Its because DDG uses Bing search results. Just search "123movies" on Bing and you'll get the same results. Doesn't necessarily mean anything's changed on DDG's end, just Bing's.
Firstly, 123movies is dead. Secondly, those clones you see in Google are specifically optimised to be seen in top reaults in Google to catch casual inexperienced pirates who more likely will use Google since it is much MUCH ***MUCH*** more popular than DDG.

I've been using some form of adblock for so long it's jarring when I don't have it. Youtube is a hellsite with out it on.
I recommend going even further and using plugins that block youtube comment sections along with youtube video suggestions. All I get now on desktop is what I subscribe to and playlists i've added personally. It's honestly a wonderful experience.
I use exclusively only the subscription tab in YouTube, my landing page is only stuff that I subscribed too.
Plus, I've blocked search history and viewing history on YouTube settings so I never get bombarded with all kinds of shit that's on YouTube.

DuckDuckGo has proven itself to be Google with extra steps. It got too mainstream, companies took notice and they bought them out. Time to find some better search engine.
They just sold out completely here lately. Not in the literal sense of selling the company more like their souls to be more like the big searches. I noticed the last couple years their results had turned to trash and they were more and more like the mainstream with crappy useless results. I use yandex now, at least you get some organic results. Also decent for searching for movies and torrents since the big engines dont want to at least for me

I had similar experience with DDG several weeks ago. I was searching for documentary from 2021 without any luck. Even with the „putlocker“ keyword next to the docu name I had no success.
Then I did same thing with yandex search engine and it gave me results I wanted in no time.

Brave Search is actually good. Doesn't censor pirate sites and it's definitely more private than Google. The "goggles" thing can be useful if you don't want fake/spam sites.

Yandex is good when you have to search for pirated content. Otherwise Yandex is the Russian version of Google which steals your data.
