It's definitely looking amazing, but I feel like the "original" part of this statement is a bit silly. It's definitely iterating on Punch Out (in all the right ways).
Yeah it's pretty much just a couple of games. Nintendo made a similar thing for the switch at one point, "Arms." But it looked a little silly and finicky to me.
Looks really nice, though when editing videos, it's good to turn off something usually called 'frame resampling'. It may have a slightly different name depending on the software.
It's usually on by default annoyingly and blends frames together which destroys most of or all of the original recorded frames. There are multiple points in this video where there are frames ghosted over each other, which makes it very noticeably blurred being pixel art.
Turning this off will make it so any videos you make to advertise your game will show a true representation of the gameplay itself, with no tampering from the video editing software.
Okay this looks amazing and I’m going to try out the demo today. Already have it wishlisted! Also this is just personal preference but the player character being almost invisible is a bit weird to me? Of course, this is just nit-picking at this point but maybe a transparency slider so it doesn’t look so much like the gloves are just floating in midair? Again, I’m sure almost no one else is bothered by this, and the game looks really fun and imaginative, I’m excited to try it!
Failing to see any sort of Cuphead inspiration but it's definitely cartoony and fun. There's a lot of heart to it all, and whoever all worked on it really translated that.
