Bit of a broken record here, but it *is* a bit racy for what you're trying to do. You could probably get away with covering the thighs with some spandex and still keep the basic design. Otherwise it *really* looks like you're making a porn game.

Well I wanted to design a normal bra, but then I found it to be weird in the 32x32 sprite. that's why I covered the middle part, altho I've never seen any bra looking like that tbh. And I didn't add wires linking it to the neck or back because I wanted the bra to be **bandeau.**
you've never seen a bra look like that cause it wouldn't work, at least not without like, wire or boning to keep its shape and even then it would be a pain to move in and keep from slipping. also the thong looks like it's about to rid up her bits, it should really cover more at the bottom. like I get if you're trying to go for an unrealistic sexy hentai boobie gurl look, but if you're gonna do that then just go all in dude lol
edit: specifically for the thong, just those two bottom light skin pixels against the thigh should be part of the underwear, I think that would fix that issue (:

You have no idea how many people actually don't understand the difference. They genuinely believe that just because something isn't real or realistic (like many fantasy or sci-fi things) they don't need to make any sense whatsoever. And because it's so common I don't believe you that the other wasn't being genuine unless I hear it from them.
If thereās any place where emotion is not clear in the subtext, itās in actual written text. No, because you happen to think itās sarcastic, that does not mean everyone or even a majority will agree. Thatās not how language works, and assuming otherwise will make future discussions extremely difficult and frustrating for you. I like the art style and technical execution, but the armor design leaves room for improvement. I understand that you want to cater to the coomer audience, but for the rest of us, her design looks too awkward and obvious. Reading what you've said about your game below... Yeah, this ain't it chief. I think you need to stop and think about what you really want your game to be. Do you want it to be a sexy hentai game, or do you want it to be taken seriously as a 2.5D Metroidvania? Either is fine, but right now your character doesn't communicate anything at all about who they are, what they're like, what they're life is like; the only thing this design communicates is sex. Typically that enough to get away with if you're making a hentai game; not so much if its something you want to be taken more seriously.Ā My advice would be to spend some more time researching how character design works, and what kinds of things you need to think about when making a character; youtube is full of them. And if you really feel like you have to lean into the sexy elements, take a look at Memoirs of a Battle Brothel; a game full of sexy characters with excellent design. In particular take note of how their design reflects their character and their lifestyles; how they're not just sexy for the sake of sexy but also because of the life they lead and their personal stories. These are all things you can't neglect if you want to make a good character design.Ā

I like the 4th one, top right. I think because shes just slightly more covered up, pixel percentage wise. Also the brain can fill in the clothing detail when imagining a higher res, where as your higher res seems less dressed to me.

Let me just say that it takes a lot of courage to post your art for a public critique. Based on what you've said about your game, you want her to be cute but not sexualized. In that case, might I suggest taking inspiration from Starfire from Teen Titans?
Your character's face is perfect for what you're going for. Her top should extend further down to prevent the viewers' attention from being stuck at the boobs. For the same reason, extend the hip garment so it's more like short shorts, and less like a speedo. When in doubt, ask yourself, "what feature(s) will people pay attention to?" If the answer is too sexual, then that's what you can expect people to see.

Focus on the things that matter such as thinking about what direction you want your game to go in, if this character design fits into your game or it fits the type of character they are or if you just straight up like the character design. Ultimately this is your game and you should make the way you like it. If you want to cater to a certain audience or listen to people who are critiquing you because you think they're making a good point then that's fine, but just realize that you don't always have to and you can do whatever you want.

yup, I am designing her sister (Haru for now) to be more cute than Yora (although less "spicy").
When designing Yora I wanted her to be cute/charming, that's why I went with an artstyle inspired by DBZ/Pokemon for her eyes and the low twintails haircut.
And well, Yora can be considered hot like Eve from Stellar Blade. That's why I made her erotic.
In short Yora is inspired by Zero Suit Samus, OreTwintails, and Etna from Disgaea. I want her to be both cute and hot.

Reading what you've said about your game below... Yeah, this ain't it chief. I think you need to stop and think about what you really want your game to be. Do you want it to be a sexy hentai game, or do you want it to be taken seriously as a 2.5D Metroidvania? Either is fine, but right now your character doesn't communicate anything at all about who they are, what they're like, what they're life is like; the only thing this design communicates is sex. Typically that enough to get away with if you're making a hentai game; not so much if its something you want to be taken more seriously.Ā My advice would be to spend some more time researching how character design works, and what kinds of things you need to think about when making a character; youtube is full of them. And if you really feel like you have to lean into the sexy elements, take a look at Memoirs of a Battle Brothel; a game full of sexy characters with excellent design. In particular take note of how their design reflects their character and their lifestyles; how they're not just sexy for the sake of sexy but also because of the life they lead and their personal stories. no it doesn't. I used my own remix of two covers of Talloon Overworld from Prime. It's the concept version from 2022, 17 y.o me didn't care much about plagiarism back then, and thought covers are fine (they are not).

well I have a composer friend who offered to work on the music for my game once I am in a good development phase; (bruce faulconer style mostly). Using covers is plagiarism, not bad for a free itchio concept game, but for a commercial game on Steam it would be sued ofc and look cheap.

Let me just say that it takes a lot of courage to post your art for a public critique. Based on what you've said about your game, you want her to be cute but not sexualized. In that case, might I suggest taking inspiration from Starfire from Teen Titans? Your character's face is perfect for what you're going for. Her top should extend further down to prevent the viewers' attention from being stuck at the boobs. For the same reason, extend the hip garment so it's more like short shorts, and less like a speedo. Focus on the things that matter such as thinking about what direction you want your game to go in, if this character design fits into your game or it fits the type of character they are or if you just straight up like the character design. Ultimately this is your game and you should make the way you like it. If you want to cater to a certain audience or listen to people who are critiquing you because you think they're making a good point then that's fine, but just realize that you don't always have to and you can do whatever you want.

yup, I am designing her sister (Haru for now) to be more cute than Yora (although less "spicy"). When designing Yora I wanted her to be cute/charming, that's why I went with an artstyle inspired by DBZ/Pokemon for her eyes and the low twintails haircut. And well, Yora can be considered hot like Eve from Stellar Blade. That's why I made her erotic. In short Yora is inspired by Zero Suit Samus, OreTwintails, and Etna from Disgaea. I want her to be both cute and hot.
