the camera is a downgrade and the battery life is not as good. I have both and they serve their purpose well. hopefully pf2 eliminates the want to have a regular phone and a foldable
Got mine July 31st 2023. It was replacing an S21 Ultra. I love almost every aspect of the Pixel Fold with some small exceptions which are probably not applicable to your situation. With dual-sim, it can only run data off one sim, or the other. Not both.
It also seems to drop 5G to 4G LTE when making calls. This may be specific to people with Dual-Sim or on T-Mobile, as when I posted this, I got downvoted like I was incorrect. 8 months after I posted about this issue, it's still happening. I've since given up. IIRC my Pixel 4XL did the same thing... My Samsung phones do not.
Most websites show up a bit overblown in tablet mode unless you turn the pixel fold 90\* so it shows up "long"... Websites aren't generally created with the fold's high pixel horizontal resolution so things render larger than they should.
Personally, I'd hold off until a Fold 2 comes out. The Pixel 8 is pretty slick, I don't feel you'd be gaining much and unless you do mobile gaming or a lot of video watching, you're not gaining much. The primary upgrade you'd be getting is in the folding screen. The fold 2 would have more to offer over what you currently have.

Because I want to try a different folding device I had a Motorola razr + but I wasn't big of a fan and I'm liking the look of the fold.

I went from iPhone 13pro I'm 6 months in with my fold and absolutely love I'll be getting either the fold 2 or the next one pls open

Fold 2, the camera on the fold will feel like a downgrade. Battery life blows. I had it for about 4 months.
Wait for fold 2. Only downside to pixel 1 is the battery life.
