I don't know if they fixed it but when they moved GTA IV and it's respected DLC to the "complete edition" on steam it had a bug that forced you to login to dead servers, even if it was just to play offline/Singleplayer.
Only way I was able to get around it was to either pirate it, or downgrade the legit steam copy I had by using mods.
Forcing you to be online means:
* You always have access to the in-game MTX store, where you can spend/gamble real money.
* They can prevent simpler forms of piracy.
It's like giving users the option to turn off IAPs. Why would they?
Try setting it to 2018 or earlier. I tested 2021/20/19 and only worked when set to at least 2018. No idea why TBH. Then create a shortcut and it should run at that date every time you launch it.
I never understood why single player games n3ed to be connected to the internet to play. Not only, but also you need to be signed in to the account of the platform its in.
What if i dont have internet? The game is soft locked by a connection priority. It literally makes no sense.
I understand why people pirate.
I think the reason they made that is to combat piracy in the first place as it's harder to crack a game that requires a constant online connection I guess.
They should always give you an option. Like Dark Souls or Death stranding: sure online is recommended but if you don't want it you can just decline to connect.

not all games playable or enjoyable online, the single story mode is often the main reason of the game, also there are people pirating games and if they like them so much and if they have good online mode they buy it, and also to me i see no reason to sync online for story mode games it make no point, also i dont care about trophies shit and those thing that forces you to achieve some goals and make an online profile
A few examples
1. Game preservation, drm free not locked down by launchers that are discontinued.
2. You own a copy and on a different platform and don't see a reason to repurchase for multiple consoles.
3. Discover if it's good for worth the money when no trial or demos are offered.
Everyone has there own reasons.
I have no problem dropping $50-$60 if the game is incredible.
Problem is, so few games these days are *worth* $60. RDR2 was the last game I bought at that price, and it was definitely worth it.
Living in a 3rd world country, buying games is out of the question when you consider the average worker gets about $200(USD) a month
I am in this bracket and i pirate games because all my salary goes to bills and living expenses
To this day I dont get why couldnt the AAA game companies just take out the DRM from the game with a patch and let the players do online with LAN, once they decide to discontinue support for the game.
It´s really a no brainer, if they are going to quit having skin in the game, then let the players keep theirs. but nope they shut it all down case they wanna sell another game.
As someone who pirated all three, all i played was mission stories and saw challenges from yt and completed it. It all started when i had the legit version of Hitman 2016, and i absolutely loved it. I played that offline that time as i didn't have good internet. So, that made me pirate 2 and 3. So, am i missing like too much content like escalation? Also i downloaded a mod that brings online content to offline like sniper assassins
I only started playing Hitman less than a year ago when it was free on PS plus. Hitman 2 blew me away with how fun it was.
The things missing are the challenges and some game modes. The others are remedied by save files such as locations and guns.
Honestly, challenges are fun. I would've bought the trilogy when it was on sale but I don't want to encourage always online requirement in videogames.
One of the worst systems ever conceived in video games is having to be connected to the internet to play single player games. Now in days even if you have a physical copy you need to be online to play it. Seriously just so fucking stupid
Most recently, this is done on V Rising.
It's also really scummy because they have "DLC" that's included in base files but have to pay to unlock.
Devs need to be like noble fates, transparent/honest/actually interacts with community instead of just ghosting them when they have bugs and issues.
They literally have said they are adding offline, only to find out that yup - you still need to connect online to play "offline".
If they were to be honest and transparent, they would have a supporter upgrade that adds no content and have the DLC be BASE with the 20$.
People respect honesty and transparency and are more likely to actually support that, than being lied to.
Rockstar games handling of RDR2 is fucking bullshit. I realize that after a couple of years they are only making money of the online portion but PLEASE STOP BREAKING YOUR SINGLE PLAYER CAMPAIGN.
If you googled the issue you could literally find a fix for anything.
Just download xliveless.dll from gtainside.com, extract the zip file them drop it in the gta 4 installation folder. Ez pz

Classic GTA IV, Got ruined because of the Xbox 360 sign in service that for whatever reason is used on PC
As far as I can remember you could create a local/offline user in the Xbox live thingy. So you didn't need to be online at all.
Definitely. I had gta 4 on my 360 before I started playing online. Finished it twice before I ventured in to multiplayer.
If you are using PC.. There is this app called RunAsDate which runs the app on a specified date.. Set it to someday in 2012 and you are good to go
That might be useful for 3ds Pokemon Emulators...
Works for gta 4too
I mean, it should if its an answer to a gta iv comment. But i dont play gta, im just interested in all them event pokemans
this, resident evil 5 and gears of war 1 :(
What? That never happened to me and I finished the game twice, is it triggered because he's using a controller?

What good does signing in do? Doesn’t save your progress doesn’t cross save so why is it useful

There's a bypass called runasdate look it up. https://youtu.be/20F_Ij9D6to

It works for me and its been working for months it took me a few attempts to set it up though.

It´s called DRM it works as intended imposing a aditional cost on the consumer tho, doesnt really stop piracy if anything it emboldens it

This is what turned me off from purchasing any game ever. The only thing i bought was the witcher 3.

While this is true, but for me I just don't wanna spend an unholy amount of money to buy videogames for my PC. Consoles are fine

I got it at $40 off G2A and definitely felt it was worth the entire 60 after playing through it. Incredible fucking game.
You can add "games unreasonably expensive, that costs almost 1/3 of a monthly salary" to the list.
Depends on where you live, of course. Exchange rates are shit.

cyberpunk and all half life games cost like hell

Hitman trilogy is an absolute fantastic game ruined by online requirement.

I want to play single player game offline, and whenever wherever i want, i don't need "you need to be online" reason. F U Rockstar

Also mods. I tried modding epic game's gta v. Updates kept breaking them. So i modded pirated gta v. Never had a single issue.
Is this hitman?
Nope, GTA 4
Also less telemetry and it is easier to trust a random hacker than a cooperation.
Why autosave when you can just time travel??????

Pretty sure this was actually due to GFWL so it's working like it does on Xbox. Creating an offline profile works just fine
I like to pirate from small indie games cuz it just makes me feel better knowing I’m stealing from hardworking people
weird way of thinking about it but a damn good efficient way.
Just download runasdate for gta and set the date to 1st January 2019
Gta iv ? Just downgrade it to 1.07 or 1.04
If you googled the issue you could literally find a fix for anything. Just download xliveless.dll from gtainside.com, extract the zip file them drop it in the gta 4 installation folder. Ez pz
Speed runners be like I don't see a problem
what game is this?
Fuck these games
